canadianPROTEST RALLY JUST ACROSS RIVER FROM MAINE

by Cpl. Kenneth H. Young CD (ret)

Dear U.S. Veterans,

On May the 19th. at 2 P.M. sharp in a sports field adjacent to the Saint Croix Legion Branch # 9 in St Stephan N.B. Canada, a Protest Rally will gather directly across the Saint Croix River from Calais Maine U.S.A.
Attending and protesting in this historic rally will be Canadian Legion members from across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, CFB Gagetown N.B. Veterans and Victims of the 28 year  Gagetown toxic chemical spraying program, the Military Widows On The War Path, and members of the Agent Orange Association of Canada and Agent Orange Alert along with our many supporters.

The reason for this Protest Rally is to forcefully demand from our Prime Minister and our Minister of Veterans Affairs a Judicial Public Inquiry into this Canadian Toxic Atrocity.
CFB Gagetown N.B. is where our Canadian Government sprayed over 3.2 million Liters/Pounds of Agent Orange, Agent Purple and Agent White.
Many Maine National Guards and British Solders trained in Gagetown’s DIOXIN and HCB laden training area for extended periods during the known spraying times every summer. Spraying took place almost every year from 1956 to 1984.
The Maine National Guard, while training at CFB Gagetown N.B. were exposed to toxic chemicals for extended periods every year. It is as a result of our shared exposure to these cancer causing agents that we cordially invite the U.S. Veterans and their supporters to stand with us in St Stephan N.B. to demand the justice that both our Governments have denied us.
For those of you who will be attending this protest rally, the Saint Croix Legion can be found at the corner of Queen St. West and Mark St.. The following link will take you to the St. Stephan N.B. map.
For those of you who cannot attend this historic event but would still like to support us, please send a letter of support demanding a Judicial Public Inquiry to Gary Goode ( gary1@telus.net ) and it will be
printed and hand delivered to Greg Thompson’s, the Minister of Veteran’s Affairs riding office in St Stephan N.B. on the day of our protest.
Thank-you for your continued support of both our Country’s Veterans.

I believe that some American military who were at Gagetown have been compensated by their DVA and rightly so. Please support the Canadian and other international troops who were exposed to Agent Orange, Agent Purple and many other deadly herbicides such as Agent White, not just in 1966 and 1967, but from 1956 – 1984 that our own government sprayed on us.

The letter I e-mailed hi written by USN-G-MAN of allmilitary .com is as follows for those who wish to show support.
Hi Gary,

I’m a US Veteran and although I’m unable to travel in support of your efforts, I want you to know that thousands and thousands of American (US and Canadian) Veterans are behind you and your fight for rights and benefits.

Personally, I have a hard time understanding how any government on Earth can dispute the terrible and widespread effects that Agent Orange, Agent Purple, Agent Blue and Agent White, can have on the human body.

The US Department of Veteran Affairs now recognizes some two dozen different diseases that it can and will award benefits without contest. More diseases are being added each year as they are being undisputedly recognized as a direct result of exposure to these deadly toxins.

I want you to know that veterans of the US will be anxiously watching the outcome of your struggle.

Good Luck to all my Canadian Brothers and Sisters,

    Sincerely,
Hundreds of thousands of servicemen were exposed to asbestos over decades, especially during the period from 1940 to 1980. Asbestos was used in construction of naval vessels as well as shore facilities. All branches of the military used asbestos, which was also widely used in civilian applications. Asbestos can cause mesothelioma. Because this cancer has a particularly long latency period, many servicemen who were exposed years ago are now developing this disease. - Mesothelioma Patient & Family Resources: Mesotheliomahelp is provided by Belluck & Fox, LLP as a comprehensive resource for mesothelioma victims and their families.  The site provides up-to-date information on the latest news and treatment options as well as an easy to use search feature to find local mesothelioma doctors and health care clinics.  - We fight for veterans harmed by asbestos: Veterans with mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer should know they have options: the opportunity to bring a suit against manufacturers and sellers of the asbestos that caused their illness. If you were harmed by asbestos exposure, for example, in ships or military housing, contact Weitz & Luxenberg to get a free case review. - Important Information for Veterans: Asbestos products were often used on military ships and within military housing, and Veterans may have been exposed. Previous exposure to asbestos is the only known cause of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer that has no cure and affects countless Veterans and loved ones.
