Veterans land home for dogs

rosebrockdogs_150By Judi McLeod Canada Free Press

The noble dog has proven down through the ages to be man’s best friend. Often stripped of his dignity, the War Veteran is man’s best chance to live in liberty.

In Los Angeles, dogs—given the full run of veteran’s property—are living far better lives than some 20,000 local War Veterans.

Canada Free Press (CFP) roving War Veterans reporter Robert L. Rosebrock was out shooting pictures for CFP yesterday, on veterans property in tony LA.

“Since 1985, the City of Los Angeles has leased 12 acres of Veterans land for $1 a year for the Barrington Recreation Center, that includes two baseball diamonds,” writes Rosebrock. “In 2003, a section of the property was made into Barrington Dog Park giving area dogs better treatment than thousands of homeless War Vets.”

It should be louder than the barking of a million dogs that “current population estimates suggest that about 154,000 veterans (male and female) are homeless on any given night and perhaps twice as many experience homelessness at some point during the course of a year.”

That should cause many people to toss and turn in their sleep at night. But all vulnerable veterans waiting on hope from the Obama administration hear from Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki is that Veteran Affairs will spend $3.2 billion next year (italics CFP’s) “to prevent and reduce homelessness among Veterans”.

You can reduce homelessness in LA for some of the 20,000 LA homeless War Vets by opening the padlocked front gates at the entry to the Los Angeles National Veterans Home, Gen. Shinseki.

You can go from there to pave the way past red tape and bureaucracy for other War Vets now sleeping in farmers’ fields and parks in other parts of the country.

Even word of this would restore to those who put themselves in harm’s way for others, some hope change and restored dignity.

As long as “FERES Doctrine is allowed to run the show All that serve are in harms way. As long as we have no redress of grievances under our Constitutional Rights these abuses will continue to happen. The Feres Doctrine is the Cancer inside the VA and Military Hospitals because that is were there is no accountability Abolish Feres Doctrine and give Armed Forces back the very same rights that we all risked life and limb for so that we can redress gross criminal negligence caused by the abuses of federal employees. Veterans Day will be everyday once we are not treated like 3rd class citizens. Ironically those that are in Federal Jails for murder have more rights than homeless Veterans. Do the math and wonder why this is happening. For Politicians to look the other way is a crime and the Politicians that allow these abuses to happen should all be kicked out of office.

  2. Why doesn’t some one organize these 20,000 homeless Vets in the LA area and assemble them all in the park? At one time. What would happen then?

    • Michael: We are working on it! While it is not a simple or easy mission, we will bring about a modern-day Veterans “bonus march” to the largest VA in the nation.
