Is the GOP Really America’s Domestic Enemy?
.
Many of my conservative friends are advising me that by implying that the GOP is a domestic enemy of America that I’m being unnecessarily divisive, and I’m doing myself a disservice. One particularly good friend said, “Contrary to what you and Gordon love to espouse, the GOP is not the “devil incarnate.” It may be politically convenient and divisive for you to call it that, but it is just not true.” Sorry Tom, but I beg to disagree..
The fact is, I’m neither implying, espousing, nor equivocating. I’m stating a demonstrable fact. The GOP leadership is un-American, period. And they specialize in holding the American people hostage. Their total disregard for America is made quite evident by the fact that every time the GOP wants to push one of their unpopular initiatives they begin to strangle a segment of the American people for leverage. Two of the most recent examples of that are the way they held unemployed Americans and first responders hostage in order to push through the extension of the Bush tax cuts to benefit the wealthiest 2% of the population. Thereafter, they threatened to shut down the entire government in an attempt to push through initiatives that would have brought severe hardships upon the poor and middle class.
.
Both the methods and propaganda of the GOP are not only un-American, but right out of the Nazi playbook. The GOP leadership has calculated that the more miserable they can keep the American people, the better chance they have of regaining power. That, in turn, would allow them to get on with the business of totally enslaving the American people. So they routinely employ tactics from right out of Joseph Gobbels’ handbook on the effective use of propaganda to keep us so angry and divided that we’re blind to their concerted effort to keep America ignorant, distracted, and miserable.
.
The issue doesn’t even require debate, because the facts are indisputable. But unfortunately, in politics, just like religion, people tend to close their eyes to any and all facts, no matter how revealing, that tends to contradict what they want to believe. The same is true in both parties and across the political spectrum. Many of President Obama’s supporters also suffer from this ailment. They close their eyes to Obama’s tendency to engage in collusive “compromises” just like Republicans are closing their eyes to the horrific Republican conspiracy against America – and in the case of both, that’s in spite of the fact it’s a direct assault on the quality of life of their own family and children.
.
But the GOP is enabled by being allowed to hide in plain sight behind Godwin’s Law, which asserts that whenever you bring up Hitler or the Nazis as a metaphor to define others you automatically render your argument meaningless. But Godwin’s Law doesn’t take into account that there are times when the comparison is not only appropriate, but unavoidable – and this is one such time. So I seriously reassert, without hyperbole and in all candor, that the modus operandi and goals of the current GOP leadership come right out of the Nazi tradition – in fact, so much so that it inspires a sense of deja-vu.
.
Adolph Hitler pointed out the following in Mein Kampf :
.
“The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward . . . Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favorable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favorable to its own side.”
.
This is exactly the tactic employed by the GOP. They assume that the people are stupid so they all constantly repeat the exact same script, and conspicuously avoid any vestige of truth that is unfavorable to them. That’s why on any given news cycle they all trot out the same mantras: “Tax and spend Democrats,” “Government controlled healthcare,” “Death panels,” “Obamacare,” “Job-killing policies,” etc.
.
Joseph Gobbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda, also felt that it was essential to gain control over the media, which the GOP embarked upon during the Reagan administration when they abolished the Fairness Doctrine. The doctrine allowed for equal time for opposing points of view, and the GOP couldn’t have that. Then afer the doctrine was abolished, conservative interests began to buy and take control of television and radio networks across the country. The rest is history. If the Fairness Doctrine hadn’t been abolished, every time Limbaugh, Beck, or Fox News made a ridiculous statement on public policy, the network would have had to give equal time to any qualified person or group espousing the opposing point of view..
Gobbels also advocated limiting the people’s access to information. It is this prescription that accounts for the GOP’s thirty-year assault on our educational system and their current attempts to revise history. It also accounts for their assault on the National Public Broadcasting Network. So now it isn’t enough to simply lie to the people, now they’re also trying to prevent them from hearing the truth. Now, as a direct result of this thirty-year assault truth, many young Americans don’t realize that it’s un-American for the government to torture prisoners, or for Gov. Rick Snyder to fire duly elected local officials.
.
Gobbels also discussed the tactic of accusing your opponent of the assault on freedom that you’re actually committing. This tactic has also been clearly demonstrated by the GOP. Every since Obama has been in office, the GOP has been accusing him of promoting big government and trying to take government control of our lives. But now it turns out that all over the country Republican governors are not only trying to install big government, but initiate totalitarian policies that completely strip the American people of all of their rights of self-determination.
.
