I am sure that there are excesses in Zionist circles that cause pain for all of the world, including the USA and the Palestinians. I am also quite sure that a lot of what you say is true; that the Zionist community and its allies have incredible power over American foreign policy that is way out of alignment with the numbers involved.

But the bottom line is this. We in the West allowed six million Jews to be slaughtered, knowingly or unknowingly, through ignorance or impotency from roughly 1939 to 1945. That happened. These people were gassed or burned like bugs.

This is the logical end of where your argument leads:it reads like this. “These Zionist Jews are a bother. They are causing us trouble. Lets take their power away.” Than what Jeff? Where do we go from there?

How far do we take our irritation with the “power” that Zionist Jews have accumulated over American foreign policy? What do we do about that? Do we lock them up? Do we kill them? Do we have yet another pogrom against these people?

Israel exists as a result of a decision made by the United Nations in the late 1940s to allow a homeland for dispossessed Jews to exist in the Middle East. Whether that was a correct or incorrect decision we could argue all day and night. But the decision was made by a world body and the decision was legal. Israel now exists as a world class state and allied to the U.S. and it is quite powerful and influential, especially for its small size.

Does Israel have undo influence on American foreign policy? The answer may very well be “yes”. Should Americans be wary of Israeli intentions relative to its influence over American foreign policy? Of course, but the same can be said for Canadian or French or Angolan or Brazilian or German influence over American foreign policy.

We either have a foreign and domestic set of policies based on American interests or we do not. It is in the eye of the beholder whether or not “this” or “that” particular policy decision is anti or pro Israeli at any given time. My personal opinion is that the U.S. has always tried to be as even handed as possible in American foreign policy in that part of the world for several decades now. Of course there will be those that disagree with me, but that is how I see it.

You have strong feelings that Zionists are ruining our foreign policy. I understand that. You may very well be right. I don’t think you are, but you might be.
