Homeless veterans sleeping under bridges?

Former presidential candidate John Edwards commented not long ago, “In a country with as much wealth as America has, for us to have as many as 200,000 veterans who go to bed under bridges, go to sleep under bridges, or on grates, and who are homeless… This is immoral, and it’s wrong. And we, America, we have a responsibility to do something about it.” 

A few nights ago on Fox’s "The O’Reilly Factor," guest Ed Schultz, a syndicated radio talk show host, suggested that Edwards needs to expand on his two Americas theme (the rich and the poor). 

O’Reilly quickly interrupted Ed and declared: Well, we’re still looking for all the veterans sleeping under the bridges, Ed. So, if you find anybody, let us know. Because that’s all the guy said for the last…

SCHULTZ: Well, they’re out there, Bill, don’t kid yourself.

O’REILLY: They may be out there, but there are not many of them out there, OK. So, if you know where there is a veteran sleeping under a bridge, you call me immediately, and we will make sure that man does not do it (sleep under a bridge)…

I’ve been brooding over this story for several days now and need to voice my opinion for all the displaced veterans out there.

Bill O’Reilly has a right to his personal opinion but his comments must be based on truth and not merely speculation.

The fact is countless veterans have given up all hope of fighting for their rights when it comes to the VA. This unethical organization can take years to rule on a veterans appeal if it wants to. In the interim the veteran sacrifices his life savings, home and car fighting this less than compassionate bureaucratic entity.

The fact is, there are veterans on drugs and alochol left out in the cold. Many of them have severe (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. While the VA takes it sweet time playing with the appeals. Slowly one by one some of the vets subcome to drugs or alochol and eventually death is the end result. It doesn’t matter as far as the VA is concerned because that’s less money the government has to shell out in the end.

Let’s not fool ourselves! America worships the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR.

Sadly, many charities only devote about 10% of their donor money towards helping the needy. The rest of the captial is applied toward huge saleries, fancy offices, pleasure cruises and so forth. We know this to be true because of past abuses with the American Red Cross and the United Way just to name two of them.

If famous personalities really cared they would apply their donations directly to the disadvanged of America. This instead of going through charities with massive overheads.

What about the food banks? They’re running critically low on food and no one seems to be doing anything about it. Instead of the rich and famous buying a third or fouth house they could donate their money to a food bank.

Every time I see a celebrity flaunting their riches on tv it makes me sick. I think about how many mouths their tenth mercedes could have fed. I remember people lending a helping hand with no strings attached. Now the world has grown cold thinking only of itself. It’s no wonder countless rich and famous people are self destructing. Some of them eventually realize material pleasures cannot replace warm, loving friendships while others end up killing themselves.

I see America self destructing in the months to come. Our legal system protects the guilty and punishes the innocent through non-convictions. Many policitians can’t seperate reality from illusion. He or she will say what they have to in order to win an election. In the political realm one has to play the game or perish.

Several years ago I saw a movie by Eddie Murphy called, The distinguished Gentleman. Although written as a comedy it gave us a clear perspective of what really goes on in Washington D.C.

The stock market is fueled by pure speculation and it’s one big con game as far as I’m concerned. Oil prices are driven on fabricated incidents. The idea that something may or may not happen is excuse enough to raise or lower prices. I believe we’re headed for a stock market crash in the not too distant future. Why?! This will provide the international bankers with an excuse to claim all the repossessed property for pennies on the dollar.

Of course, a more sinister reason will be to proclaim A ONE WORLD ORDER. When this frightening event takes place the U.S. Constitution will be abolished. FREEDOM as we know it will be non-existant at that time. With the introduction of the national I.D. card to be issued this May 15th it will be the beginning of the end for our precious freedoms. A microchip tracking device will be embedded within the card and we’ll be tracked wherever we go. Why do you think more and more cameras are appearing on street corners and roof tops? It’s to track your every move! Citizens are already volunterily being microchipped. Yes! The books 1984 and Brave New World are rapidly descending upon us.

Can we do anything about it? NO! Far too many people have bought into the system for us to turn back now. We are sheep being led to the slaughter so to speak. There’s plenty of videos on YOUTUBE to back up what I’m saying.

Thank goodness we haven’t lost the art of free speech yet. You won’t find the real truth on the tradational media platforms. The political machine regulates all the media outlets and that’s why there’s censorship within its establishments.

In America we never hear the good things about Iraq. The industral military complex wants to keep the war going for financial reasons. That’s why we hear only the bad things about the war.

I’m proud to be an American but when I see corruption I must speak out against it. If you think for one minute the policies of our government are going to change you’re living in a dream world. It might be called something different but it’s still the same old con.
