Inside Israeli land grabs
From Lia Tarachansky The Real News
Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed the Israeli government’s support of the settlement movement by planting a tree in each one of the three biggest settlement blocks in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Despite the Israeli government’s support, funding, and approval of settlers, they are often presented in the media as in conflict with the state and the army.
In this report, The Real News’ Lia Tarachansky looks at this claim through a recent lecture by Shir Hever, an economist with the Alternative Information Center. A perfect example of the methodology Hever describes can be seen in the settlement of Kedumim which lies adjacent to the Palestinian village of Kaft Qadum. The Real News spoke to the village council of the Palestinian village and the associate mayor of the settlement about how they’ve expanded and the impact this has had on their lives.

As far as I am concerned Israel can do what she wants. Every time Israel protects herself she is criticized. God bless Israel and I will support this country every chance I get. Israel is surrounded by enemies and is a very small country. I would rather live there than in any of the Arab countries in the area.
Israel is surrounded by enemies because she is an enemy of peace. She’s a racist country that forced its’ way in and displaced an unsuspecting indigenous population by force who now encamps them into occupation. This is NOT a success story but a massive failure!
What’s even more sad is that Israelis LAUGH at us Americans for funding their adventures. They take the money and then make fun of us. This is their game. Wake up! How do I know? I have many solid and well intentioned Jewish American friends who’ve been there, excited to buy into their lie and then come back home shocked at how arrogant and contemptous the Israeli’s are towards America.
In fact, they report that Palestinians are the more pleasant, inviting, and hospitable.
Ignorance of Arab culture and it’s richness is NOT a compliment to you or to many fellow Americans who buy into the media sales pitch that Israel is the land of peace. Bollocks! That place sucks ass! Its’ like being in the south around 1960! Racist all the way!
I urge you to get on both sides and take a look. I suspect that you will learn much from being objective. I think you’ll find that Pan-Arabian culture is quite rich and vast and that we can learn much from being more objective and open-minded. Besides, can we really afford to keep funding other people’s adventures when we are so needy here at home?
