Free Father’s Day Messages to be Hosted by Stripes.com

May 18, 2005 by John Allen · Leave a Comment

Stripes.com beginning immediately and ending June 10 at 5:00PM EDT.

A selection of messages sent to those stationed in the Middle East will appear in a special printed edition to be inserted in Stars and Stripes Middle East Sunday edition, June 19, 2005, but messages must have been received by May 27 to be included in this printed edition.

All messages received will be published online at Stripes.com beginning on Father’s Day, June 19, including those sent to recipients in the Middle East…….

Due to limitations on Internet access for our forward deployed, we decided to print some of the messages just for the Middle East, says Stars and Stripes Chief Operating Officer, Max J. Lederer Jr. Anticipating that many fathers in contingency areas will not have time to read messages online, Stars and Stripes will add a box to the online message posting so people can check it if their recipients are in the Middle East.

Those checked messages will be extracted and some will be printed in the special section on June 19. Lederer added, It’s an expensive proposition for Stars and Stripes, but we believe it is very important that our down-range readers don’t miss out on special occasions like this.  Stars and Stripes will print as many of the Middle East messages as possible.

To send a free message, visitors may go to Stripes.com and click on the Father’s Day Messages button, any time from May 9 to May 27.  Stars and Stripes will publish all messages online, as long as they are received via its online message board by the May 27th deadline.  Only messages received online will be published.

Stars and Stripes will make every attempt to print all the messages received for Middle East recipients, but reserves the right to limit the number of messages actually published in the special Middle East Father’s Day Messages insert.

Hundreds of thousands of servicemen were exposed to asbestos over decades, especially during the period from 1940 to 1980. Asbestos was used in construction of naval vessels as well as shore facilities. All branches of the military used asbestos, which was also widely used in civilian applications. Asbestos can cause mesothelioma. Because this cancer has a particularly long latency period, many servicemen who were exposed years ago are now developing this disease. - Mesothelioma Patient & Family Resources: Mesotheliomahelp is provided by Belluck & Fox, LLP as a comprehensive resource for mesothelioma victims and their families.  The site provides up-to-date information on the latest news and treatment options as well as an easy to use search feature to find local mesothelioma doctors and health care clinics.  - We fight for veterans harmed by asbestos: Veterans with mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer should know they have options: the opportunity to bring a suit against manufacturers and sellers of the asbestos that caused their illness. If you were harmed by asbestos exposure, for example, in ships or military housing, contact Weitz & Luxenberg to get a free case review. - Important Information for Veterans: Asbestos products were often used on military ships and within military housing, and Veterans may have been exposed. Previous exposure to asbestos is the only known cause of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer that has no cure and affects countless Veterans and loved ones.
