Even Imaginary Enemies Can Get Tired

For the last decade, America has been shuffling its entire military, including hundreds of thousands of private contractors, in and out of the Middle East on little more than a “snipe hunt.” Time for a reality check. Iraq never attacked the US. Reports say Al Qaeda may have fewer than 30 men in Afghanistan.
The Taliban has been asking for a cease fire for months. Turkey and Brazil negotiated a nuclear deal with Iran ending any possible threat, one we strangely, very strangely ignored. “Thermo-nuclear Israel’s” continual whining and manipulation is wearing thin. America’s economy, her Army and her suffering veterans demand an end to our Bush era phony war.
General Petraeus is now in Afghanistan. The endless games, paying the Taliban for security, protecting drug dealers and propping up a failed dictatorship can come to an end. OK, some news; the Taliban is sick of the war and ready to settle. The only thing keeping the war going is the Karzai brothers and their business partners. They aren’t worth it, they aren’t America’s allies, they are hated in Afghanistan and they need to be ‘retired’ to the south of France. I suspect they will be able to live quite well, no financial help needed.
Iran isn’t the problem, it never was. Since the 1960s, America has been running interference for Israel’s territorial ambitions. They are now occupying part of Egypt, Jordan and Syria and what had been 4 million Muslim and Christian residents of Palestine are now 1.5 million Gaza detainees and 2.5 million refugees. Iran had already agreed to a proposal from Turkey and Brazil that would have gotten rid of any nuclear material that may have been used for a weapon, a “workable” deal that seems to have been opposed only because it is preventing a war that Israel wants.
Of course, Israel wants to attack Iran while hundreds of thousand of American troops are standing by. America’s occupation of the Middle East has proven to be a destabilizing influence for sure, making war on a whim attractive, a war really being fought as in Afghanistan over money, always oil and gas, drugs or arms profiteering. Without America’s military power, her ability to project force in the Middle East, a capability put in place after the first Gulf War, history might be very different.
With 75% of Guantanamo detainees winning release based on illegal detention, even under almost whimsical “rules of war” now in place, we are getting a new look at a decade of deception and even treason. Information is even leaking out indicating that the first Gulf War may have been grossly misrepresented with Kuwait now beginning to no longer be a victim but rather part of a partnership gone bad. The first invasion may be just as bogus as the second were it not for a better deception plan and the competent plotting of the elder Bush compared to his bungling son.
What has really happened is that America has spun out of control with one “lobby” after another banding together into a phony political front that wants nothing but endless war. America’s most powerful lobby is the Israeli’s, myth makers and storytellers peddling biblical prophesy to the rednecks, terror scares to the American Jewish community that controls over 40% of the nation’s wealth and “Islamophobia” to the rest of the country over the controlled news and entertainment industry. Do we begin to mention how our corrupt electoral process has made any honest discussion of this problem political suicide for any genuinely “American” candidate?
Did we forget the oil lobby? Why do you think war with Iran is being pushed? The second the attack begins, the Straits of Hormuz are closed, oil prices skyrocket and oil company profits quadruple just like they did during the last wars. How do you think low oil demand, low oil prices and the doubled price of gasoline came about? Last week we learned that BP, the company famous for destroying the Gulf of Mexico, ordered the British government to free the “Lockerbie Bomber.” Consider that only a peek at the real power the oil companies have over our governments.
What used to be the “military/industrial complex” has gone well beyond that. With many financial institutions now deeply into ownership of intelligence and “black-ops” companies that make up much of America’s defense capabilities, we haven’t simply privatized war, we have privatized war policy.
Using the term “Middle East” is, in itself, a deception. The Mediterranean is an American lake. The Indian Ocean is being treated as a war “front.” Europe, from Britain to Germany to Italy and into Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, exists as little but a staging area for operations against what could be 30 terrorists. American bases dot each of these countries, continually expanded and new ones added to every day. Even the Black Sea is being “occupied,” with warships and ringed with bases.
Has the United States established exactly what its strategic interests are in the region? Oil is flowing freely as is heroin. Money is flowing into the region by the plane load and back out, into banks in Dubai, Tel Aviv and Switzerland. Is $500 billion a year being spent to defend Israel from invasion by, well, we aren’t sure? What is being spent to secure Israel, or empower Israeli recklessness, is nearly one third of America’s entire budget. Wouldn’t it simply be cheaper to give Israel the United States or do they own it already?

This is the type of article the Fox News crowd needs to read. However if they don’t see the phrase “Evil Muslims” in the first paragraph they may stop reading.

I’m really getting tired of hearing Obama and other politicians talk about the unbreakable bond with Israel. An unbreakable bond with Iran would be a better choice. It has not started a war in over two hundred years. Iranians claims its been over two thousand years.
The Iranian government does some cruel things to their citizens they view as troublemakers (a lot of governments do this) but at least the Iranian government actually tries to help the Palestinians living in Israel’s evil concentration camp in Gaza and the horrible Israeli controlled West Bank.
With our Middle East policy it’s difficult for me not to see Obama as Israel’s blackmailed puppet.

