Veterans Day: MFSO Total Cost of War Campaign

Yesterday, I posted that Veterans for Peace (VFP) has announced plans to launch their How is the War Economy Working for YOU? campaign to educate the public and U.S. electorate on how simple it is to connect the dots between billions wasted on the wars in Iraq/Af-Pac AND the U.S. economic meltdown, high unemployment except for those employed by the Defense Industry, Defense Department, and Soldier of Fortune Corporations right here in the good ole U.S. of A.

Also in time for Veterans Day, the 4000 plus members of Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) have decided to join VFP in this educational effort which will be taken across America instead of focusing on Washington, DC – the place everyone goes to protest everything.

However, as VFP calls their campaign – How is the War Economy Working for YOU? We are MFSO call our campaign The True Costs of War, regardless readers will note the similarities and standardization with the VFP effort.

Military Families Speak Out is launching a brand new campaign, The True Costs of War, to engage the public and put pressure on Obama and Congress to bring our troops and our taxes home to our communities.

This new campaign will use online tools, local events, media outreach and grassroots lobbying to highlight the human toll that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had on our loved ones and families.

We need your involvement to make it a success! Whether you take one action or get involved in a leadership role, we hope you will participate. Click here to sign up and get involved with the campaign.

Some components include:

And coming soon…

  • New postcards and an online Holiday card
  • Sign up for a lobbying training and Congressional visits in March, or to participate in local forums about the costs of war.
