I’m at Cannon AFB, which is similarly situated in that it is next to a small town [Clovis, NM] and is 120 miles from the next largest city [Lubbock, TX]. People in these isolated military towns treat the military as a cash cow to be milked at every opportunity. Reactivating Selfridge and moving the Ellsworth facilities there would send an INCREDIBLE message to the small-town hucksters that make their cash ripping off the military; if Rapid City can’t get with the program and start treating our personnel right, it’s time to move on, they’ve had a long time to fix this.

Thanks for that, G. Way to show everyone who reads this that Rapid City, is in fact, what they are saying. I live in Rapid City and am deeply saddened by what is going on. In order for evil to win, good men (and women) do nothing. I, however, don’t think that Rapid city is the only town with such a problem. Time for people to get involved instead of watch from the sidelines.

When I first saw the sign, I felt it HAD come from Rapid. I did not really like it being posted unless it was from Rapid. Things are bad enough there w/o putting in that sign, but knowing you, you will do about anything to get a point across. It sure hit home but in my opinion there should not be add ons unless part of the city of Rapid. Maybe I am wrong, but it makes me feel like a lie has been posted. Enough said, Bob Y

What a mess in this day and age. I look back at 1951 when I was in Fort Benning, Ga. By this time the Army had stopped the segregation, but when I went on pass to any of the areas around the base, there was still
segregation in them. I can’t understand how they can keep doing this in Rapid and get away with it. In the 50s yes, tho not right it was still going on and should not have been. The twin city of Columbus Ga. was Phoenix City Ala. That place was so full of money making politicians and the black people got the shaft. It was so full of graft that they made a movie from there. The movie was made a short time after I was discharged. I want to know about the sign in your post. Where did that come from? Was it made just for your post?——–Bob Y

Duffy we didn’t stop the spread of the nazi regime at the end of combat in WW11,we just imported it polished it up,gave it a political party and then incorporated it into our society.most of those bigots have not served in any military branch they’re to chicken shit.they have no respect for the average joe or jane who puts their own life on the line for these cowards only to come home and now fight for their own rights and freedoms!the only thing that comes to mind is they are pussies, and if they were ever in combat on my side,stay out of my periphiral vision!

I’m glad that the bigotry and small minded hatred that exists here in Rapid City has finally made it to the main stage. I have personally been subjected to the Rapid City Police’s prejudice towards homosexuals, having to go so far as to meet with the Police Chief at the time to find resolution to the situation.
I hope that Newsome wins her case and takes them to the cleaners.

Thanks for the report! I Google Mapped Rapid City, South Dakota, and learned that Mt. Rushmore is quite nearby — source of the closest hotels and eateries. It would be too bad if real Americans just stopped going to Rapid City. No lodging, no food, no souvenirs, no gas — nothing!

Just up the road a ways is Sturgis, South Dakota — a city that welcomes Bikers of all kind. When these guys and gals learn of Rapid City’s DIRTY LAUNDRY, they’ll avoid the town like the plague, because they support Our Troops regardless of color or life style.

Ahhh… Rapid City, South Dakota … ghost town.
