The offset is only a feel good measure when you consider the VA comp payment is tax exempt but the offset is fully taxable. So I have tax exempt money taken from my retired pay only to get it back fully taxed. Something seems really wrong here, The added taxable income has raised my tax rate two years in a row. I live off of this income as some of my problems keep me from regular employment. Perhaps some one can explain this.
