NEVER FORGET: How 9/11 First Responders Were Betrayed by the GOP
Thursday night marked the final “Daily Show” of the year — and the decade — so it’s fitting that Jon Stewart spent its entirety discussing something both near to his heart and tied an event that happened nearly 10 years ago: the 9/11 First Responders Bill.

Stewart has probably spent more segments this year on the legislation known as the Zadroga bill than any other topic. The bill would provide $7 billion in benefits for those who first responded on 9/11 and are now experiencing subsequent health problems such as cancer and respiratory disease. While it has passed in the House, Senate Republicans are filibustering it so that it doesn’t pass in the Senate.
However, Congress did just agree on and pass the controversial tax cut bill that will give tax cuts to everyone including the very rich.
“Yes!” Stewart exclaimed. “That is astoundingly good news for firefighters who make over $200,000 a year.”
Nearly pulling his hair out at one point, Stewart expressed his annoyance at “the party that turned 9/11 into a catchphrase” now blocking legislation to help its heroes. Adding to his frustration, none of the three major networks have covered the story in over two months. Surprisingly, Stewart realized this was a actually a job for Fox News, “the nation’s leading source of 9/11-based outrage.”
But how does the conservative network feel about Republicans blocking the bill? As Stewart showed, Fox news hasn’t gotten one 9/11 first responder to talk about why they need the Zadroga Bill. in fact, only one network actually picked up the story in a meaningful way: Al Jazeera.
“Our networks were scooped with a sympathetic Zadroga Bill story by the same network Osama bin Laden sends his mix-tapes to!” Stewart said with frustration. “This is insane!”
In the following segment, which you can watch below, Stewart interviewed four real 9/11 first responders and heard their response to the fillibuster. Things get emotional, but it is a must-watch for anyone who cares to hear how Congress’s actions are affecting the heroes of 9/11.

I applaud Jon for this piece but he failed miserably when it came to exposing truth regarding the Israelis slaughtering peace activists on the aid flotilla in May. He will only go so far.
He’s a crypto-Zionist Jew and left gate-keeper, what do you really expect?
John the Liar Stewart covers his mainstream lying backside by devoting time to the first responders. IF he cared about truth or justice, he would bring any of the following people onto his “smart” show:
1) Prof. Neils Harritt who can discuss the proof of demolition with military-grade thermite
2) Geraldo Rivera and the http://www.buildingwhat.org people who persuaded him that he had failed to deliver the truth about 9/11
3) any of the patriots at http://www.patriotsquestion911.com
4) Prof. Alan Sabrosky, former Director of Studies at the Army War College, who has said that it’s 100% certain that the Israelis did 9/11.

So he is a liar since he doesn’t have the guests you want or take up your cause? Also, your truther views have nothing to do with the story, you are entitled to your view but, you should try to stay on topic.
Its funny how some people resort to name calling when someone doesnt do the stories they want, it was a great episode, sorry you apparently didnt enjoy it.

Don’t get me wrong, the Daily Show & Jon Stewart were great last night, but the implications of Stewart’s words 3,378 days ago, and what they show about todays sordid debate seem (to me at least) even more relevant.

Taylor Recycling’s site supervisor for the Fresh Kills sifting job, Eric Beck, testified in conjunction with a law suit the World Trade Center Families have brought against the city of New York, “I vividly remember our finding a man’s full chest and the full body of a man still dressed in a suit.” Beck also testified that Department of Sanitation workers were told to take the fines (the sifted, screened, and washed soil)-in effect the cremated remains of WTC victims-and use them to pave roads and fill in pot holes.”

Were they only Heroes when the Politicians used their actions
to gain votes? Who cares about J. Stewarts politics, it’s not about him!
He is justly furious by the lack of coverage and caring by the press.
I used to feel that the press was too far to the left, I now feel that maybe
R. Murdock has more power to influence the press than the public thinks.

Clearly all of the Jon Stewart Jew hating paranoids at the top here never watch the show so wouldnt know that he did discuss the aid flotilla attack, and to AJ Henry. Why didnt Jon have on the Popular mechanics guys and various other scientists that completely debunked all over your stupid conspiracy theories?
But back on topic. It is pathetic that the best cometary on this topic has been from a comedian and Al Jazeera. The republicans who held this up to get there political backers there tax cuts are the worst sort of polititians and hopefully will pay for it with there jobs, though I’m sure Fox, will blame the democrats for its failure to pass.
