U.S. speeding up arms sales, defenses with Gulf allies – Washington Post
In today’s Washington Post we read in a piece entitled U.S. speeding up arms sales, defenses with Gulf allies that once again, we have found one tool in our tool chest, a hammer. When all you have is a hammer in your tool chest, all of your problems look like nails.
Do we have any other default position when dealing with potential adversaries besides arming every frigging neighbor in the area of the potential enemy with more weapons than God has Himself?
What is it with us and the knee-jerk reaction to sell weapons to people whenever we feel that this country or that group may or may not prove to be an enemy in a future shooting war?
What do we even have a State Department for? We are only going to end up selling weapons to people anyway. We ought to just send the State Department people home and close down Foggy Bottom for good.
It only seems to be an annex to the Pentagon anyway.
