Congressman raises issue of fraudulent activity at Brentwood VA
In response to the IRS Tax-Fraud Complaint I filed with the IRS on April 13, 2010 and also sending a copy of same on April 14, 2010 to Congressman C.W. “Bill” Young (R) of the 10th District of Florida in St. Petersburg who is my Congressman, along with the story I wrote titled IRS Tax-Fraud Complaint filed against Veterans Park Conservancy(which is set forth in the link below), and passionately expressing my concerns about the chain conspiracy of fraudulent activity between Veterans Park Conservancy, a California non-profit, Donna Beiter, Director of the Brentwood VA, and possibly other VA employees, and Congressman Henry Waxman Congressman (D) for the 30th District of California Los Angeles/Brentwood Community area, and certain Brentwood Community Business and Homeowners Associations, and possibly others, leasing portions of VA land for commercial-profit ventures when this land was exclusively and specifically deeded in 1888 by its Grantor’s for the sole purpose of caring for homeless and disabled Veterans, Congressman Young, in a letter dated May 11, 2010, responded in pertinent part in as follows:
“I received received your letter, dated April 14, 2010, in which you expressed your concern over the VA’s activities at Brentwood VA along with the Veterans Park Conservancy.”
“I certainly appreciate your passion in ensuring that our nation’s veterans are treated equitably along with your concern over alleged fraudulent activity. From the context of your letter I see that you already filed a formal complaint and I trust that the appropriate legal authorities will do a thorough investigation. For my part, I will certainly raise the issue with the VA liaison here on Capitol Hill and if it warrants, I will bring the matter up before the committee, as per your suggestion” (Congressman Young sits on the Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, among others).
“Like yourself, I place a high premium on our veterans and throughout my tenure in Congress I have endeavored to make sure their needs are met. I sincerely appreciate you bringing this matter to my attention.”
UPDATE: After this story was published yesterday, that same day, I received new information from Bob Rosebrock about an upcoming Disney sponsored Celebrity Picnic/Carnival fund-raiser for AIDS scheduled for Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Brentwood VA in which the minimum admission is $1,000 per person.
Rosebrock also advised me that another event dubbed a “bicycle-ride” fund-raiser for AIDS was scheduled by Gay Pride people from the Los Angeles area and that the bike ride would end at and inside the Brentwood VA grounds. Rosebrock also stated that he has seen this event in the past and that there are Gays dress like “drag-queens” and the likes. Rosebrock also went on to say that they display ”POW” signs or flags which stand for “Prevention on Wheels” (relating to the bicycle ride fund-raising). It’s my personal feelings that this Gay Pride ”POW” display sign or flag “mocks” the Veterans/Military “POW” Flag which stands for “Prisoner of War,” and this could be very offensive and upsetting to Veteran-patients at Brentwood VA and other Veterans as well.
At this time I do not know if Disney or the Gay Pride events had to pay to rent the grounds or it was offered free to them. I am currently further investigating this matter.
In any event, although I personally feel fund-raising for AIDS is a worthy cause, and as a Civil Rights Advocate and Member of the ACLU I personally feel that people have the right to choose and display whatever sexual orientation in which they feel comfortable, these kind of events should not be occurring on “hallowed” VA grounds anywhere in the VA Healthcare System with the exception of fund-raising events to raise money to build housing for homeless Veterans, which is “view-point neutral,” as far as I am concerned, and that there not be any kind of offensive or upsetting ”non view-point neutral” spectacles or displays at this event.
Moreover, the Government’s position in its answer to the Rosebrock/ACLU Lawsuit was that in order to protect Veteran-Patients from being offended or getting upset, they could not allow “free speech” on VA grounds unless that speech was “view-point neutral.” I ask you fellow Veterans and other readers, is fund-raising for AIDS or Gays expressing their rights to their sexual orientation “view-point neutral?” Of course it is not.
Furthermore, I would like to thank and praise Congressman Young for taking the lead in investigating this entire matter.
Finally, I informed Congressman Young about this new information in a Fax to his office last night, and also asked him to initiate a full-fledged Congressional Investigation of this entire matter and to use all his powers to stop the above scheduled events from occurring. I will also be sending this update to him as well.
Congressman Young is now in his 20th Term in Congress for the 10th District of Florida.

twenty terms in congress and waxman’s deeds are a mystery to him?
Terry,
Go get those worthless suckers. I still wonder if some of the VA fatcats living in the mansions on the site ever paid taxes for their free digs.
g
Waxman’s just another greedy politician scammer. Has been for years. And yes, Gordon, I’ll bet the VA fatcats ARE riding free and high in Brentwood on “We the People’s” tax dollars.
okay, okay, now let me see if I have this correctly? beacuse some one made an allegation, and now the 20 term pol that has never been involved in this issue says ‘For my part, I will certainly raise the issue with the VA liaison here on Capitol Hill and if it warrants,’…
I am not sure if thats a definet maybe, or, a Demi Moore style strenuos objection ala A Few Good Men?
Young does nothing, he carries no bill, he calls for no hearings, nada, zip, bupkiss.
Either way the posting at this blog is not news at all.
