Now I have not seen this particular movie for several reasons. The first was because by the time I was able to go ot the movies, it was not showing there anymore.

The second is because there is a particular Soldier that is not too happy because he is claiming that he was the person being portrayed as the main character, and has not been compensated for his actions. So, unless or until this matter has been straightened out, I refuse to help someone that is not helping the cause of the actual story/movie.

""The film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the first female to win the Oscar for Best Director, and written by journalist Mark Boal, stars Jeremy Renner as Staff Sgt. William James, an adrenaline-addicted bomb defuser who occasionally puts his unit at risk. Members of EOD teams in southern Iraq said in interviews arranged by the Army that “The Hurt Locker” is a good action movie if you know nothing about defusing roadside bombs or the military.

An EOD team leader in Maysan province, Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Phillips, said, “My interest is bringing myself and my team members home alive, with all of our appendages in the right place.”

Although he was glad the film highlighted their trade, he disliked the celluloid treatment of EOD units. “There is too much John Wayne and cowboy stuff.”
""

So, no one has ever watched "PLATOON, FULL METAL JACKET, A BRIDGE TOO FAR" or any other Hollywood movies that combine a little bit of realism and a lot of hooplah to keep the audience awake.

Think about it, if they showed what actually went on, they'd see that there are a huge amounts of boring, time wasted, "hurry up and wait," and everything else that goes hand in hand with the Military daily lifestyle. And no one would go to the movies or reccomend it to their friends.

What were the critics looking for? Reality? Hey guys, this is only a movie not a documentary. That movie is like 99% of the combat movies I have seen. Sure as hell a lot of Hollywood thrown in. I have seen about all the ones on Korea and I know what is real and what is not, and I only laugh at it as presented. Lies and foolish acts add to it for the general public. Unless a combat vet they think it is all true. Like the guy that had a grenade thrown in his foxhole, flying about ten feet in the air and more than that from the foxhole There is not a time to kill the movie. If it was there would not have been so many watching it. It's like a guy from WW 2 that said all his clothes were blown off. Only in the movies does that happen. Not to say some are not blown off. I was within 4 feet of a grenade, and about all that was nearly blown off was my knee and helmet. Don't know to this day where that ended up. Had to get another from one of my dead comrades.

No disrepect to the troops but those who have control over Washington DC decisions also have control over Hollywood decisions. A hollow cast indeed.
