For those employers looking to use this great new program to hire Veterans, there is a wonderful resource to help. The US Department of Labor initiative America's Heroes at Work, www.AmericasHeroesAtWork.gov, is an online resource providing information about accommodations and supports, eliminating stigmas in the workplace and putting best management practices to use to successfully employ today's transitioning service members and veterans. It provides free fact sheets, online training and other tools for HR, hiring managers, supervisors and peers to use in recruiting, hiring and retention.

Perhaps you might have an idea. As a dir of a large county veterans office in Michigan for twenty years, I checked into this personally. There were not errors but both applicants scored identical scores. It was my impression that the edge should go towards the veteran. it sure the hell didn't in this case. Perhaps you have other info. I saw five different directors at the VAMC where I was. I know who and who wasn't a veteran and was responsible for the removable of one dir., an associate and a chief of medical admin. Do your own checking and if you are a veteran who is worth a damn you will see and understand that they are not hiring veterans like they should perhaps you not only have your own blinders on but ear plugs as well.....Nam 69-71` and the Gulfwar 90-91

SgtMaj, you were plausible, to an extent as there could have been reasons as to the hire, till this >"Did you ever notice the directors surround themselves with non veterans?"<

Might try removing those blinders within, seems you're seeing only what you want to and thinking same!

Its too bad they couldn't do something about the hiring of veterans for VA hospitals. Our local one has 29% veterans and the Milwaukee hospital has 31%. That, is terrible. My son, an AF Iraqi vet, an engineering degree, certified in heating and refrigeration, graduated from a very excellent school number five in his class. It came down to he and another. They hired the other who was from another country with a green card and a non veteran. Did you ever notice the directors surround themselves with non veterans? Anyway, the hiring of veterans by VAMC is not good at all.
