Your right Duff,..my forte is not south Asian history but I bounced your comment off several friends of mine at a big ten university and they totally agreed with me. The Taliban is looking at when we get out and will do exactly what I thought they would,……stock up and be ready when we leave. Although it looks like the Sec of Defense and Sec Clinton put a different spin on it.

What a let down!
It”s back to the Khyber Pass again, with kilts whirling, pipes whining, a la Gunga Din.
I expected a complete withdrawal, like the one we’re waiting that was promised in Iraq.
All this amounts to is a replay of the Bush years.
Not one American, or, member of the coalition forces, should die or get mangled in this idiotic surge.
Cheney said withdrawal from Iraq would result in mass murder.
Didn’t we hear the same about Afghanistan the other night uttered by our president?
When will they ever learn?

obviously alot of the pissed off probably aren’t military. their right wing tough guys who have never seen combat smelled the death. i’m ex army a 63b20 mech.was up country(quantri) only 2 days when after filling sandbags all day two duce and a halfs came to the replacement area for some chow in the area where we had been filling sand bags,in the back were these black bags,we didn’t know what they were and they’er were 20+of stacked up.needless to say i was sick as hell for two days when i learned from one the drivers that they had just returned from charlie 2 or alfa 4 with the dead from a rocket attack.ever since then i’ve held all you cats in the highest regard that carried a rifle for this country.thanks for your service from a grateful vet.

So correct, as you so often are – so many others are afraid to speak their mind out of fear that, in some way, they could be taken out.

As we are both former combat Marines, we both have the taste of whats its about on the ground. The literal smell of death, the constant fear, the paranoia, the killing of innocents, stuffing our buddies intestines back in their gut, talking to them knowing damn well they will be zipped up in a body bag in minutes.

And of course, its our fellow Marines who will always be the first to deploy, the first to die, and the last to mop up and leave.

I salute you brother for having no fear and speaking the truth. As I have written, and so many others, we have no business being in Afghanistan, let alone escalating a no reason, no purpose war.

As a part time military history prof, I find it rather distrubing that we or any nation would let the enemy, or so they say, know the approximate time we would be leaving. If I were the Taliban or the so called terrorists over in that area, I would re arm, stockpile, hunkerdown, get more heavier weapons and wait 18 months.

I too am a veteran of three tours in Iraq, and was awarded the Bronze Star. And it wasn’t just for being an officer. Infact I was just a SSG doing my job. Awards are just Decoration for my Class A uniform. All I ever see on this site are raceist remarks about the president and that isreal is to blame for our problems. But we are to blame all of us. We keep electing the same crooks to the house and senate. That is the root problem. If we get lawmakers that care about the people and not their own pockets we’ll be fine.. But Mr Obama is the ligit president. Live with it already.

I assume when you state Warriors are born, not Train(ed) You are describing yourself as a Warrior. So exactly when was the last time you used those “born with abilities?” Your bravado filled rants would be much more convincing if you were writing them from a battlefield somewhere.
Also, I read when we replace the first letter of our last name with the first letter of our first name we learn the true nature of our being. Mines Dotsford. I’m sure that probably means Super Duper Warrior in “being speak.” I wonder what yours says…. Oh! nevermind. LOL

The “president,” if you want to call him that, lied because he is a politician and lying is what they all do whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent. You can see and feel the lies in all levels of government, local, county, state and federal. We need people like we once had in government. Ordinary people like us who don’t make politics a career. People in office who honestly want to do a job and then leave when it’s over. There is too much celebrity afforded to politicians today and it goes to their swelled heads. Obama is no different. We are going to be involved in Afghanistan for a long, long time. Even if Obama pulls the troops out, coincidently, just before he is due to be re-elected, they will have to return. Make no mistake about it, radical Islam is determined to spread in the world and, in fact, already has spread worldwide. As Bush said on the day of the 9/11 attack, we are fighting a war now without end. Put the fire out in one place, and it springs up in another. We are involved in the second wave of a war that began a thousand years ago, The Crusades. It’s in a different version now to suit modern times, but it’s the same war. We are having trouble seeing if we are winning or not because we are not fighting any country. We are fighting a radical philosophy, and how do you know when you have won or lost the war?

Watergate didn’t become a real problem until after 1973.

Of the Kerry McCain cabal, why are you saying that Kerry did the things McCain did?

Man oh man, you really need to fact check once akay, for instance you mention Nixon and Vietnam correct…WRONG!!! BIG TIME WRONG!!!!!…Nixon has N.V. on its knees and N.V. had agree to withdrawn and not I repeat NOT engage in anymore action against S.V., in turn We (Thats us the U.S.) would STOP BOMBING N.V.. Fact check it idiot.

Then Nixon got caught up in watergate (as a matter of fact a lot of people think Nixon was set up for that..do some fact checking) anyhow when Nixon Resign and I think it was Ford who took over..well, N.V. saw its chance and started again against S.V. and the promise to start bombing N.V. never happen…therefore after a few more yrs of fighting we sign a peace agreement and withdrew. Hey Idiot how many of the enemy was killed in Tet of 1968 Vs us? I bet you don’t know do you? Try over 32,000 of them and a anywhere between 1 and 2 thousand of us. Now tell me the kill rato..idiot…As a matter of fact WE never lost a battle in Vietnam..fact check that! Our kill rato was something like 10 to 1, fact check that….

And as far as leaving the POW’s behind..Mister your flat ass wrong and thats a LIE and a BIG LIE and you know it….Why don’t YOU go ask JOHN THE COMMIE KERRY AND JOHN McCAIN about that..idiot…Kerry was caught by his own aids shedding the documents to the POW’s (the orginal ones).
