Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will address an expected crowd of 4,000 at the Disabled American Veterans annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Bally’s Hotel Las Vegas at approximately 1:15 PM PST.  The 1.4 million-member veterans’ organization looks forward to discussing the opportunities and challenges faced by veterans from all wars.

Among the many topics to be discussed at the DAV Convention will be veterans health care, including the need for sufficient, timely, and predictable funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

DAV’s Washington Headquarters Executive Director David W. Gorman and National Legislative Director Joseph A. Violante – both disabled veterans – are available to provide media interviews regarding veterans issues before and after Sen. McCain’s remarks.

     

Bios:

David W. Gorman
David W. Gorman, a combat-disabled veteran and double amputee of the Vietnam War, has been executive director of the Disabled American Veterans headquarters in Washington, D.C. since 1995.  He is the organization’s principal spokesperson before Congress, the White House and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Joseph A. Violante
Joseph A. Violante, a disabled Vietnam veteran and attorney, was appointed

DAV’s national legislative director in July 1997.  He is located at the organization’s National Service and Legislative Headquarters in Wash­ington, D.C.