Kudos, Gordon, on another fine piece underscoring the absolute insanity of the current USA budget. We created a government supposedly for the people and by the people, but as you so deftly pointed out, most of the money being spent these days doesn’t go to the people or anything that relates to their needs or interests. It goes to support the vast egos and inflated pocket books of our extremely corrupt government officials among others.
There is no strategic interest relating to the people of the US that calls for us to be occupying the Middle East. Most people don’t actually realize that there is oil in the US and that the reason that OUR OIL COMPANIES PREFER TO GET OIL FROM THE MIDDLE EAST is that middle eastern oil is easier to refine and much cheaper therefore much more profitable for the oil companies.
The truth is that we need to end our dependence on oil and to permit the development of the many alternative energy technologies being suppressed by the far too powerful and too wealthy oil industry.
Let’s begin bringing America back to life by shutting down the many not necessary wars and diverting that money to reestablishing domestic industry.

Big banking, centralized and internationalized, is required absent an unlikely mutation of mankind’s genes. Highly civilized individuals as you, Gordon, as as right as can be. We and our kind will struggle to create sane societies. The money men, however, will triumph or blow us all up in their failure, I fear.

State Department warns employees about new website highlighting Top Secret facilities

The State Department is bracing for a potentially explosive new feature on the Washington Post website that would publish the names and locations of agencies and firms conducting Top Secret work on behalf of the U.S. government, according to the copy of an email obtained by The Cable.
The Diplomatic Security Bureau at State sent out a notice Thursday to all department employees warning them to protect classified information and reject inquiries from the press when the new web feature goes live.
“The Washington Post plans to publish a website listing all agencies and contractors believed to conduct Top Secret work on behalf of the U.S. Government,” the notice reads. “The website provides a graphic representation pinpointing the location of firms conducting Top Secret work, describing the type of work they perform, and identifying many facilities where such work is done.”
According to the notice, the Post used only open-source information to compile its site. However, if some of that open-source information turns out to have been classified, its publication by the Post doesn’t change that classification, the State Department emphasized.

Stopping the war in Afghanistan and Iraq can be accomplished in no time once the American people get riled up like they did in Viet Nam.I think we would still be in that situation hadn’t the US population rose as one and demanded ceasing tour participation.It took anarchy and any other form of protest but the politicians soon got the message.
Strike at the hearts of the people with the truth and they will soon react if nothing else out of guilt.
Isn’t going to happen. There was a draft back then with most of the demonstrators being from the upper middle class. At that time losses were near 50K, and after the TET offensive troops were being pulled out (late 68). Also, I’ve read somwehere that when a GI dies now in a zone the family gets close to 500K to not speak out. DHS will move in and end any start up of a demo today. Your point however is positive but it won’t work in 2010 in my view.

Fully agree on all count, trying to find a way to the Achilles Heel of this penetration or infestation as one prefer to call it. Keep finding more infuriating abuses. Looking at the Constitution I did find a discordant note on that “unbreakable bond” that allowed the Congress and President to treat Israel as if it where a state of the Union. I find no official treaties or legal document validating the claim other than something that evolved from a remark by Pres. Reagan exasperated reaction to Israel demand for an official position. “call it strategic partner” he said.
That allowed Congress and Presidents to use our money and influence and expose us and out troops to unnecessary risks. I did find many speeches and papers by the Founders clearly condemning any such association and commitment. AG Eric Holder has been very good lately in using existing laws to bring culprit to justice, such as Goldman Sack, Senators on the donation list of the lobbies, and so on. So I pointed this out to the AG yesterday. Assuming he reads the web site E-mail perhaps it will point out how angry we are and stop this ludicrous permission to Netanyahu to use our prestige and power as a back up for action this nation would never approve but will be responsible for. Yes Israel has a right to exist and the UN gave them the space and place, it does not have a right to appropriate by force whatever it wishes and we have no obligation to defend and support such actions.
But, the key is in the Congress, it is Congress that issues those notorious statement “Congress support Netanyahu 100%” even before the President releases his position or worse contradicting his position. That is abuse of Power and I so stated to Ms. Pelosi who leads those groups. If we want to act on it we have to target Congress, this President hands are tied. Checking now how much money those people who signed those statement get from the Lobby, That should cause them to loose their right to vote or promote the issue it is in the rules and it is called bribery described by the IRS as “something for something”

Americans have to learn to turn our backs on leaders like Saddam Hussein who massacred 180,000 Kurdish citizens of Iraq. Kwait did not need American support when Iraq invaded their oil fields. We need to ignore events like the Iraq-Iran War where millions were slaughtered on both sides. Leave well enough alone.
I believe that the Middle Eastern countries should set up a regional security and trading block as this would do a couple of things;
1) By increasing trade between the countries they would be more concerned about ensuring each others security because a war or disaster would negatively impact on their own trade.
2) If Israel was part of this security/trading block they would have to play nice with their neighbours or face many questions.
3) It would reduce the likelihood of the US and other countries being involved in wars there because the Middle Eastern countries would be sorting out their own terrorist problems and areas of conflict.
4) They could even set up their own International Criminal Court similar to the one in the Hague.
The ASEAN countries have this, except point number four and it works well.

There are unfortunately no published images that show a detail of the stars at the joints of the seats in the current House Chamber, on the internet or in print.
The current style of furniture was installed in 1949, and was manufactured by a New York furniture company called Knip, which is no longer in business. There are drawings for both five and six –pointed brass stars associated with the design of the furniture, but there is no documentation explaining or mentioning the use of the six-pointed version.