That brings us to the Nazi device of creating a crisis as a pretext for initiating unpopular policies. The GOP contends that their assault on the poor and middle class is absolutely necessary to address the nation’s deficit. But what they don’t tell us is that they created the deficit through Bush’s reckless spending in the first place. John Dyer of MSN Money points out that Bush alone cost the nation $11.5 trillion, and I suggest that it wasn’t purely due to incompetence.
.
The GOP has been on a single-minded mission for more than 70 years to reverse New Deal initiatives that President Roosevelt put into place to rescue the American people during the Great Depression. Thus, over the years the GOP’s determination to abolish social security, the minium wage, and the Fair Labor Standards Act has been even more virulent than their current determination to abolish President Obama’s healthcare reform. But these programs have been so popular among the American people that they haven’t been able to go after them legislatively, so the GOP has purposely spent us into a ditch in order to manufacture a crisis as a pretext to initiate policies that they wanted to pursue in the first place.
.
That explains a lot. It perfectly explains why the nation is now in such dire straits even though President Clinton left Bush a $150 billion surplus. It also explains why Bush couldn’t put forth a rational explanation for why he was so anxious to invade Iraq that he sacrificed the lives of American troops by sending them to war without the necessary gear to protect their lives. In addition, that’s also why he made the supremely irrational decision to pursue two wars and a huge tax cut simultaneously and put it all on a credit card, costing the nation $5 trillion. Bush had to take out a loan to cover just the loss of revenue created by his tax cut for the rich, and the interest alone on that loan cost the nation $265 billion..
But that’s not all it explains. When we take into account the fact that the GOP has been purposely spending America into a ditch as a pretext to attack the poor and middle class safety net, it also explains why in spite of the fact that the GOP bills itself as the party of fiscal responsibility, they not only applauded, but lionized Ronald Reagan after he came close to tripling the national debt. It also explains why even though the poor and middle class had nothing to do with creating this economic disaster – including the estimated $6 trillion cost of the Wall Street bailout – the burden of resolving the crisis is being placed squarely in the lap of those least able to pay.
.
But the most unconscionable example of the GOP’s attack on the middle class is with social security. They claim that social security is in a crisis situation so the poor and middle class have got to prepare themselves to take a hit. But the only reason social security is in crisis is because the government has borrowed $2.5 trillion from the program and they don’t want to pay it back. So the GOP solution to the problem is to make us bite the bullet to absorb the cost of money that they borrowed from us.
.
Now, in spite of the Republican claim to be against big government, Republican governor, Rick Snyder of Michigan, has signed a bill into law that allows him to declare a state of budgetary marshal law which allows him to take over the cities and municipalities in the state of Michigan and appoint “Emergency Managers” with the authority to fire duly elected officials, rescind municipal contracts and labor agreements, and ignore any and all rules of public accountability. So in essence – no, in fact – he’s installed a dictatorship in the state of Michigan, and other Republican governors across the country are following suit.
.
In addition, the GOP judiciary, who was supposed to be so big on a “strict constructionist” interpretation of the constitution, not only ruled that international corporations were equal to American citizens in addressing our political system, but in the 2000 election disenfranchised American voters to appoint the president of their choice. Then to add insult to injury, they ruled that the judicial jujitsu that they engaged in to circumvent the will of the people could not be used as a precedent in future cases.
.
So the GOP has but one step left. If they can gain control of our national government and establish the same rules that now exist in Michigan, America’s beautiful experiment in democracy is over.
.
So yes, Tom, the GOP is indeed the Devil incarnate – and worse.

They are cancer. So why do Dems. even cooperate with them? Because it’s all a farce, just for show! Time to draw the curtain and take them backstage for an ass whooping.
