The Biggest Election Scandal Since Watergate

Fraud and Non-Profit Scams Exposed

Politics aside, I believe that both political parties benefit from these patriotic non-profit scams that are nothing more than FRONTS for political fund raisers – the worse kind of Stolen Valor imaginable.

Veterans Today has been writing about and helping expose fake patriotic non-profit SCAMS for years now.  In fact, Gordon Duff, staff writer,  just did an excellent article on non-profit scams titled “GOP Campaigns Financed  by  Money Stolen from Veteran Charity

In response to these growing incidents of Stolen Valor and exploitation of our Vets, troops and Military Families, Voters for Peace, through their allied organization Prosperity Agenda, has called upon the Department of Justice to begin a criminal investigation of non-profit SCAMS being used to take unlimited, anonymous donations in an attempt to influence the vote.

What Gordon Duff has touched on in Ohio is going on all over the United States. In fact, what has already been exposed by attorney generals in Ohio, Texas, and a few other states is only the tip of the Ice burg that includes not those so-called non-profit scams that have a political motivation to exploit our Vets, troops, and families but also those non-profit scams out for personal gain.

We at Veterans Today endorse Voters for Peace and the Prosperity Agenda’s call for a Justice Department investigation into all Veteran related non-profit scams to include the mainstream Veterans Service Organizations to determine the extend of fraud vs. inefficiency.

Focusing on the problem of non-profit scams will do more to enhance the reputation of those patriotic fund raisers who are honest and have nothing to hide. In the near decade since 9/11, and the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan the number of patriotic non-profit scams coming out of the woodwork can no longer be ignored.

The Military Industrial Comples Spends Massively on Elections using Non-Profit Scams

One reason why the U.S. sees ongoing wars, massive military budgets and record arms sales is because the military industrial complex spends massively on elections.  This year, corporate spending on elections is worse than ever thanks to the Citizens United decision and political operatives like Karl Rove who have created front groups [non-profit scams] to hide the source of campaign donations.  These front groups [non-profit scams]are designed to evade federal election laws and federal tax laws.  The violations of law are quite evident.

As a result of this, our allied organization Prosperity Agenda, took a major step on Thursday.  Voters for Peace via Prosperity Agenda asked the Department of Justice to begin a criminal investigation of [non-profit scams] being used to take unlimited, anonymous donations in an attempt to influence the vote.

Speaking as the Executive Director of a Non-Profit, Keven Zeese had this to say, “I am not a big fan of the government investigating non-profits, so it was unusual for me to take the step we took today. Not only did we ask that the organizations be investigated but also that those who created the groups, raised money for them and donated money to them be investigated as well.  If press reports are accurate, their actions seem to be a conspiracy to violate federal election laws as well as tax laws.”

You can read a copy of the letter to DOJ here.

Non-Profit Scams: Misusing their non-profit status for electioneering.

In the complaint Prosperity Agenda filed with the Federal Election Commission, Voters for Peace and Prosperity Agenda made the case that these [non-profit scams] are violating federal election laws because they have failed to register as political committees despite their record spending on political advertisements.  And they are violating the tax laws because they are misusing their non-profit status for electioneering – [thus non-profit scams]

Voters for Peace tends to agree with DNC Chair Tim Kaine that this may be the biggest election scandal since Watergate (Kevin Zeese, saying he agrees with either party, including the Democrats, is unusual).

Kevin heads one of many Pro-Peace groups that are not happy with either party for the billions wasted on Iraq and Afghanistan.

Front group non-profit scams

Concentrated corporate power is using front group non-profit scams to collect massive, anonymous election contributions and thereby evade federal election law which requires disclosure of donors.  Non-profit scams are a significant threat to American elections.

The only way to stop this is through the Department of Justice.  Voters for Peace and Prosperity Agenda are seeing a crime being committed right before our eyes yet the only party that can stop it is silent.  Our letter to DOJ gives the road map and jurisdiction for criminal action against these “threat to democracy” groups.

