What Exactly is an Anti-Semite?

Anti-Semites Israel Palestine Arabs

Anti-Semites are Anti-Middle Easterners

 The phrase “Anti-Semite” explained

-

“Anti-Semite” slogan used by American Corporate Media to Confuse U.S. Public

-

As the debate on U.S. Middle East Policy on the State of Israel and the indigenous Palestinian peoples rages on, I have began to notice so many misuses of the word “Semite” specifically when trying to paint someone as anti-Israel or even anti-Jewish that I felt compelled to investigate.

After much research, I have found that the phrase “Anti-Semite” is being misused primarily in the USA by mainstream American corporate media and perpetuated by politicians beholden to lobbies who aim to cause confusion and harm to the debate so that we are automatically pushed in the direction of a specific agenda; this without regard to justice or what’s right for the American people.

Specifically, I have found Semitic peoples are Arabs too and if we mean to charge another with being “anti-Israel” or “anti-Jewish”, use of the phrase “Anti-Semitic” is very confusing as it makes it seem that we are charging the person with being Anti-Arab. I don’t’ think that’s the intent, is it?

Semite refers to a language family and culture of largely Middle Eastern origin, from Samaria, now called the Semitic Culture and languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Akkadian, Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Ge’ez, Hebrew, Maltese, Phoenician, Tigre and Tigrinya among others. As language studies are interwoven with cultural studies, the term also came to describe the extended cultures and ethnicities, as well as the history of these varied peoples as associated by close geographic and linguistic distribution.

In the USA, the Zionist Political Movement has successfully connected the phrase “Anti-Semitic” into being anti-Israel and/or anti-Jewish. Successful marketing? You betcha! Incorrect and doing harm to our intellectual and genuine debate? Absolutely! We need to adjust for the sake of everyone so the debate is very clear.

In lieu;

  1. If you aim to call out another as anti-Israel, the country, please consider calling them “anti-Israel” and make it clear.
  2. If you feel, the person is a bigot and is “anti-Jewish”, make sure to call them “anti-Jewish” so that its’ clear.
  3. Please use phrase “anti-Semitic” if you are describing someone who is anti-Middle Eastern including but not limited to Arab peoples

Finally, as you make your case forward, please consider that;

  • Not all Jews are Zionists
  • Not all Zionists are Jews
  • Zionism is NOT a religion but a political movement

Using correct phrasing and terminology, I strongly encourage all Americans to make their cases forward when it comes to U.S. Middle East Policy and let’s together figure out what’s in the best interests of the United States of America.

  1. Thank you Johnny. Well said. The very nature of Israel’s apartheid policy on Palestinians escalates any “dialog” on the issue to fever pitch. Refer back to the savaging of Jimmy Carter when he referred to Israeli apartheid. Gen. Colin Powell remarked that “criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitism.” Gen. Powell’s assertion got very little traction. Not in America.
Bearing on my body the brandings of “anti-Semite or raving anti-Semite or anti-Semitic son-of-a-bitch”, I know fully well how the “debate” works in America. One isn’t allowed to make a case for Palestine, Palestinians, or disagree with Israel’s apartheid practice. America’s shilling politician class receives inordinate piles of money from Israel’s lobbying concerns. That craven connivance sort of stacks the deck against anyone making the feeble attempt at rational debate. Getting a “fair hearing” on the issue? Yeah, good luck with that.

  2. B.A.

If you have truly been researching Zionism then please do make an effort to refrain from the classic (and false) dodge of “anti-Semitism”, long employed by Zionists and Zionist-controlled media.

    – Criticism of Israel is NOT “Anti-Semitism”
    – Pointing out the historically factual origins of the Ashkenazim supremacist psychopaths who preside over and endorse Israel and its ethnocidal agenda is NOT “anti-Semitism”

    – Expounding on the FACT that the Palestinians and Arab Jews ARE the only actual Semites in the ongoing equation under examination, and that they have long been the victims of non-Semitic Ashkenazi descendants of non-Semitic Khazars is also NOT “anti-Semitism”.

