Deceitful Dick Cheney

Laudable journalism demands when quoting a source reporters should determine if the source has an ax to grind; does he have a history of honesty in commenting on a topic; is he authoritative; in short is he credible? Dick Cheney is obviously not credible. Neither is Karl Rove. Both are proven, systematic liars whose lies have killed literally 100,000s and cost $trillions. Major players from the Bush years ought be identified as discredited liars whose work is a disaster for the U.S.
And yet Cheney and Rove are playing the press who uncritically repeat neocon criticism of President Obama on Afghanistan. They do not hit the merits of Obama’s policy, but rather wish to politically define the Obama brand as weak, indecisive and so on.
Any mention of Cheney and Rove ought to include the very recent history that they and Bush presided over the most demonstrably dishonest, destructive eight years in modern American history that will take several years to repair. Seeking the opinion of Dick Cheney and Karl Rove on foreign affairs is like asking a rapist his opinion on reproductive rights.
