SC Lt. Gov. Compares Poor to ‘Stray Animals’ – AOL News

AOL News is reporting tonight that the Lt. Governor of South Carolina, Andre Bauer, who is running to replace the ill-fated Mark Sanford as governor, has openly compared the poor of his state to stray animals.  When given a chance to explain himself, he only dug himself deeper into a hole.

I am not sure what to say.  Somehow or other “wow” just does not have the power I am looking to register.  The story appears on the Sphere blog tonight and is entitled SC Lt. Gov. Compares Poor to ‘Stray Animals’ .

This is the New South?  It looks remarkably like the Old South.

If this is the kind of “enlightened politics” we are going to be facing this Fall in the South and other “conservative” parts of the American electorate, I would rather be a citizen of some banana republic.  At least in those governments the hatred is a lot more above board and the fascism is openly endorsed as normal.

We are in serious trouble economically in our nation.  There will be more than the normal share of “poor people” in our economy for many years to come because  of the shenanigans of the “Robber Barons of Wall Street” essentially sending tens of millions of Americans to the poor house.

If this is the kind of support we can expect from highly placed government officials running for office, when this is coupled to the recent Supreme Court decision to allow corporate entities to flush unlimited amounts of money into elections we have a recipe for a police state covered over with a veneer of social engineering that will make American politics every bit as radical and dangerous as German politics in the 1920s and 1930s ever was.

Welcome to the new paradigms present in Amerikan politics.  Amerika is here to stay I am afrad.

CWO3 Tom Barnes, USCG (Ret.)

  1. the poor and ignorant have pulled this country down-i live in third world catholic country-all they do is fuck, fiesta, football and foreign aid-america the new haiti!

  2. How does the poor get out of poverty? Education. Taking free/reduced lunch from poor kids? Probably not the best idea.

  3. Jr,Yes you are indeed ignorant and probably poor, but hey man, people like you could never be so influential as to pull this country down !

There are millions of poor, realitivly uneducated Americans who in fact make this country a great place to live, you are not one of them !

    • you do not know me!i am not poor or ignorant!-

      • james-educate me-insulting me is not the way to go-to me veterans attacking veterans is disrespectful-to me this is foolish-veterans need civilized conversations- on any subject!

  4. jr, i agree. i work every day so my kids can have what they need. i dont do it to support the rest of the usa. i just want everyone who receives assistance to be accountable for it. if that means they have to work 5 of 7 days like me, so be it.
if unable to work, i want limits placed on what the assistance can be used for. quit giving them free money and make them responsible.

    • mom-the taxpayer is being milked to no end-by the poor -by the rich-by foreign countries-it is all a scam! the american taxpayer is a first class chump!my wife has 8 kids-the moment the men heard she was pregnant it was adios-she raised her kids as a single parent in a banana republic without the government or church-her kids are great people-all the programs in the us perpetuate poverty-

  5. Well, I going to stray from what is being said by the people above, and I’m going to stay on the first subject. Ahemm, so South Carolina still has a governor that got caught cheating on his wife (with a ‘squeeze’ from South America, natch), another Representative that interrupts a speech with “you lie!” and the LT. Governor that says this….. Correct me if i’m wrong but didn’t they also try to refuse stimulis funds for schooling? Maybe it’s something in the tobacco there (the ‘good’ stuff they keep), but I thought Louisiana Politicians were the worst, “half of them are under indictment”. Wait!, wait! They just caught the Republican wiretapping buggers there today. Is this wiretapping legal under the ‘Patriot act’? So I think I’ll stick around to see what happens next. I mean, I watched the Watergate trial till I got tired of listening to the lies (an Arm 187 feet long?) and I listened to the OJ murder trial until I figured out he was going to get off no matter what, so hey it’s doable.