And, the other part of the story that has not gotten a lot of coverage is these anonymously funded advertisements are often false and misleading.

In fact, television stations are going so far as to pull advertisements being submitted by Karl Rove and the Chamber of Commerce off the air.

We need your help in keeping the pressure on to shut down non-profit scams.  Thank you for taking action. We are making a difference.

Sincerely,  Kevin Zeese, Executive Director, Voters for Peace.

  2. Thanks. Can I buy that poster of Rove somewhere?

    • Dan,

Since I wrote the article on behalf of both Voters for Peace and Prosperity Agenda, I got copyright permission to use their graphic of Karl Rove being taken to jail. I’m not sure if it is a poster as such, but I can ask Kevin Zeese if it is something that is available in Voters for Peace merchandise for sale. If not, yep if this were made into a poster it would most likely be in demand. Contact me at my email address indythinker@sbcglobal.net, and I can forward a request to Voters for Peace to consider making the Karl Rove photo into a poster.

  3. Hear, Hear!

Every single Veterans’ organization (501c3 or 501c4) should be thoroughly investigated…

Keep up the good work, VT.

    With best regards,

Excellent editorial and I certainly hope that every reader will take the few extra minutes to open the click here button to send that message to our elected officials and the Atty Gen.

I would suggest the each state’s Atty Gen’s office be added.I did send this to the Washington State Attorney General’s Office as well.

Thank you for publishing this informative article.

  5. …”called upon the Department of Justice to begin a criminal investigation”…

We need a criminal investigation of the Department of Justice FIRST!

    • Equalizer,

Though I may not agree or disagree with you that the DOJ needs investigating, could you please elaborate to the rest of our readers on why the DOJ needs investigating.

More so what, if anything, does that have to do with Non-profits, regardless their political views, scamming the American public (voters included even if very few Americans Vote) and conning Veterans, troops, and military families behind a smoke screen of false patriotism have to do with closer scrutiny of ALL non-profits that have a hidden political agenda having NOTHING to do with Vets, troops, or military families outside of exploiting, using, and abusing them?

  6. What makes you think that “Voters for Peace” does not have their own political agenda. Do they not ask for money in order to further their agenda or pay someone to write colums supporting their agenda. The sad fact is that until we have an election wherein every american votes none of the above for each position being run for, the government and special interest groups will continue to hood wink the general public as a whole. The present administration on many occasions stated that they were going to make the government process more transparent and keep the public informed as to what is really going on. However so far I do not see any transpariency what so ever, Capitol Hill continues to make deals on bills behind closed doors and has passed bills containing pork that does not have one thing to do with the bill other than paying off a contributer to someones election fund.

    • “What makes you think that “Voters for Peace” does not have their own political agenda.”

Well Dave that’s a given Voters for Peace does have their own political agenda, which most of us at Veterans Today tend to agree with, but like you, we may not agree with every aspect of their political agenda.

However, Voters for Peace is a political action committee NOT a Veteran’s Political Action Committee. Yes, Voters for Peace is a non-profit organization, but they are not a charity, cause, or Support Our Troops effort scamming the American public and American Veterans to line their own greedy pockets. You go to the Voters for Peace website [http://votersforpeace.us/about.html] and they are very upfront about what they do. That said, and being associated with Voters for Peace myself, I have no problem with closer scrutiny of all non=profits that crawled out of the woodwork since 911, including Voters for Peace just as long as said scrutiny IS NOT partisan politically motivated.
Yes, I also agree that if Karl Rove’s front organizations to support our troops should be scrutinized and investigated, given due cause I fell it only fair that Voters for Peace, Veterans for Peace, Veterans for Common Sense, or any other progressive leaning non-profit should also stand up to scrutiny.
This point on Voters for Peace isn’t even something we really disagree with as such, I’m simply answering your question. The rest of what you say from “The sad fact is” to “paying off a contributor to someones election fund.” Dave, I strongly agree with you!
Lastly, put in context Dave it is easier for front organizations like Donald Rumsfeld’s AmericaSupportsYou.mil and the United States Navy Veterans Association to scam the American public and Veterans using the smoke screen of patriotism to hook the mark. Heck, Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) articulated in our last magazine the MO of a Patriotic Scam.
Can you imagine how difficult it would be for Voters for Peace to scam the American public or Veterans and Military Families using the MO of patriotism to hook us? Nope, not very effective, because unlike the Vietnam War the Peace movement is not in vogue with the general American citizenry no more that most Americans can relate to the Wars or America’s Veterans.

