Good song, thank you to Barry Butler. Wars based on lies do seem to be a recurring theme with us.
All too true, but on the other side of the coin, people COULD make the effort to actually stop listening to the lies and research the truth of matters, especially before enlisting in the military in the first place. Verify what you are told before acting on it, if it doesn’t add up, don’t become complicit with the lie just because someone tells you it’s “patriotic”.
True patriotism is akin to being a parent, you don’t love your kids any less when you scold or spank them for being bad, by the same measure decrying the ever growing roster of evils our nation has visited upon countless millions around the world is both responsible and patriotic.
Kudos to the songwriter. May there be many more such awakened minstrels.
