Luftwaffe Over New York, a WW2 Secret

The Most Dangerous Photo-Recon Mission of World War II

On August 27th 1943, a German Luftwaffe long-range photo reconnaissance bomber, a Junkers Ju-390 took off from its base in Norway and flew out across the Atlantic Ocean. Among its four man crew was a brave and daring woman Anna Kreisling, the ‘White Wolf of the Luftwaffe’. A nickname she had acquired because of her frost blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Anna was one of the top pilots in Germany and even though she was only the co-pilot on this mission, her flying ability was crucial to its success.

The Ju-390 was twice the size of the B-29 Superfortress. It was powered by six 1,500 hp BMW radial engines and it had a range of 18,000 miles without refuelling.

This was to be the longest photo-recon mission flown by an enemy airplane in World War II. Nine hours later, the Junkers was over Canada and swinging south at an altitude of 22,000 feet. In the next few hours, it would photograph the heavy industrial plants in Michigan that were vital to the United States.


By noon on August 28th the gigantic six engined bomber was over New York City, where it finally was spotted by the US Army Air Corp. but by then it was too late. The Junkers disappeared into the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, fourteen hours later, Anna would bring the huge bomber in to land at a Luftwaffe base outside of Paris.

Thoughts of this mission came to mind as I sat across the table from Anna Kreisling at a recent Octoberfest in Los Angeles. She is still quite beautiful with her icy blonde hair tied-back in a pony-tail and her radiant blue eyes, which have seen events in human history only a few of us could ever imagine.

She had flown Ju-52 Trimotors into the streets of Stalingrad when it had been surrounded by the Red Army. Many times her plane had been riddled with bullets so badly that she landed with only one engine running while the other two were on fire.

In 1945 she was assigned to fly the jet fighters that Germany was producing.

One of these jet fighters was the Horten V9 flying wing. It was powered by two Jumo turbo-jet engines, which enabled it to fly at 600 mph. It was armed with two 30mm cannon and air to air missiles.

Anna never scored any victories in the Horten. While taxing in the snow an American Sherman tank crew captured her after she had turned off the engine and pulling off her flight helmet they thought she was a movie star!! For the next six months she poured coffee for the US Army and did not spend one night in a POW camp. Everyone thought she was part of Bob Hope’s USO show!!

P.S. An article in Air Progress magazine in the Nov/Dec issue 1965 also talked about the Junkers Ju-390 over-flying Michigan and New York. This was held top secret throughout World War II and the Cold War.

If you look in books they will say that only two Ju-390s were built, when in fact there were around 11 built. Also they were used in Odessa, Russia to fly to Japanese held fields in China. Very secret jet engines and technology was traded for raw materials. At Area 51 in Nevada the United States Air Force it is rumored has a Junkers Ju-390 it captured during Operation Paperclip toward the end of World War II.

Notes:

1) Anna was a test pilot so her mentioned with the Ho V9 (IX) prototypes is provisional as I believe that Pacific Flyer added the comments about it being armed and her never scoring any victories in it. It never became operational as the production Go-229.

2) What is written about her and flying jet fighters either refers to her test-flying them out of context or Hitlers order in March 1945 for 7-10 days allowing Hanna Reitsch to form a female jet fighter unit and them rescinding that order.

3) the Ju-390 production definitely is off officially as there were more than 2 of them in several different places during the war that the 2 could not cover. Historians lack the specific information on the other builds and especially usage from KG 200 and also why the SS forbid Baur to use the Ju-390 as Führerflugzeug. It is believed that the aircraft in Norway and Prague were reserved for Himmler and Kammler instead and that Kammler escaped with the Bell Device in one of those.

FLYING THE JUNKERS 52/3m at STALINGRAD

The following is an interview with Anna Kreisling – The White Wolf of the Luftwaffe- of what it was like to fly the Junkers Ju-52/3m trimotor in World War II.

James: How many Lady pilots flew with the Luftwaffe in World War II?

Anna: At the beginning of the war there were 50 pilots that flew transport aircraft, and there were many more who trained our young fledgling pilots, but both Hitler and Goering were against women flying fighters and bombers in combat. In Russia there were many women that flew fighters and bombers for Stalin.

James: I have flown in the Ford Trimotor, The Junkers Ju-52/3m has always been one of my favorite airplanes, what was it like to fly?

Anna: The Junkers was an amazing and beautiful aircraft to fly! At Stalingrad sometimes I made take-offs with only two engines running. If you had only one engine running you could maintain altitude. Visibility was wonderful, but the Junkers was a complex aircraft and you needed a great instructor if you wanted to learn quickly how to fly the trimotor.

James: You mentioned Stalingrad, was that the nightmare we read so much about in history books?

Anna: Stalingrad was a living hell, but what happened at Crete was far worse. For our airborne assault on Crete we had over 450 Junkers Ju-52 trimotors filled with paratroopers. We were told that we would not encounter ack ack flak, and taking the island would be easy. However, the island was filled with Australian, New Zealand, and British troops who fought like hell and we lost over half our planes and troops taking that island. I was not there; I was lucky because I was based at France at the time. We lost so many good pilots and men at Crete. We would have won the war against Russia if we had saved those planes and men.

James: Speaking of Russia, tell me about Stalingrad.

Anna: For many years I could not talk about it, it was too terrible. Göring who had promised Hitler that he could re-supply Stalingrad from the air had no idea what he was talking about. Von Paulus and the 6th Army should have been ordered to fight their way out. But Hitler agreed to airlift when Paulus agreed to stay, that victory was near.

An Examination of Hitler’s Decision to Airlift

The Junkers Ju-52/3m flew 95% of all the missions into Stalingrad. Other planes also flew in this massive airlift, but the Junkers was the workhorse. The nightmare was crashing into Stalingrad itself. If you were captured by the Russians, they brutally tortured you before they would kill you. At Stalingrad we had over 7,000 women working in the German Army that Hitler wanted flown out because what the Russians would do to them.

At Stalingrad we had over 350,000 men fighting the communist hordes, but it was not enough. We didn’t have enough fuel, fighters, trained mechanics, and even decent runways to work with. I usually flew out of Tatsinskaya with food and supplies loaded aboard. I also carried three gunners, two in the waist position and one on top. At Stalingrad Russian Yaks were everywhere and our losses were grim.

The Russian Yak was very similar to the British Spitfire, very manoeuvrable and fast. If they came out of the sun and caught you by surprise, it was all over. However, many Russian pilots made the mistake of approaching slowly from behind and that is when my young men would shoot them down.

Once I heard of a gunner who ran out of ammunition, and in desperation threw toilet paper at the Russian Yak, and the Russian was frightened away by it!! The Russians did not know what toilet paper was, so this pilot probably thought the gunner was throwing a bomb at him. This trick worked many times.

James: What were the casualties at Stalingrad?

Anna: We lost 800 Ju-52 trimotors at Stalingrad, so many great superb pilots we lost. Germany never recovered from these losses. Hitler should have resigned and the High Command surrendered to the Americans and British. I only survived through luck and determination not to be captured by the Russians. It is easy to be brave with two engines on fire when the alternative is to be captured by the Russians.

James: Is there anything you would like to say to the young people today?

Anna: Yes, flying is a great adventure, it is a joy that is boundless, but try to do your flying when people are not trying to shoot you down. Flying into Stalingrad was not fun, but we had to do it, we could not let so many young men die. The future will be better for everyone if we could be at peace and flying could be enjoyed for what it is, the most fun that you can have!! The memories of flying the Alps in a Junkers Ju-52/3m will be with me forever!!

      I know what James meant when he wrote about the Junkers JU-390 looking like twice the size of a B-29. It does! In 1946 at Wright Patterson Air Base we were walking around a Junkers JU-390 captured during Operation PaperClip. The size of this airplane plus the six engines, absolutely amazing. To give you a further example, if you walk around a B-36 with its six huge engines you would swear it was twice the size of a B-52 Jet Bomber, when it actually isn’t. But the size of the Junkers JU-390 really stuns you! By the way it is a fact that AREA 51 has a Junkers JU-390!! Many NASA people have confirmed this to me!

  5. Gorgeous Woman, very kind and gracious! She is the Grace Kelly, the Marilyn Monroe of the Third Reich! But more than that she always flew to win! I met Anna Kreisling in 1978 and I know her thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan.

  6. This claim did not crop up until ten years after the war, and has been extensively investigated and disproven. Impressive planes and a capable woman pilot, but either ego or senility are speaking here. Only one jet Ho9 version flew, and it crashed killing Jorg Ziller. The extra Ju390s are also fantasies, as well as most of these “what if” claims.

Did you know Bob that Patton’s Army tanks captured the Horten that is now in THE AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM in Washington D.C.!!   8. In Korea, our cameras were much better and the A/A was regular but not too accurate. It always helps to have pictures of what your opponent is doing.

  9. In 1987 I flew my Bonanza into the National Reno Air Races and it was a great show! While there a lady from Texas wearing pink shorts and a brown leather flight jacket opened up her DC-3 SO that the kids could sit in the cockpit and look around. I took many pictures of the DC-3 AND captured this incredible blonde also. At the time I just assumed she was a retired Las Vegas Show Girl named ANNA. It was years later until I finally learned who she really was, Anna Kreisling, The White Wolf. All I can say is that she is very gracious and kind, and is very stunning!

    • Well Ion Neam da Carpo if you weren’t so retarded youse would know the Krauts never bombed anything unless a Recon flight was done first! My Grandfather flew in the Italian Air Force in World War II and remembers when Anna Kreisling flew into Rome in 1943. She was on her way to North Africa on a special Operation to rescue a German General. If Anna flew over New York you can bet it was a Recon flight in preparation for a flight to drop the Atomic Bomb. Last year a noted military Historian said that Hitler had plans to Nuke New York at the end of 1945! The two pilots Hitler had chosen was Hannah Reitsch and Anna Kreisling!!

      Well Johnny Higgins check out the list Hannah Reitsch wrote in 1945 for an all female Jet fighter squadron. Anna Kreisling is Third on the list. Can you name all the Lady pilots who flew for KG-200? Also the next time you are in Las Vegas go to CEASARS PALACE and ask if Anna Kreisling is real. She comes in sometimes twice a month from AREA 51 and can be seen relaxing by the pool. Yes I’ve seen her and talked with her, a very gracious and kind lady.

  15. Sorry guys, but this story was debunked years and years ago. It first appeared in a U.S aviation magazine back in the 1950′s, and – if this version is anything to go by – it seems to grow more grandiose with each retelling. In the original, the Ju 290/390 turned back a few miles short of New York. And the addition of “The White Wolf of the Luftwaffe” is a new addition as well. It sounds like her persona is based on that of Hannah Reitsch, who WAS a female aviator and test pilot – and a dedicated Nazi. But Hannah had nothing to do with any flights across the Atlantic, let alone over Michigan and the eastern seaboard.

    While the Ju 290 and JU 390 did exist, neither had the range to reach NYC from continental Europe, let along the upper Midwest.

    It’s a nice yarn, and highly entertaining, but it’s a work of fiction. I call “BS” on this.

      George the first Luftwaffe flight over Canada, Michigan and New York was done by a German Luftwaffe photo recon JU-390 in August 1943. Strictly pictures and intelligence gathering. On Jan. 18, 1944 another JU-390 Flown by Flugakapitan Hans Pancherz and Co-pilot Anna Kreisling took off from Mont de Marsan in France to test the Air Defences of New York. They came within 12 miles of the city before turning back. This was the practise run for dropping the Atomic Bomb on New York. Within a few weeks Martin Bormann was flown to South Africa for a meeting with the Allies, in this agreement both sides agreed not to use the Atomic Bomb. Martin Bormann flew back to Germany with many written documents.

  16. The story about the JU-390 doing a recon flight to New York is bull. The first flight of the PROTOTYPE JU-390 was October 20, 1943. Furthermore, the maximum range of the aircraft is listed as 6,030 miles. That’s under IDEAL conditions. No way it could go from France or Germany to New York and back.

      Not true, we know today that three Junkers JU-390′s were built in January 1943 and one was a special long range recon model. The Fourth Junkers JU-390 WAS BUILT AND FLOWN IN August 1943. The Nazi’s did this to fool Stalin and the United States. The JU-390 program and the Atomic Bomb was so important to Hitler that Himmler was put in charge of this deception. Anna Kreisling was seen boarding this Junkers JU-390 in Norway by five SS officers and Albert Speer, who designed a Stainless Steel bra for her gorgeous 38D breasts so they would survive the wind blast if she had to bail out over New York City!! This is the same Stainless Steel bra that Howard Hughes paid $300,000 dollars for to use for the beautiful JANE RUSSELL who had gorgeous 38D breasts also. This is all true, you can’t make this up!!!

  17. Being a baby boomer, I was not there, but this story smacks of “Terry and the Pirates.” The 18,000 mile range quoted seems excessive. By flying with the trade winds, optimizing air speed (250 mph?), and carrying fuel instead of bombs, this marvelous plane should have been able to circle the world in one fell swoop! Technology sure has gone downhill since the good old days.

  19. The NEW YORK TIMES first took pictures of Anna Kreisling at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, she is seen standing to the left of Adolf Hitler in the film Olympia. Next we have pictures of her flying Heinrich Himmler around in a Junkers JU-52 Trimotor in 1937 and 1938. Leni Reifenstahl described Anna as gorgeous beyond beleif, she stood five feet eight inches tall, tan skin, frost blonde hair, crystal ice blue eyes, and a gifted athelete. Anna loved nude sunbathing and swimming with Eva Braun.
    In 1946 she was brought to the United States after a picture of her appeared in STARS AND STRIPES pouring coffee for Gen. Patton. Stalin ordered the KGB to capture her but the OSS flew her out of Germany in time.
    In 1955 she is photographed with Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe, Anna and Marilyn are referred to as the two hottest blondes on the planet, and both enjoyed long conversations with Einstein about Theoretical Physics.
    The last picture of Anna was published by Pacific Flyer Magazine in Austrailia in the April 2001 issue about the Junkers JU-390. Anna Kreisling The White Wolf of the Luftwaffe was born on January 10,1920 in Berlin. In 1944 she was presented the IRON CROSS with Diamonds by Hermann Goering. She flew the last two years of World War II with the top secret KG-200 squadron.

      • Our Great and Glorious Leader Joseph Stalin allowed women to fly fighters and Bombers in World War II. On November 10th 1942, thirty-six Yaks were on patrol when they saw five JU-52 German Trimotors trying to fly into Stalingrad. Down they dove and tore apart the aircraft with their cannon and machineguns. Four Junkers JU-52′s were shot down, but the fifth one with one engine on fire kept flying! Then Lilya Litvyak THE WHITE ROSE OF STALINGRAD led the attack on this Junkers and riddled the plane and the other engine caught fire, but a Yak collided with the Junkers and tore off the landing gear and still the Junkers flew on! There at the German field it crash landed in the snow and skidded to a stop! Lilya LITVYAK flew by in her Yak and was stunned that the pilot was a blond haired woman, she just stood there looking up at her defiantly! Back at her base she reported that it had to have been Anna Kreisling, The White Wolf!!! Stalin was pleased when he read this report!

        • My father Hans Steiner would not have survived Stalingrad unless he had been flown out. On December 14th freezing temperatures and my father badly wounded was laying on a stretcher weeping. It was the feeling of no hope, of never seeing your family or Germany again. The Junkers JU-52 was full and there was no room for my father. He lay there accepting his fate that he was going to die and never see his homeland again. Then he remembers being slapped and as he gazed up he saw the face of an Angel. Her crystal ice blue eyes stared deeply at him and then she held his face and told him,”Your going home, Don’t worry,Your going home!”
          Ten more badly wounded men were brought on the plane under her orders, then she boarded and managed to get all three engines running. Snow was now falling and visibility was gone. She swung the Junkers onto the runway and took off. Two and a half hours later after landing my father saw her for the last time smoking a cigarette and smiling down at him. She still looked like an Angel who had come down from heaven, he said her name was Anna Kreisling.

The slightest wind would turn me over. In Buchenwald they sent 10,000 to their deaths every day. I was always in the last hundred near the gate. They stopped. Why?”

    Compare this with Encyclopaedia Britannica (1993), under ‘Buchenwald’:

    “In World War II it held about 20,000 prisoners.. Although there were no gas chambers, hundreds perished monthly through disease, malnutrition, exhaustion, beatings and executions.”

    If we look at just two of the seemingly endless number of Jewish survivors, both Olga Lengyel in her book “Five Chimneys” and Kitty Hart in “Return to Auschwitz” agree that the crematoria handled roughly17,000 corpses per twenty-four hour shift and the ‘death pits’ consumed another 8,000 cadavers a day. This implies almost 100,000 corpses per four working days, or a million in 40 days, or six million in eight months. This absolutely strains all credibility to way beyond breaking point.

    I’ve checked out the six volumes of Churchill’s Second World War – not a single mention of Nazi ‘gas chambers,’ a ‘genocide’ of the Jews, or of ‘six million’ Jewish victims of the war.

    Eisenhower’s Crusade in Europe is a book of 559 pages; Churchill’s Second World War totals 4,448 pages; and De Gaulle’s three-volume Mémoires de guerre is 2,054 pages.

    In this mass of writing, which altogether totals 7,061 pages (not including the introductory parts), published from 1948 to 1959, one will find no mention either of Nazi ‘gas chambers,’ a ‘genocide’ of the Jews, or of ‘six million’ Jewish victims of the war.

    · Hugh Wilson, the American Ambassador in Berlin until 1938, the year before the war broke out, found anti-Semitism in Germany ‘understandable’. This was because before the advent of the Nazis, “the stage, the press, medicine and law [were] crowded with Jews…among the few with money to splurge, a high proportion [were] Jews…the leaders of the Bolshevist movement in Russia, a movement desperately feared in Germany, were Jews. One could feel the spreading resentment and hatred.” (Hugh Wilson: Diplomat between the Wars, Longmans 1941, quoted in Leonard Mosley, Lindbergh, Hodder 1976).

  26. Was reading up on this plane a couple of years ago. I find that most of the published stories were not really true. As far as this posting goes, I don’t believe it can be proved that it came to New York or further points North. I just left the Google site and found more on what I had seen before. There are a lot of things that can’t be proved. This story has to leave me in doubt about a lot of things posted. You’ll appreciate the toughness of a man named Milch (said to be Jewish)and the humor of Goering as he abused his luftwaffe chief upon learning the British Mosquito fighter/bomber was made from wood, like a piano is made of wood.

    • There’s more about the Ju-390 (and MUCH else besides) in Nick Cook’s “The Hunt for Zero Point.” Cook is a tech writer for Jane’s Defense and he’s highly dependable.

      The New York scouting mission I first heard about from researcher/writer Joseph Farrell but I’m not sure if it was in “The Reich of the Black Sun” or “The SS Brotherhood of the Bell”, both about German deep-secret projects during WWII and full of a lot of surprises.

      Farrell’s research led him to the conclusion that the Germans were certainly planning to bomb NYC, probably with a nuke, and that the Nazi nuclear program was much further along than is officially acknowledged. Because Farrell allows himself lots of lattitude with material that is far from mainstream even now, the conclusions are still up to the reader.

      Farrell is convincing, however. I had never before heard of the u-boat full of enriched uranium captured while heading for Japan before Farrell presented proof of it. He’s like that. His sleuthing talents are strong.

      The Third Reich was quite fragmented before it was defeated. Nick Cook notes that the giant aircraft program (of which Ju-390 was a part) came under Hans Kammler’s special projects group. As the chief of special ops, Kammler seems to have denied use of the Ju-390 to Himmler no less!

      Cook allows the reader to speculate, but Kammler and his ENTIRE STAFF went missing after the war, so not much guessing is needed to assume that the giant aircraft were used to get out of Dodge and set up shop elsewhere, for instance Argentina. Mskes perfect sense. That Kammler and Himmler hated each other is just additional support for what must have been an immense getaway.

      But there’s riddles wrapped in enigmas aplenty whenever the end of WWII comes up. We will probably never know what really happened much less what might have happened.

      • I think you have your finger on it right there, by the last years of the war nearly everyone with something to sell was “making contingency plans for escape”.

        With the Allies insisting on Unconditional Surrender, the brightest Germans in special ops would have seen a great chance to make a separate peace and bug out on the collapsing German nation. Selling projects that were years ahead of the rest of the world gave them a classic pass free out, and it’s clear the Americans and British, for two, were buying anything loose no matter what it was. Special dyes and the ancestors of modern transistors and even lasers were all being worked on in Nazi skunk works. It was time to sell out and guys like Von Braun made a killing.

        I think Germany had a primitive atomic device and sold it. It was a sale that clearly caused lots of wrangling among three of the allies. Even after the two nukes were dropped on Japan, Truman couldn’t make up his mind whether it was an all-American bomb or an allied project involving Britain, Canada and the US. His public statements say both at different times, showing the details weren’t ironed out yet.

        Speculation, of course. Either way I think lots of ex-Nazis became billionaires after the war, and their fortunes are still causing lots of pain. Not that there wouldn’t have been plenty anyway.

            What got me was, after they were clear they did NOTHING for their fellow citizens back in Europe. Like they got the loot and the poor slobs back home got nothing.

            They also worked with the people who were later known as Israelis. The first regiments of the Israeli “Defense” Forces were trained by the Waffen SS. They made a medal with a six-point-star on one side and a swastika on the other just to commemorate things like this because there’s lots more like it.

            None of this was ever secret, you can look it up.

    • The first American A bomb that exploded outside of the testing grounds went off in Port of Chicago in San Francisco bay.

      It was aboard a transport ship when an ammunition ship exploded next to it detonating the a bomb.

      The a bomb was in a 75mm gun barrel.

      Also little known is that Japan had an a bomb also.

Together they have to travel to Egypt to uncover the Tomb of Cobra God Phantelkhan!

A bit of B.S. in the account… and the Ju 390 was certainly not “twice the size of the B-29″: the B-29 was 99 ft long (Ju 390 112 1/6), the B-29 wingspan was 141 1/4 feet (Ju 390 165 1/12); and the max T/O weight for a B-29 was just over 133,000 pounds (Ju 390 estimated at 166,000). More signifiacnt, a Ju 390 “bomber” flying to New York could carry a couple of hundred pounds of bombs–not a serious bombing threat. Norman

  32. I had several experiences related to the history of the German WWII efforts to develop and deliver a nuclear weapon to USA. At Fort Benning, circa 1961-62, a friend, Lt Chuck Toftoy, spoke about his dad, MG Toftoy and his mission to get Von Braun et al, early 1945, out of the Nazi rocket R&D site before the USSR Army got there, which was a major technology coup. Part of the knowledge base was the transport options, both fixed wing aircraft and V-3 rocket, to be truly intercontinental. That rocket was a precursor to the US Army/NASA’s stable of rockets.

    In 1962, at an atomic demolition munition (ADM) course at the engineer school at Ft Belvoir, one of the instructors related how the German scientists made a fundamental error in calculating how to attain crtical mass of weapons grade fuel- the Manhattan project developed the ability to create the CM by compressing it using shaped charges on the exterior of the weapon, shaped as a bowling ball, to force the radioactive fuel into a very dense, critical mass at the center. The Germans seemed to have never considered that option- thus the total weight of its nuke was much heavier so either delivery, fixed wing or rocket, was problematic. So was finding a test site; it was clear a trial with a prototype weapon could/would endanger much of Germany if it went bad and in any event it would have been a very “dirty” bomb because so much of the fissionable material would not be consumed in the explosion itself. Those problems were never solved with a correct analytical path,thus a max effort by the Nazis didn’t materialize.

  33. Normnan, your are right on, but yu didn’t go far enough. I’m in the middle of reading the book “Luftwaffe over America”, written in 2004 by Manfried Griehl. According to his historical research, the first Ju-390 prototype (model V-1) was not completed and put into test at Prague until early 1944. Mr. Griehl states that there may have been a second prototype – Ju-390 V-23 – but its existence has never been confirmed. The Ju-390 V-1 was flown to Dessau in early 1945 where the engines were removed and the airframe abandeoned (see photo on p. 109 of the book) and later destroyed.

    Ergo, the Ju-390 trans-Atlantic flight of August 1943 is pure myth. In further proof, the photo displayed at the head of the story on veteranstoday.com is a fabrication. The sun angle on the Ju-390 aircraft is from between “2 and 3 o’clock” relative to the aircraft heading, while the shadow of the Statue of Liberty shows a sun angle from approximately “10:30″ relative to the aircraft heading.

    Norman, Stalin knew about the Manhattan Project in 1943. In fact he had three spies in New Mexico giving him weekly reports. Adolf Hitler also knew the same facts, what worried Stalin was that Germany would get the bomb first. Heinrich Himmler was put in charge of Germany’s Atomic Bomb project. Guess who was Heinrich Himmlers most trusted SS Officer after the death of SS Reinhardt Heydrich??? Thats right it was SS Flugakapitan Anna Kreisling. You could not take a picture of her unless it was approved by Heinrich Himmler. During the last two years of the war Anna Kreisling was deeply involved in the Nazi Nuclear Bomb project. All her flights in KG-200 were approved by Heinrich Himmler. Norman the JU-390 was one of three projects that was designed to use the Atomic Bomb on New York.

  35. Frank, Luftwaffe over America by Manfred Griehl is a great book, I have it in my collection! However Manfred Griehl will tell you that new information has confirmed the flight of ANNA KREILSING over New York is real and did happen. For Example, Albert Speer wrote about a Junkers Ju-390 flying to Tokyo via the Polar Route, he also writes about that JU-390 STAYING THERE, and Anna Kreisling flying back as a passenger on a different one. We know today that at least seven JU-390′S were built, and that the first flight of a JU-390 was in January 1943. If you want to see Anna Kreisling’s picture check out the April 2001 issue of Pacific Flyer. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday at CEASARS IN LAS VEGAS!!!
