Editor’s Picks: News and Opinion Around the Web

Haiti dominates the news and our picks today as the struggle continues to provide emergency services, and basic necessities to a population growing increasingly desperate in a country without government or critical infrastructure. On a lighter note, as if anything about global climate change can be taken lightly, if you’re confused about the issue Michael Winship says “Ask a Jellyfish.”

  1. I’m just waiting for a General (or some other Idiot) to say that ‘Any person found pregnant here will be subject to court martial, I need everyone of you there’, not taking into account that if ‘everyone’ of them is so important, then why is the pay scale so low, living conditions stink and why can’t they get the equipment they need? I know “you go to war with what you have”.
Can’t help but remember a few years ago when the base Commander in Central California was diagnosed with Valley Fever (people in central California will click on this Allergy type of thing) to a degree that they were thinking about transferring him. All the time he spent in the Emergency room and he took so many medications he couldn’t stay awake. Hmmm, now that’s what we need, a mist that makes the Taliban sneeze and gives away his position…. We put it in the explosives they use for the IEDS too and anybody with a lot of ‘yuck’ on their sleeve is a bad guy.