    – Zionists who murder Palestinians, steal their land, call them terrorists for daring to fight back (those with the true right of self defense), and use every means to force them into subjugation ARE “anti-Semites” by the truest definition of the term.

One is not a Semite because of adherence to an ancient religion of semitic origins, even if its practices include use of the ancient tongue. If that were so then Catholic’s would have been Romans at least up until the 1962 Vatican II decision to end the practice of celebrating mass in Latin.

Let’s stop with the repudiation of culpability based on some indoctrinated group exceptionalism, shall we?

  3. Thanks for the lesson in linguistics I was getting really upset that there seemed to be so many anti-semitic remarks written here. It’s only recently that I have researched the Zionist and I became very sensitive to people not making the distinction. Words have power. They can heal or they can hide. They can also lie. All of us must learn how to speak the language correctly.

  4. For what it’s worth:

According to Isaac Asimov’s “Guide To The Bible,” semites were the sons of Shem, Noah’s son, that is, Noah of Noah’s Ark.

“In general, the descendants of Shem are pictured as occupying the Arabian peninsula and the regions adjoining it to the north, including the Trgris-Euphrates region, which is the center of interest in the early portions of Genesis. Since this includes the Hebrews themselves, Shem is given the post of honor and is made the eldest son of Noah. At least, he is mentioned first. It is for this reason that the languages of the people dwelling in this region are referred to as “Semitic.” Sem is the Gracco-Latin form of Shem. These languages include Hebrew, Assyrian, Aramaean, and, as the most important living example, Arabic.”

    That’s all folks.

  5. Lese,

Let us be clear that the article you cite refers to genetic similarity between “Middle Eastern” Jews and Palestinians. Middle Eastern Jews are not Askenazim nor Sephardim, they are the Mizrahim* which remained in Arab lands side by side in peace with their Muslim neighbours for centuries before the political contrivances and armed invasions of Palestine by the Zionists were even a vague notion.

These same Arab Jews are lesser citizens than their Caucasian counterparts in the modern state of Israel.

*footnote: although for administrative simplicity they are subsumed into the body of Sephardic Jewry in the public psyche of Israel.

  6. Journal axes gene research on Jews and Palestinians

A keynote research paper showing that Middle Eastern Jews and Palestinians are genetically almost identical has been pulled from a leading journal.

Academics who have already received copies of Human Immunology have been urged to rip out the offending pages and throw them away.

Such a drastic act of self-censorship is unprecedented in research publishing and has created widespread disquiet, generating fears that it may involve the suppression of scientific work that questions Biblical dogma.

‘I have authored several hundred scientific papers, some for Nature and Science, and this has never happened to me before,’ said the article’s lead author, Spanish geneticist Professor Antonio Arnaiz-Villena, of Complutense University in Madrid. ‘I am stunned.’

British geneticist Sir Walter Bodmer added: ‘If the journal didn’t like the paper, they shouldn’t have published it in the first place. Why wait until it has appeared before acting like this?’

The journal’s editor, Nicole Sucio-Foca, of Columbia University, New York, claims the article provoked such a welter of complaints over its extreme political writing that she was forced to repudiate it. The article has been removed from Human Immunology’s website, while letters have been written to libraries and universities throughout the world asking them to ignore or ‘preferably to physically remove the relevant pages’. Arnaiz-Villena has been sacked from the journal’s editorial board.
The paper, ‘The Origin of Palestinians and their Genetic Relatedness with other Mediterranean Populations’, involved studying genetic variations in immune system genes among people in the Middle East.

In common with earlier studies, the team found no data to support the idea that Jewish people were genetically distinct from other people in the region. In doing so, the team’s research challenges claims that Jews are a special, chosen people and that Judaism can only be inherited.

Jews and Palestinians in the Middle East share a very similar gene pool and must be considered closely related and not genetically separate, the authors state. Rivalry between the two races is therefore based ‘in cultural and religious, but not in genetic differences’, they conclude.

No why would some people want to eradicate the truth about DNA involving Jews and Palestinians?

  7. Rehmat,

I have for years argued this very point, which I am glad to see finally gaining at least nominal exposure here.

