Burr,

I pretty much prefer the source you got this from Talking Points Memo [tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com] (TMP) [tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com]
to FU, but FU is a catchy phrase, and it admits to being Unbalanced, or more approprately Fair and Unbalanced.

Either way, the comments and responses bloggers received to this delusional view by Nancy P. reflect negatively on former (thank the Gods) Vice-President Cheney, the Bush administration, and the United States government.

That said, having served in the federal government (in and out of uniform and undercover) my bet is on nothing being seriously done about Bush, Cheney, the Generals, even the Camp Commandante at GITMO. It's worthy news to print when the most senior military officer's in Bush's chain of command turn on him, but that's about as far as this is going.

To pursue a serious investigation let alone prosecution of the Bush cartel means holding responsible EVERYONE in the Chain of Command (ala Nuremburg) and that's never gonna happen.

Speaking as a former Army Dad, I have passionate mixed feelings about this. Would you seriously want you son or daughter to be a prison guard anywhere in Iraq, Afghanistan, or GITMO as our national leaders debate the good or evil you've taken part in. No one in any military family would want their love one placed in that position.

These Generals are trying to distance themselves from the Bush/Cheny horror show just like the Republican party unsuccessfully did giving us Barrack Obama.

But we know that shit rolls down hill, if the former Commander-In-Chief is found guilty of ordering torture, each and everyone who followed those orders in the Chain of Command is vulnerable for that guilt from the President to the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the time, to commanders in the field right down to the prison guards.

If this really got serious, we would see the politicians and former politician plus senior military leadership clammering to find some underling(s) and scapegoats to blame. You know the Few Bad Apples Card.

Major Hanafin
USAF-Retired
