Whacky news for veterans' entertainment

October 23, 2009 by John Allen · 3 Comments

I am usually pretty serious on this web site, but every now and then I like to lighten things up.  We are people you know and people need to take things a little light sometimes!  So here we go.  I submit these news stories to tickle your curiousity and lighten things up a bit. We cannot be serious all the time!

Lets start with the Mayan Calendar and the End of the World in 2012.  You cannot beat that for light news fare, eh?  NASA has now completely debunked this Mayan Calendar ‘end of the world link".  Here it is.

Lets move on to a video of Champ, the Lake Champlain monster.  Lake Champlain is in Vermont, New York and Canada.  Champ is a sort of North American version of the Loch Ness monster.  Somebody somewhere has submitted a short video that they just shot of the monster.  Here he is for your pre-Halloween enjoyment.

NASA has just reported finding a real big hole in the Moon which apparently leads to an even bigger hole deep inside the Moon.  This is important because NASA needs a place where astrounauts can hide from space radiation if we even stay on the Moon long enough for that to matter.  The story is here.

Here is a story of a UFO incident involving a police officer in Wiltshire, England on July 6th of this year.  He saw aliens and they were over six foot tall and blonde.  They ran away quickly when they noticed him. Its’ really funny, but tall blonde women have done the exact same thing to me during my entire lifetime.  I wonder….

Now here is a story that will set your old high school English teacher on fire! It seems that someone has used plagiarism software to investigate Shakespeare’s plays and found that he has definitely plagiarized works of a famous playwright of his day, Thomas Kyd.  Here is an excerpt from that article:

"Sir Brian Vickers, an authority on Shakespeare at the Institute of English Studies at the University of London, believes that a comparison of phrases used in The Reign of King Edward III with Shakespeare’s early works proves conclusively that the Bard wrote the play in collaboration with Thomas Kyd, one of the most popular playwrights of his day."

Here is an article from the New York Times outlining the strange behavior of the CIA which is trying at every turn to halt declassification of hundreds of documents concerning the Kennedy Assassination. Researchers all find this very odd.  Too much effort is going into this and they wonder why this is the case.  Hmmmm!

Just some stuff I found on the internet that is a little different.  I thought you might find it interesting.

Gosh, I’m so glad I’m not 6ft and blonde! Maybe, there’s hope for me after all! That would get really old having men run away from me all
    the time!!
Mr Barnes, as always I enjoy your great sense of humor! Can the Blue Bird of Happiness live? ;-)

    Lil Petunia:

The blue bird of happiness is alive and well, as you well know!

Guys it’s the government raising its ugly head and involving itself in everything again. Ya’ll remember hearing on TV about why we don’t have enough H1N1 flu vaccine? It’s because of the missing chickens! No Chickens, No eggs! The CIA ( formerly called’ Caught in the Act’ but now it stands for Chickens in Afghanistan) conducted a midnight ‘Extraordinary Rendition’ (AKA: stealing chickens) of the Kentucky based chicken farms which coincidentally are located next to an Army base that supply all of the chickens to wherever they make the flu shots. This was what created a shortage in vaccines ergo: no chickens, no eggs for vaccine. But we got em NOW, We know they were gonna send them chickens to A-stan to reward all the voters for their allegiance to (past, present and future president for life), Karzai. Oh yeah, we now know they were gonna send those ‘cash for clunkers’ there too, gets rid of our junk. AND we know that the ‘Chickens in Afghanistan’ was caught putting (for all you old ex ‘pot smokin hippie folks’ that understand) ‘Purple haze’ in the voter’s ink for the voters that wanted to get more than one vote in. Then they were going to give the acid tripping voters cans of spray paint and told to spruce up the town, hey let’s face it, A-stan DOES need it. Would have worked just fine except they lost the papers on who buys all that spray paint (would have been another KBR (chicKens, Been Redented contract anyway) and it got lost in the ‘feather’ river somewhere around Sacramento, I mean the ‘Chickens’ farm, (probably got shredded and put in with the hay for the chicken coops). But fear not. Even though the Chickens part of this is ‘dead’ so to speak, we can still use those clunkers to cover all those bunker rooftops, except now we’ll have to buy them back since we already gave them to chicKens, Been Rendented. Darn, Sooo close. Hey, maybe we can give the clunkers that haven’t been sent over yet (the drivable ones) to all the homeless, so they can drive to the poor farm like they used to do in the thirties? Give em a chicken to take on the way too. Yeah, that’ll fix em. No good deed goes unpunished. I can see it now at the ‘chicKen uhh, farm’s’ main gate, “Is that a chicken in your pants there buddy, or are you just happy to see me? “Hey, don’t ask, don’t tell”.

Quick Links: Asbestos & Mesothelioma - Mesothelioma Cancer Center - Mesothelioma Lawyers - Mesothelioma Treatment
Hundreds of thousands of servicemen were exposed to asbestos over decades, especially during the period from 1940 to 1980. Asbestos was used in construction of naval vessels as well as shore facilities. All branches of the military used asbestos, which was also widely used in civilian applications. Asbestos can cause mesothelioma. Because this cancer has a particularly long latency period, many servicemen who were exposed years ago are now developing this disease. - Mesothelioma Patient & Family Resources: Mesotheliomahelp is provided by Belluck & Fox, LLP as a comprehensive resource for mesothelioma victims and their families.  The site provides up-to-date information on the latest news and treatment options as well as an easy to use search feature to find local mesothelioma doctors and health care clinics.  - We fight for veterans harmed by asbestos: Veterans with mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer should know they have options: the opportunity to bring a suit against manufacturers and sellers of the asbestos that caused their illness. If you were harmed by asbestos exposure, for example, in ships or military housing, contact Weitz & Luxenberg to get a free case review. - Important Information for Veterans: Asbestos products were often used on military ships and within military housing, and Veterans may have been exposed. Previous exposure to asbestos is the only known cause of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer that has no cure and affects countless Veterans and loved ones.