Shell game though it may be for disingenuous Ziofascist ideologues and their ignorant and hypocritical mouthpieces, nevetheless as you rightly point out, No Ashkenazi nor Sephardi can lay honest claim to Semitic heritage or genealogy, being as they are descended either from the Indo-Turkic political converts (8th-9th century) to Judaism and therefore “racially” Caucasian, else of Berber descent (arguably racially “Somolid”).

Furthermore to even suggest “Judaism” as a “race” is to essentially adopt the very paradigm which was advanced by the Nazis as the predicate for their de-humanisation. A paradigm one should expect any intellectually-honest and morally principled Jew to eschew entirely.

Judaism is a religion, nothing more regardless of how significantly it might inform certain other commonly observed cultural/ethnic norms and practices. The same could be said of many other religions including Islam. As such, as with other religions, it is adhered to by peoples of numerous “racial” extractions.

Zionism, again as you rightly point out is however a “political” ideology, one which it should be noted was drawn from same 19th century European nationalist, idealist, particularist cauldron of thought which spawned Nazism and South African Dutch Colonialist Apartheid and has displayed its kinship of principle (if not exactitude of methodology) with each since its founding. One need only examine the documented record of Zionism’s close collaboration with the Nazi’s in order to ensure the necessary conditions (societal abuses/atrocities) for the promotion of its agenda for a mass subscription to their “cause” by the mostly comfortably integrated German Jewish population (who initially largely rejected Zionist aims) and ultimately the grand migration to Palestine.

As a pointer to any who would care to inform themselves of the callous and actually anti-Jewish mindset behind Zionism, one may begin with the famous quote from Izaak Greenbaum, head of the Jewish Agency Rescue Committee, in 1943: “One cow in Palestine is worth more than all Jews in Poland” as a guide to their value for human life, even Jewish lives.

Further one might consider the words of David Ben Gurion, first Prime Minister of the modern state of Israel, who in 1938 declared before a meeting of Labour Zionist leaders in England: “If I knew that it would be possible to save all the children in Germany by bringing them over to England, and only half of them by transporting them to Eretz Yisrael, then I would opt for the second alternative. For we must weigh not only the life of these children, but also the history of the People of Israel”.

If that is not enough to incriminate this consistently belligerent ideology and its leading proponents (leaving others for the reader to research for themselves), then consider that the only “Jewish” group which Hitler himself accorded admiration in Mein Kampf was in fact the Zionists. Their adherence to the notion of “race” only affirmed his own misguided views and afforded them license to continue their public operation (and press) even after the passage of Germany’s racial laws in 1935, at least until 1942.

What the modern state of Israel has done and has continued to do to the indigenous Palestinian inhabitants as well as to Christians and even Jews of “lesser” (by Ashkenazi Zionist supremacist rationale) ethnic extraction (minority Arab Jews) for more than 60 years IS Anti-Semitism, by true definition.

In the end my personal preference is view humanity as one race, human, and relegate the debate over distinctions to the realm of ethnicity and culture. Group particularism only leads to atrocity, as we continue to witness.

  8. According to Jewish created Oxford Dictionary – Anti-Semitism means hatred toward Semite people or Jews. However, the great majority of world’s 12.7 million Jewish population is not Semite but Turks from Khazaria and Berbers from North Africa. However, in the West, thanks to the Jewish control over mainstream media – Anti-Semitism mean everything critical of Jewish race. thus, the word ‘anti-Semitism’ has become the deadliest tool in the hands of Zionist Jews. So much so that Jewish Professor Michael Neumann (Trent University, Ontario) has said: “Anti-Semitism”, properly and narrowly speaking, doesn’t mean hatred of Semites; that is to confuse etymology with definition. It means hatred of Jews. But, here, immediately, we come up against the venerable shell-game of Jewish identity: “Look! We are a religion!” No! a race! No! a cultural identity! Sorry a religion!” When we tire of this game, we get suckered into another: “Anti-Zionism is anti-semitism!” quickly, alternates with: “Don’t confuse Zionism with Judaism! How dare you, you anti-semite!”
