Joe Wilson, real name "Addison" presents himself as a hard boiled combat veteran, retired Army colonel and all around tough guy. He belongs to "white supremist" organizations, fought hard to keep the Confederate flag in South Carolina and, when an aide to the notorious racist Strom Thrumond, abused and threatened Thurmond’s half-African American daughter in an attempt to shut her up.
His real record is Vietnam. Born in 1947, Wilson was prime material for the Vietnam War. After taking deferment after deferment for college and law school, in 1972, Wilson was glided into a coveted Army Reserve billet, protecting him from service in Vietnam. He quit in 1975 with the fall of Saigon and transferred to the National Guard where he was a Judge Advocate, a "lawyer."
Wilson has one of the worst records in Congress, having voted against Veteran funding 11 times. The only "veteran" Wilson has helped is himself.
Though ending up with full health insurance and a fat military retirement, Joe Wilson, like Senator Lindsay Graham, both passed more qualfiied serving officers who were deployed to combat and moved into high paying positions as full Colonels, all done using political clout. This gives both Wilson and his good friend and reportedly highest ranking gay officer in the US military, Lindsay Graham, substantial "double dip" retirements without ever having to actually serve in the real military and, especially, not during the Vietnam War.
Wilson’s opponent in the upcoming election is Rob Miller, 13 year US Marine with 2 combat tours in Iraq. Wilson missed his chance at combat due to more important considerations involving "personal skin."
Wilson, close friend and confidant of Fox Enterainment reality show host Glenn Beck is a strong advocate of private health care. In fact he received over $ 400,000 in political donations from the health care industry in support of his position. Insiders say that Beck helped stage the Wilson "impromptu theater" during the Presidents address to Congress, offering full support from Fox News in exchange for Wilson’s violation of traditional Southern good manners, something Wilson has little familiarity with.
Wilson has spent a lifetime on the public payroll running his mouth while others have done the fighting.
Much has been made of late about Wilsons ties to White Supremist and neo-Klan groups. As one of the 7 legislators who stood against all others to keep the sessionist flag as the state frag of South Carolina and as former staffer to the former anti-civil rights activist Strom Thrumond, Wilsons racist views are well known and well established.
What some of us would like to have seen established is a biography that included miltiary service during the Vietnam War instead of deferrment after deferrment then hiding out in an "undeployable" Army Reserve unit until the second the Communists moved into Saigon.
This tells me all I need to know.

He got into the air national guard DURING THE WAR (virtually impossible for those whos father aint a political hack). Added to that, bush was a hideously incompetent pilot, so much so some of his squadron mates refused to fly with him. Plus, bush went AWOL during time of war. Thats something that lands most people in prison. So *F* bush the draft dodging yellow bellied twit sideways with a red hot poker.

If this wilson guy is indeed a kkk type, and its pretty obvious hes a draft dodging twit, and anti-veteran, and worst of all…a lawyer!
That said, he has as much right to voice his concerns as anyone else does. If only the democrats had enough balls to heckle bush when he started bombing Iraq maybe the war would be over, and the troops would be safe with their families.
I can see one dodging the draft for the Vietnam War OR a GI resister because they knew it was a pointless quicksand war; and of course I can see a conscientious objector dodging the draft for the same war. BUT I CAN’T STAND A CHICKENHAWK, which Wilson appears to be. As an afterthought, Strom Thurmond was a racist pig who should have died like a dog a long time ago, Black daughter or no Black daughter.

Yes, the war was dumb. I was there with my friends. Should I have left them behind just because I could have stayed in school another half decade?
Vietnam was full of wonderfully educated grunts, thousands of them one hell of alot smarter than Wilson. Many of them died.
What makes this worm so much more valuable than the others?
I swear, the next person that tells me how valuable Wilson was because he was a lawyer will get a very nasty email back.
Can anyone name a legal case where Mr. Wilson represented somone other than a large land developer seeking taxpayer subsidies.

WELCOME HOME ” DUFFSTER ” and THANKS for your service. Nobody is more valuable then the veterans that keep this country safe. What we need is a 2 YEAR MANDITIORY SERVICE where none of these so called runner’s ( draft doggers ) can get out of it. I spent 1 year with the infantry in Vietnam and I’d do it again if i was asked. Thank Mr Carter for letting these draft doggers back in to this country. Mr Wilson used a deferment to get his ass out of going to Vietnam the CHICKEN-SHIT–what if we all did that –where would this country be today ? The time will come when the veterans are needed to defend this country from DESTRUCTION WITH-IN.
Get me enough tape and pain meds and I will go back to VN is a quick minute.
Don’t expect any of the Chickenhawks to be there with us or to welcome us home with more than a kick in the ass.

Well jeez, if he’d been black they would have called it affirmative action. Incompetent people in the military get promoted ALL THE TIME because they are the right race (not white) or sex (female). They call it “equal opportunity”.

I’m with you, I do not understand this support for the Libs when they have always been against anything involving the veterans.
I for one am sick and tired of these liberals playing the race card. I don’t give a rat’s *ss that Obama is black, if he were white I would still not like what he is trying to do and let’s be clear he did lie on the speech. Wilson was correct on what he said. And just how do the words “you lie” sound racist. The president said that his health care plan won’t cover illegal immigrants, but on Wednesday argued that’s all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage. Same as he stated that the bill would not cover abortions and in the public option it would allow to cover all abortions, he also said it would not add one dime to the federal deficit but he failed to mention only in the first few years as over 10 years it would add hundreds of billions to the deficit. Oh and how about his little sad story on the guy who died from being denied his coverage, well that also turned out to be a lie as reported by the Chicago Sun Times.
Oh and Duff, if you like to write fiction please take it somewhere else. You have no supporting facts at all in your stories. If you want to make allegations against someone please learn to back them up and I don’t mean by stating “insiders say” give facts not your f’d up fantasies, I love the way you put how much money he has received from the health care industry but how does he compare to Frank Pallone Jr.(D) $2,702,786, Charles Rangel (D) $2,344,854, Richard A Gephardt (D) $2,211,359, John Kerry $8,199,491 and how about this one for you Barack Obama $20,064,596 .

The liberal agenda is antithetical to the fundamental premise of the constitution. Any vet that supports a lib, never seriously considered the parchment they swore their very lives to uphold. Mindboggling to say the least.
