It is the third day since the Israeli government demanded the release of “nuclear super-spy” Jonathan Pollard. Tel Aviv calls it a “spy swap” but it isn’t spies they are offering but rather the lives of Palestinian hostages. Israel has promised that, if the US releases Pollard, it will hold off its plan to begin additional “resettlement” operations against Palestinian villages on the West Bank.
In the past, Israel, criticized for “ethnic cleansing” operations against Palestinians paralleling Serbian operations in Bosnia 0r those of the apartheid regime in South Africa, has resorted to the use of “blitzkrieg” tactics with the predicted high levels of civilian casualties.
Officials of the Obama administration have, thus far, failed to give in to Israeli demands. In an almost identical scenario in 1979 in Iran, American diplomats were held hostage for 444 days, released only after coverts shipments of high-tech weaponry were promised by the Reagan administration, weapons still being used by Hizbollah fighters in Lebanon today.
President Obama has little reason to submit to Netanyahu’s demands as the Israeli leader has failed to keep to any agreements he has made in the past.

I read about this in The Guardian yesterday. What struck me as ironic was that an Israeli settler claimed that the United States was blackmailing Israel using the potential release of Pollard. However, it appears that this was an Israeli idea, so wouldn’t they be the ones using blackmail?
It takes some Chutzpah.
Makes me think about the recent F-35 deal with Israel, where the US is paying for 20+ F-35 fighters for Israel. The deal took longer to complete than anticipated because Israel had additional demands (such as a higher percentage of Israeli parts in the planes) even though they weren’t paying for them. Shameless

We’re constantly harangued by our government and media that Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East–just like America–, while these practices make it inimical to nearly every principal on which our democracy is based; in particular, the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees equal treatment under the law. Israel is nothing like the United States.

This is one reason I no longer vote for anyone who is Jewish. (And if Jews vote for someone because he’s Jewish, since I’m not Jewish, why shouldn’t I vote for someone because he’s not Jewish also? Call it “gentile loyalty” if you want.)

Here’s a counter offer worthy of consideration. Obama could say: “We will consider your request provided the following stipulations are met:
1. Full Israeli withdrawl to pre-1967 borders with absolute official written declaration submitted to the UN that Israel accepts these borders as fixed for all time.
2. Complete dismantling of all illegal settlements and the illegal wall and return of all stolen lands outside the aforementioned borders to their rightful parties, Palestinian and Syrian.
3. Full and official written disclosure of all nuclear stocks and technologies and signing of the NPT with appropriate submission to full IAEA inspections of the Dimona site and all other relevant facilities.
4. Cessation of all hostilities toward the Palestinian population and full and equal legal rights for Palestinian citizens of Israel including full right to property ownership.
5. Reparations for all crimes against humanity to the people of Gaza, West Bank and Golan Heights.
6. Full disclosure of all Mossad agents operating on US soil and their withdrawal following official certification and recording of their identities against potential future attempts to return to the US.
7. Cessation of acts of aggression toward all neighboring countries in the region.
8. The release of every Palestinian held in Israeli prisons and reparations paid to those against whom acts of torture are officially established by international tribunal.
9. The release of Mordecai Vanunu with official pardon for his rightful and just actions and cessation of any further actions against him wherever he may choose to reside.
10. Official acceptance of cessation of all future US economic and military support.
I think that would put an end to any further demands for Pollard’s release.

I think the pictures are appualing as is what Pollard did to our National Security. He should receive no better fate than a firing squad. To release him would in it self be an act of treason. Hopefully more Americans will get to view these photos and come to the realization that Isreal is the true source of all the terrorist attacks,the number one cause for destabilization in the Middle East, and the instigator of every unjust War in the Middle East sence their establishment. Take Isreal out of the equasion and all the other countries will no longer have the need to continue to arm themselves with neuculer weapons and anti-ship missels.

The real purpose of the Oath Keepers is to create a database of disgruntled retired/active duty military/law enforcement personnel so the they can be rounded up just prior to a declaration of martial law.

This is a great and important article. However in much of the comments I see too much focus on the “Jewish” issue when the real issue is a human one. Jews as individuals are not in charge of Israel as we American individuals are not in charge of the horrendous policies of our nation. When religions are evoked in a real battle of good vs evil.. then generalizations can get away from the real issue and real culprits that don’t represent a religion or a people, but their money-control-fear disgraceful actions of violence and corporate fascist controls. This is anti-American.. The government-policies of Israel and the US threaten the basics of life and freedom itself.
Looking into this area hurts my head, but some things have to be addressed.
