Congressman John Hall(19th District NY)
Reflections on the Midterm Election in relation to Veteran Issues
Veterans are you aware you lost a fighter for veterans’ health issues? No matter your party you should have gotten out there and spoken up for a US Congressman that served on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and did hear your needs! He is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq5ZwxrYVFU&feature=related speaking on Agent Orange and he also paid attention to Gulf War illness. He is not the only member that veterans did not form a wall to protect! Our health issues should not be a political party issue! But as an advocate that has spent hours on the hill in DC I can not believe that veterans do not have a list of the Representatives and Senators that have fought for our needs and stand with them and fight to keep them. Because I will tell you in all honesty we have very few elected representatives and senators that have even verbalized support for veterans’ health needs. So who is the replacements you voted for and will they stand up for veterans’ health needs?
Representative Ike Skelton Mo has a son a Marine that served. How many representatives have members of their own families that have served? Not many! So Representative Ike Skelton is another one that veterans did not defend!
I ask you in the future to really look at them and evaluate them before you abandon them for political reasons.

A little late on this election, run him in 2012. Politics in this country has taken the place of royalty, there are families that think that they are entitled to the government trough. Many of our senators and congress people are reared in DC and have nothing in common with the people in their states and districts. Please get behind term limits.
A bit puzzled here,….you showed an extensive list of newly elected individuals who many had veterans backgrounds but you make it sound like we gained zelch!
So ..Hall lost and you’re blaming the Veterans ? Should we take this article as some sort of slap in the face because no “Wall” was formed around him ?
Hall worked hard to lose this election – he deserved it.
Here’s an example –
Hall’s VA Rep knew little about the Military , I dealt with her. Hall and his supporters are trying to give him credit for something he wasn’t responsible for. His Press releases insinuate that he had something to do with many VA changes …he’s not the Hero , he’s a bystander.
Take the new PTSD “rule” …remember that this was made by the Veterans Administration – not Hall .
It is a new rule/policy put in place by the VA ..not an Act or Law passed by Congress.
John Hall cosponsored something close to it(with 95 other Representatives incl Michael Arcuri (NY-24) )the “COMBAT PTSD Act (H.R. 952)” which has not passed and will probably be dropped since the VA handled the issue themselves.. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-952
This new rule is flawed ..but Hall didn’t try fixing it.
BTW –Arcuri grabbed the limelight with his own press release about the new VA rule ..he mentioned the PTSD ACT he cosponsored but never mentioned John Hall being involved– http://www.newschannel34.com/content/developingnews/story/Arcuri-Applauds-New-PTSD-Claims-Decision/XXIF5fjKxEOiN6y9jPfi4A.cspx
That’s ok because Hall jumped on the Band Wagon and didn’t mention Arcuri or any of the other 95 cosponsors of the failed Bill either –

Then Chuck Schumer decided to come out with his own version – http://www.vawatchdog.org/09/nf09/nfmar09/nf032009-4.htm
I’d trust Doctor/Congresswoman Hayworth with my Health issues before I’d go to a Rock Musician who never served .
