Thank you for your honest words. As a trauma therapist, primarily for adults traumatized as children, some of the most harm has come from untruths. If things can be processed together there is much less damage than with secrets.
Great article

Maybe a better route would be to offer soldiers respect for their critical thinking – While U.S. military psychiatrists are prescribing increasing amounts of chill pills, America’s psychologists are teaching soldiers how to think more positively about their tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and wherever else they are next ordered to kill the bad guys and win the hearts and minds of everyone else.
Hmmm...I wonder if that "...intensive training in positive psychology and emotional resiliency" will be used on our sons and daughters to make it easier for them to pull the trigger on us, here at home?

Brainwashing? Boy, that's a twist. For dedcades now, "positive thinking" , finding the "silver lining in the cloud" has been part of the new-age, woochy goochy way of thinking.

For me, it worked. I've spent decades recovering from a non-penetrating headwound, the "modern" world calls an IED. Were it not for positive thinking, I would have blown my brains out decades ago, with small loss to the world except maybe my close family for a few weeks.

There is a positive corollary to positive thinking called "positive denial". The new-agers haven't figured that one out yet, or that one would be in your negative story also, I'm sure.

Mike, I'll be the first one in line to support Levine's right to think the way he does in this story, but I'll also be first to say he is another stupid ass who wants to destroy America -- who can't stand the shell he's walking in called his useless body that is brain-dead. Sheez.

Bravo positive thinking. Bravo positive denial. Boo to you negative nay-sayers.