    • “pay someone to write columns supporting their agenda.”

Voters for Peace may or may not pay someone to write columns supporting their agenda, but I assure you it is not anyone on the Veterans Today editorial board or writing staff, for we ALL are volunteers who get paid nothing from anyone to tell their story.

      Bobby Hanafin

  7. For additional information re Navy Veterans Assn., articles are archived in the St. Petersburg (FL) Times. Investigative reporters are John Testermann and Martin.

  8. Let the wave of investigations and class action lawsuits against these non-profit front organizations for PACs that claim to aide veterans & military families begin on a nationwide basis !

  9. I beleave that the United States Constitution says all federal elections should be free. ( IF THATS THE CASE THEN WHO EVER IS ELECTED TO FERERAL OFFICE BY ( drug money) and their is a big investegation and FRAUD is proven by drug money or rigged votes then all the elected to office is cancelled out. THE ELECTION IS VOID. America and its sleeping zombie populace better wake up/ THE REPUBLICANS AND COMPANY WILL SCREW AMERICAS CITIZENS AGAIN. ( 2 ) TWO STOLEN ELECTIONS AND ANOTHER ONE ON THE WAY. nothing can describle these MOBSTERS, GANSTERS,SWINDLERS, THIEFS, CROOKS, CON-ARTIST. we live in a country with a organized MAFIA in the Federal Government, and State Governments. WHAT A LAUGH. WE CALL OURSELVES A DEMOCRACY. NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE.

  10. Corruption 101: The Army Lawyers Have Their Own Chapter

While I was on active duty with the US Army, I was threatened by a US Army lawyer named Captain Matthew Fitzgerald to do something which was totally contrary to the US Army legal regulations (which I did not know at the time but he did). Fitzgerald’s motive was to tout this as his first accomplishment on his annual performance report of which I later got a copy. This threat resulted in my losing over $50,000 of my personal funds. After then doing my own investigation and trying to recoup my money which included going to federal court (thrown out due to Feres although I had a slam-dunk case with all evidence in my favor), I discovered the expression, “A fish rots from the head down” definitely applies to US Army lawyers.

When I asked the top lawyer (now Lieutenant General Dana Chipman) for assistance, the first thing they did was appoint Fitzgerald’s previous boss and a very obvious friend to “investigate.” Since there was no wrongdoing found as a result of this faux investigation but specifics were protected by the Privacy Act , I filed the same complaint with Fitzgerald’s Oregon State Bar which is NOT PROTECTED under privacy laws. Evidence showed that Fitzgerald lied no less than 10 times to his Oregon State Bar.

Given that US Army lawyers relentlessly prosecute soldiers on a regular basis for lying to investigation officers and making false statements, I packaged all of this and submitted it to General Chipman. He ignored it completely. In fact, Captain Fitzgerald is now Major Fitzgerald. Soldiers beware! The same rules do not apply to US Army lawyers.

  11. Look over there yonder Sancho, giants.
Master, those are not giants, they are jews fleeing Spain and going to the New World on the ships.
If you are afraid Sancho, stand aside and pray whilst I slay these giants, a service God will bless.
Watch out master these jews are bloodthirsty and insane.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the fight is in the courts.
