VA’s suicide prevention outreach

VA’s suicide prevention outreach campaign begun in 2009 to reach troubled Veterans with messages of hope and help has been named a fifth-place finalist in the 2010 Direct Marketing Association International Awards Competition in the Business and Consumer Services category — the category for marketing non-product offerings such as services, government program, employee recruitment and educational programs.
The prestigious ECHO award recognized VA’s integrated use of municipal transit ads, radio and TV public service announcements, Internet and social media networking, direct mail, print and promotional products and special events to reach Veterans, their families and the public with an important message that saves lives every day. The outreach campaign was developed and managed by the VHA Office of Communications’ Veterans Health Communications Office. ECHO Awards Competition began in 1929, and now over 1,000 entries are submitted annually from all over the world. The Award honors the world’s best direct marketing and outreach campaigns, in terms of strategy, creativity and results. VA joins a list of past award winners that includes EPSON America, IBM, KPMG, Microsoft, United Parcel Service, and the US Postal Service. For more, go to http://dma-echo.org/welcome.jsp.
