Agent Orange Victims Aren’t Enough for Monsanto; Now GM Food

Danang, Vietnam I have written about the evils of the company called Monsanto several times now. For those of you who do not know, Monsanto was not only the largest producer of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War, but the components of Agent Orange that they produced consisted of the highest concentration of dioxin – which is one of the deadliest poisons known to man.
Monsanto is the maker of Round-up. Monsanto was the maker of Aspartame. Monsanto is now the world’s largest producers of GM (Genetically Modified) seeds in the world. Aside from trying to play God and manipulating life at its very core, Monsanto strong-arms farmers to buy their seeds, and if they do not, the farmers are sued, taken to court, caused to file bankruptcy – and in the case of India, hundreds have committed suicide as a result. The crop yields promised by Monsanto is NOT what is resulting. The reduction in use of the herbicide Round-up is NOT what is resulting. We now have several cases pending at the Federal level that could indeed put this company out of business for good, but we need your help. Remember friends, this is the company that killed and maimed so many of us and other innocent victims – and now, three generations later, the terrible affects are no where near gone. How would anyone use their products, eat food from the crops of their seeds, is beyond me. But even worse, the gene manipulation that is taking place could indeed cause such calamity in the human race as well as our environment – unknown horrors will indeed occur.
Our fellow activist and colleague, Mr. Len Aldis, is a man who has done more for Agent Orange Victims here in Vietnam than anyone else I know. Please take a few minutes and visit the below link. Read the article. Post a comment showing your support. It is this kind of grass roots movement that we MUST have to end the insanity known as Monsanto.

Semper Peace!

Chuck — If Roberts and Stevens abstained from the case, that left a decidely left leaning Court. If a left leaning Court declined to rule in Viet Nam’s favor, there must be a lot more to this case than what appears to be a publicity stunt.
There is no question in my mind that the dioxins in Agents Orange, White, Purple, etc. causes both short and long-term disabilities and sicknesses. However, a question I have is if we were valid legally to be in sovereign South Viet Nam under the guise of our obligations to the then SEATO then why were the North Vietnamese, who had their own sovereign country, insisting on penetrating down the Ho Chi Minh Trail and across the DMZ between North and South Vietnam to raise hell? If they had just stayed home, we wouldn’t have bombed and Agent Rainbowed what was then North Nam and the northern reaches of South Nam. In fact, we would never have been in South Nam there in the first place.
Therefore, I conclude that the residual Viet Nam itself is responsible for the Agent Rainbow mayhem on their citizens. America IS responsible for the incredible harm our military personnel suffered from those Agents — including me by the way, according to my medicial reports.
(North) Viet Nam was a perpetrator along with Monsanto. To me, they have equal culpability. Monsanto for not informing the military of the short and long term dangers of dioxin. If the American REMF generals knew, then the buck slows with them, REPUBLICAN Eisenhower, DEMOCRAT Kennedy and stops with DEMOCRAT Lyndon Johnson with REPUBLICAN Richard Nixon doing a poor job trying to clean up the mess.

You can do all you want to assuage your guilt for being buried way down the Nam food chain like the rest of us. But Chuck, IT WASN’T YOUR FAULT! I can’t speak for how you conducted yourself in combat — but Duff says you are a pretty good guy and that’s good enough for me.
Excellent article Chuck! Readers may wish to watch a powerful Vietnamese Television interview with Len Aldis at http://www.lenaldis.co.uk/page27.html
Thanks Mark. It is indeed an excellent interview as Len is a wonderful speaker and humanitarian. The cause must be heard and Len says it better than anyone.

Tom-
Thanks for your comments. Why did we chose to invade a sovereign nation? I believe the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the lie that it was and was finally admitted to, was one of the major reasons. The second one is what I am referring to – the one which gave Johnson legal authority by our Congress to commence open warfare. But we can go back to the 40′s and 50′s when we “took over” for the French. My opinion? Paranoia. The domino theory. Monday morning quarterbacking is wonderful now that we are where we are 40 years later. Heck, we were kids and knew nada of what we were getting involved in. But the governments involved as well as those at the general/admiral (and probably lower) ranks knew damn well. Admiral Zumwalt ordered the river beds be sprayed here and sure, the casualty rate dropped – but very tragically, his son died as a result of exposure to Agent Orange and his grandson suffered severe learning disabilities also as a result of the dioxin poisoning being passed down genetically.
I am moving from my original point Tom. Remove Agent Orange from the equation (I am not sure how anyone can)and just look at Monsanto from the GM perspective. That is where today’s argument is.
Please have a look at the following short documentaries:
Food Inc.
The World According to Monsanto
King Corn
There are more, but those are a good start.
No, it was not our fault Tom. I realize that now. But it is our fault if we continue to let companies like Monsanto, Governments like the US, Justices like Thomas, etc., continue to do what they are doing. Keeping silent, doing nothing, makes us as guilty as them.
Please be safe and get your claim filed if you haven’t already.

I am one of three persons trying to help the people of post-earthquake Haiti by sending two ambulances we purchased on E-Bay to Haiti loaded with medical equipment and supplies.
We have a new website (www.dont4gethaiti.org) which is now being added to every day. At this moment, I am writing about Monsanto for the site. Monsanto has shipped a large quantity of genetically-modified seeds to Haiti and is claiming this is a “gift.” I am attempting to include some historical background about the use of Agent Orange (2,4,5-T) which was designed and manufactured by Monsanto and Dow Chemicals for deployment in Viet Nam.(*)
Can you either tell or refer me to a reliable source documenting the number of Agent Orange-related deaths among U.S. veterans who served in Viet Nam? I have been researching this for a period on the Internet without success thus far?
Please visit the website at your leisure. Thank you in advance for your interest and assistance.
Sincerely,
Louis Wolf

(*) I lived and worked in Laos during 1964-67 as a civilian rural development worker, and am equally concerned about the use of Agent Orange and other chemical agents in Laos (as well as in Cambodia).
Monsanto; evil beyond belief I would say!
