<description>As Chairman of the 70th Anniversary WWI National Committe, I can attest to the poor condition of the may WWI monuments throught the United States. In cooperation with the Amercan Legion Posts, these were all cleaned, refurbished and restored in that time period.

We were never aware of a D.C.WWI Memorial then.
It is the same in France. Often, no WWI memorial exists and if it does,
it is magnificient under the US Battle Monuments Commission
and the individual organizations like the First Division Foundation, Wheaton, IL. State funding for support of these monuments is often non-existent due to lake of interest and remote locations.

For the 100th Anniversay of WWI, The French Government is planning a new museum in the Meuse Region to propely recognize the American and French participation in the War and it will be a truly superb interactive type museum. IN the near future, action will take place to have this Museum completed in time for 2017, date of American entry into the WWI.

Recently, to honor WWI American Aviators,a private initative was completed for the Remicourt Aerodrome, the 50th Aero Squadron and two(2) Medal of Honar Awardees, Lts Goettler &amp; Bleckley to memeorilaize where none existed until Oct 7, 2009--91 years after the fact!! <description>We have a very nice WWI National Memorial here in Kansas City. We just spent a bunch a money a few years ago to clean up the memorial. Yes, I understand that there should be one in DC, but I do not want people to think that there isn&#039;t an memorial for the veterans of WWI. If you would like more information on it, please visit:
