Homeless Advocate vowing life of poverty, food stamps, had $111,000 income.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL –Minister and self-proclaimed leader for the Homeless of St. Petersburg, the Rev. Bruce Wright publicly vows a life of poverty and food stamps. To boot, while the Homeless eat at “soup kitchens” Rev. Wright declares as deductions that he spends over $800 a month in food, and then loses his driver’s license for non-payment of child support. I worked in the welfare department and I don’t know about you, but the income limit for two people to receive food stamps was a gross income limit of $996. We looked at the gross limit before we even started looking at bills. Now maybe it’s more in Pennsylvania than Florida, but there’s no way they were eligible for food stamps.
BA..SORRY BUT YOU ARE LYING THE MAX IN FLA IS 1.306. i HAVE BEEN A SW FOR 25 YRS and $996 PASSED A LONG TIME AGO. READ A BOOK AND GET a job

Minnesota Republicans say: Poor people with money should be outlaws

St. Paul, MN – Minnesota Republicans are pushing legislation that would make it a crime for people on public assistance to have more $20 in cash in their pockets any given month. This represents a change from their initial proposal, which banned them from having any money at all.
On March 15, Angel Buechner of the Welfare Rights Committee testified in front of the House Health and Human Services Reform Committee on House File 171. Buechner told committee members, “We would like to address the provision that makes it illegal for MFIP [one of Minnesota’s welfare programs] families to withdraw cash from the cash portion of the MFIP grant – and in fact, appears to make it illegal for MFIP families to have any type of money at all in their pockets. How do you expect people to take care of business like paying bills such as lights, gas, water, trash and phone?”

I am not suprised and am glad the truth came out. This makes those of us who are truly trying to make a difference, look bad. Kudos to you Terry for this article.
Quoted from the IRS website…A minister who receives a housing allowance may
exclude the allowance from gross income to the extent it
is used to pay expenses in providing a home. Generally,
those expenses include rent, mortgage payments, utilities,
repairs, and other expenses directly relating to providing
a home.
