Update: Racism, Homophobia Dominates Tea Party Protest Over Health Care Bill
Pictures from the Huffington Post, no brothers and sisters of color in the shots. Joan Walsh from Salon demands Republicans denounce the racism. Democrats, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) blast Tea Party bigotry.
“Nigger.” Faggot.” Spitting, screaming, the Tea Party shows its ignorance and hate. Take a stand, people.

I would like to know why you do not show the positive side of the tea party movement, i myself am a disabled veteran who supports this movement. It makes me wonder if this website is not run by the far left. If you are all supposed to be veterans then you are probably the likes of john kerrry who likes be awarded their purple heart from a sliver, I must say I’m highly dissapointed by your accussations, but being on the left you probably could care less what the AMERICAN people really want…………….
Mr. Olds,
Although all veterans have something in common–our service–that doesn’t mean that we all have to see eye-to-eye. It’s easy to be swayed and motivated by emotional manipulation. It’s easy to tell anyone to “look on the bright side” so that they don’t acknowledge reality. Reality, today, is too full of exploitation, inequality, injustice, and oppression–yes, even right here in the good ‘ole U-S-of-A. While “we the people” all generally want what’s best for “we the people”, the ruling class couldn’t care a rat’s ass.
Our very system is built on the ideal that profits and the accumulation of wealth are the most important things there are. When that’s the case, people can never come first. That’s the nature of our Capitalistic system–people aren’t as important as profits. The system that ensures profits must be maintained at all costs. Change is good . . . so long as it benefits the ruling class and the wealthy elite. However, change that benefits the people is colored in a pale light in comparison.
Since the signing of the Federal Reserve Act by President Wilson in 1913, our government (and our military) have done the bidding of wealthy elites, the largest banks, and big business in general. (Read “War Is a Racket” by Maj. General Smedley D. Butler, USMC) Those who control the money control all else. Since the Federal Reserve ( a private bank) controls our money, they essentially control everything. Their only interest is profits and maintaining the system that works for them. Any wonder why corporations have been adjudicated the rights of people and thereby the protections of the Bill of Rights at the same time that the USA Patriot Act strips those very rights from “we the people”? Ever wonder why campaign finance reform has never passed? Ever wonder why we’ve never been without some sort of military action, whether a declared war or not? It’s because all those things are necessary to maintain the system that benefits the elite ruling class.
As I understand, the TEA Party is against taxes. Well, some will argue that taxes are necessary to provide government services. However, while that’s the theory, it’s not the reality under which we live. In truth, all our income tax revenue goes to pay interest on our national debt. Ever wonder why we have a national debt in the first place? Because since the passage of the Federal Reserve Act, our government has had to borrow (at interest) money from the (private) Federal Reserve Bank. Since then, our national debt has constantly climbed, thanks to compound interest. Do you know the interest on $9 trillion? Why should our taxes go to make private bankers richer??? If the TEA Party really wants to lower taxes, then it should be recommending the abolition of the Federal Reserve Bank and the restoration of the Constitutional right of maintaining our currency to Congress and the US Treasury where it belongs.
While there are few who would argue that our government is perfect as is, the TEA Party is not the answer. Unfortunately, the TEA Party is little more, at best, than another attempt to divide the population and further whittle away at our liberties and well being. At worst, it’s an attempt to incite a violent civil disturbance that can be used to declare Martial Law under the legislation passed under the Bush Administration. Know what happens when the federal government declares a National State of Disaster and enacts Martial Law?
After reading the TEA Party’s website, I found little information on a real direction that would truly benefit “we the people”. Some of the ideals are even at odds with one another. The “core values” stated on the website are little more than Republican/Conservative (in other words, Capitalistic) talking points–they’re nothing new. Furthermore, they’ve all contributed to the mess we have today.
Fiscal responsibility is a misnomer that means no spending for social problems but “pork” and war spending is ok–keep borrowing money (at interest) from the (private) Federal Reserve Bank. Constitutionally limited government means deregulation. Deregulation is what gave the pharmaceutical industry its boon of medication advertising on tv; gave us sky-rocketing utility fees, the health care/insurance crisis, the IT bubble, the Real Estate bubble, hedge-funds, sub-prime lending, CEOs making 900 times the average wage, and countless recessions. Free Markets lead to monopolizing, corporate takeovers, and labor exploitation (including shipping our jobs overseas for cheap labor). So, unless you consider maintaining the status quo as a good thing, there’s little positive about the TEA Party!
The bottom line is, as veterans, we all hold the Constitution in high regard. However, that very regard is what was used to manipulate us throughout our military career and beyond. It’s an ideal that makes us obedient in the guise of being loyal and patriotic. Truth be told, if you wanted to be true to and uphold the Constitution, you’d call for an open rebellion to overthrow the government and eliminate the upper class who are dead-set against the Constitution. If you want change to benefit the people, you’d destroy the Federal Reserve Bank and all stock exchanges, disband the (drug-dealing, gun-running, and dictator-supporting) CIA, make it treason to order the invasion of another country and station our troops abroad, make corporate profits illegal, provide a free (college) education to all citizens, provide all citizens universal health care, and guarantee all citizens food, shelter, and an annual income (earned or otherwise).
Since the TEA Party is not for these things, then they’re not for positive change. If they’re not for positive change, then there’s nothing positive about them!
