ISRAELI DR. STRANGELOVE IS USAF’S TOP CIVILIAN ADVISER

By Philip Giraldi One would expect the Air Force’s top civilian adviser to be someone who has spent some time in the US military or who has a very particular educational or skills set that brings something special to what is, after all, a very senior and sensitive position.  Not so.  Dr. Lani Kass, who [...]

Book Review Of Tales From a Tin Can: The USS Dale from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay

USS Dale

One of the first destroyers to escape from the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, was the USS Dale. It evaded machine gun fire, bombs and torpedoes without suffering one casualty. In Michael Keith Olson’s book Tales From a Tin Can: The USS Dale from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, stories of the Pearl Harbor attack and WW II are told as seen from the eyes of the USS Dale crew. Reading their personal accounts is like sitting next to them on their front porch on a summer evening. Just as simple and just as wonderful. But war is un-wonderful, and one wonders in listening to their stories how these men survived such horrors and still came out gentle and kind.

THE GOP: A ONE HUNDRED YEAR RECORD OF SWINDLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

History is clear. The conservative Republicans don’t mind spending money, they just don’t want to spend it on those who need it — us. Remember, they’re the party of Alexander Hamilton, one of this country’s founding fathers who believed that only those who owned property should even be allowed to vote. He also said:
“All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. The first are the rich and wellborn, the other the mass of the people…. The people are turbulent and changing; they seldom judge or determine right. Give therefore to the first class a distinct, permanent share in government. They will check the unsteadiness of the second, and as they cannot receive any advantage by a change, they therefore will ever maintain good government.” Debates of the Federalist Convention (May 14-September 17, 1787).

GORDON DUFF: BOMBS, TERRORISM AND MANURE

We have seen it all before. Last Christmas, the “Crotch Bomber” was another “PETN/Yemen” terror fiasco. Press stories blamed Al Qaeda and were ready to build this into a new 9/11 except that reliable witnesses, Detroit area attorneys, saw the terrorist, no passport, no visa, escorted onto the plane. Before that, newspapers said the bomber had a diplomatic passport, a visa and had “evaded” security.
