Arizona Gov. Signs Bill Targeting Ethnic Studies, Goes ‘Old South’
Nein! No Mexican-American studies program

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill targeting a school district’s ethnic studies program, hours after a report by United Nations human rights experts condemned the measure.
State schools chief Tom Horne, who has pushed the bill for years, said he believes the Tucson school district’s Mexican-American studies program teaches Latino students that they are oppressed by white people.
Public schools should not be encouraging students to resent a particular race, he said.
“It’s just like the old South, and it’s long past time that we prohibited it,” Horne said.
Brewer’s signature on the bill Tuesday comes less than a month after she signed the nation’s toughest crackdown on illegal immigration — a move that ignited international backlash amid charges the measure would encourage racial profiling of Hispanics. The governor has said profiling will not be tolerated.
The measure signed Tuesday prohibits classes that advocate ethnic solidarity, that are designed primarily for students of a particular race or that promote resentment toward a certain ethnic group.
The Tucson Unified School District program offers specialized courses in African-American, Mexican-American and Native-American studies that focus on history and literature and include information about the influence of a particular ethnic group.
For example, in the Mexican-American Studies program, an American history course explores the role of Hispanics in the Vietnam War, and a literature course emphasizes Latino authors.
Horne, a Republican running for attorney general, said the program promotes “ethnic chauvinism” and racial resentment toward whites while segregating students by race. He’s been trying to restrict it ever since he learned that Hispanic civil rights activist Dolores Huerta told students in 2006 that “Republicans hate Latinos.”
District officials said the program doesn’t promote resentment, and they believe it would comply with the new law.
The measure doesn’t prohibit classes that teach about the history of a particular ethnic group, as long as the course is open to all students and doesn’t promote ethnic solidarity or resentment.
About 1,500 students at six high schools are enrolled in the Tucson district’s program. Elementary and middle school students also are exposed to the ethnic studies curriculum. The district is 56 percent Hispanic, with nearly 31,000 Latino students.
Sean Arce, director of the district’s Mexican-American Studies program, said last month that students perform better in school if they see in the curriculum people who look like them.
“It’s a highly engaging program that we have, and it’s unfortunate that the state Legislature would go so far as to censor these classes,” he said.
Six UN human rights experts released a statement earlier Tuesday saying all people have the right to learn about their own cultural and linguistic heritage, they said.
Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman didn’t directly address the UN criticism, but said Brewer supports the bill’s goal.
“The governor believes … public school students should be taught to treat and value each other as individuals and not be taught to resent or hate other races or classes of people,” Senseman said.
Arce could not immediately be reached after Brewer signed the bill late Tuesday.

Til this day the ADL hasn’t come out and condemn the comments against the Arizona immigration bill, there no different the politicans from both parties.

When I was a kid on the West Coast, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt — a committed left wing liberal, removed from their property and INTERNED 200,000 Japanese descended Americans in “internment” camps. Then, Democrat Harry Truman dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. Two liberal fascist Democrats, Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson fueled the Viet Nam conflict.

The workers in producer states in Mexico, Central and South America do NOT even touch the stuff. To them, it’s just a job. If someone wants to pay them $ 2 a lb for weed and only 25 cents a pound for corn, they, like we would simply grow what pays them more. Separately, two Marxist theorists-Antonio Gramsci of Italy and Georg Lukacs of Hungary-concluded that the Christianized West was the obstacle standing in the way of a communist new world order. The West would have to be conquered first.
Gramsci posited that because Christianity had been dominant in the West for over 2000 years, not only was it fused with Western civilization, but it had corrupted the workers class. The West would have to be de-Christianized, said Gramsci, by means of a “long march through the culture.” Additionally, a new proletariat must be created. In his “Prison Notebooks,” he suggested that the new proletariat be comprised of many criminals, women, and racial minorities.

I have to say something here…first I’m really disappointed VT isn’t supporting AZ…it’s the same law as the federal law..the only difference is it’s being enforced..and it’s working…jobs are opening up for Americans and hostile crowds (yes Mexicans- demanding their “rights”) are diminishing. After watching a video recently of illegal Mexican citizen children being picked up at the border and bused to American schools, at U.S. taxpayer expense, I think Governor Brewer is due all the support we as Americans can give her and removing inflammatory curriculum is another step in restoring American constitutional rights, and maybe even save in the “adult evening classes” provided again by taxpayer programs. If they want to become American citizens make them do it right…
We strongly support enforcement of Federal Law. We do NOT support State or Federal law enforcement asking American Citizens for their papers unless they are crossing borders. I hope that clarifies our position.

Do you really think getting rid of ethnic classes is going to stop resentment against white people? Are you going to stop redlining, school and housing segregation, too. How about job discrimination? I hauled produce after my return from Viet Nam back in the early 70′s and let me tell you some simple facts that even you simple minded asses can understand… Back than even in Nogalas Az, in 100 plus weather there were very few Mexicans if any loading the produce trucks… The main work force comprised of mostly white and black guys that were going to school and to make money to pay for their schooling…. So for those of you that don’t know what your talking about, go to HELL… And now with all the modern equiptment including pallets, which back in the day all loads were put on the floors by hand and air conditioning and shorter work hours, and good pay with benifits, we don’t need the cheep, sick labor from Mexico…. Get your heads out of your asses people we have to start someplace to close our boarders and get control back.. Those that want to enter like everyone else has to, they are welcome…

I am an American, not a Hispanic, Latin or whatever they want to call us. My Dad was born in this country and later drafted into WWII after he was repatriated to a country he never belonged, Mexico. Yes, he was told that he needed to go back where he came from! My dad been a decent man went to Mexico to start a new life in a new country to him. Yet, in 1942, he was sent a draft notice, again, my dad being a decent man return back to this country and entered the war. Soon after arriving in Germany, his entire company was captured by the German and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp. When he was released after Polish commandos liberated them he was repatriated back to America. I have seen and experienced the abuse of the legal system. It is degrading when you are excluded from ID check because you are different. At a bus station in Ft Stockton I was approached by this heavy set sheriff and asked me for my ID. Simon, I bleed for you man, My dad went through the same shit in world war II, he didn’t spend a lot of time in a prison but was in every invasion in Europe and Italy.. Illegal entry is a felony, punishable by two years imprisonment. Document fraud and alien marriage fraud are also subject to fine and imprisonment.
Foreigners can be expelled from Mexico without due process of law. Reentry after expulsion merits ten years imprisonment.
All law enforcement officials must enforce immigration laws and deportations. The military must assist them and native born Mexicans can make citizens arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities, etc. etc.

Arizona is right. What do these people not get about illegal entrance into another sovereign country? Those who defend the illegal (not “undocumented”) invaders? Catch them lock them up for five years…then send them packing.