There are many ways to look at the GOP. The GOP in power, at the top of the chain, is not the GOP on Main Street in values in most cases. Then there is the conservative base which is a blend of many things from the Dixiecrats to religious groups. But the very top of the power chain is all about money. How the other segments link into that or how they feel they will fare in a nation controlled by wealthy influences one can come up with many conclusions. The build of up Chinese wealth comes from all manufacturing aspects of the western world in trade for cheaper labor and less restrictions of various purpose. But on the American side, the Republican objective of reduced taxes for the wealthy, no tariffs to impede huge deficits from varios nationa, certainly help the wealthy industrial Republican more so than the average Joe the plumber Republican on Main Street. It doesn’t help the racist sect of the conservative connection as the upper level of power is willing to deal with Jews, Arabs, Asians and blacks on equal terms for a gainful profit. It’s the assets and the profits that count, not who sold it or where it came from. The most visible threat to the society is that the majority of the Main Street Republicans believe the upper level Republicans agenda is something different from what it really it is. But that is highly maksed with all the pundits who never really take time to claim the good the Republican politicians have done while in office. Truth being, there is not much to say. But just so people do not catch on that their best interest are not being served, the pundits speak in three hour segments or longer about how bad the Democrats are doing or what Democrats are doing to take away freedom, prosperity, under cutting defense etc. All these things are what the upper level of the Republican leadership is helping to do by allowing more wealthy Americans to invest abroad with lower tax rates given from the US. The return sales in the US helps to bring more money into these developing nations and they in turn increase their living standards along with their military expenditures. The additional money also helps the developing nations to advance their own research, technology and invest in other nations such as the US. The Main Street Republican is kept confused with false socialism labels, threats of terrorism on a high level and the destruction of American values all the while those who are benefitting from their support are doing nothing to strengthen the American position in the world or make the US more economically prosperous. Behind all the bally hoo of taxes creating jobs, has Main Street Republicans really looked into the fact that when President Bush took office in 2001 the unemployment rate was 4.2 %. That was with the higher Clinton era taxes. The best the exonomy did in unemployment after the 2003 tax cuts was 4.3% The massive tax cuts never created the same level of employment as the higher Clinton era tax rates did. But since 2003, the wealthy has been raking in savings from not paying the government what it used to while government at every level is now strapped for cash. The school teachers and the police officers that teach the kids and protect the welfare of Main Street Republicans are in jeapordy of losing their jobs due to shortage of government funding caused by at least in part lower taxes and lost jobs over seas. The Main Street Republican needs to ask themselves are the upper level Republicans really about sustaining the little wealth they have accumulated and progressing the futures of their off spring. With more jobs and business investments going overseas and tax dollars being rapidly drained in war fare on foreign lands needlessly, it really doesn’t appear that way for the long run.
Kelli, Darryl,
You are both right on the money.
Silly Dreck…there is only one Party…Theirs.
Is it my imagination or is the GOP (generation of pigs) really that short sighted? Just the other day they said that funding to community colleges will be cut. Now that’s really going to help the economy. All those recent high school graduates who didn’t make the cut at McDonalds will no longer be able to afford to get an education in which he can support himself, his family and in turn America. So now the only place he or she can now turn to is the military for an income.
Apparently what the GOP wants is more canon fodder for more wars in the middle east for the benefit of israhell. Next stop Iran.
Yes, the GOP has been waging a war against the middle class for years. They hate the middle class as the GOP sees them as a rival to their fascist schemes. The GOP also hates the poor and those who cannot, through no fault of their own support themselves. They are considered lazy, freeloading, unwilling to work (for slave wages).
Most of all though, the GOP represents the wealthy elite. Those who believe that they and they alone should control the nation and its people.
The GOP has never supported the Constitution nor the Bill of Rights especially when it comes to the rights of the individual. The GOP despises the First , fourth, fifth amendments as it challenges those in power. I’ve yet to meet a GOp’er who doesn’t hate dissent of any kind or believe that we should have the right of protection against unwarranted and unreasonable searches, or the right to not testify against himself in court. The problem also lies with those on main street who support this party out of ignorance.
The other problem is that the democratic party has become just as bad.
Both parties are now so corrupt, so vile and so willing to throw away our rights, freedoms and legal protections that it makes me wonder just who’s side are they on. It is now clear to me that both parties are controlled by the globalist elite whose main goal is the destruction of the United States in favor of global, one world government.
JohnZ,
I’m beginning to see that I’m not the only one who sees this after all.
No, Mr. Wattree, you are definitely NOT the only one who sees this. I’ve been trying to tell people this for years…ever since the neo-con fascists hijacked a once-honorable Republican Party. Your article is precise and beautifully done. KUDOS! This MUST be circulated as wide as possible. From a 22-year active duty vet…thanks.
Bravo Eric. And the way they succeed is by using race and religion to terrorize working stiffs to vote against their own self interests. The Dubya once said without a hint of embassment that, “My job is to keep repeating the propaganda until it sinks in.” And Saint Ronald Raygun called his agenda, “starving the beast.” The beast being OUR government. Right wingers always increase spending and cut taxes on the uppity ups, causing taxes and fees at the local level to increase.
Bank of AmeriKa got a 45 billion dollar hand out. The same bank that was charging me almost 30% interest on a credit card.
Ok, I gotta stop.
Happy trails to you,
Infidel
Eric: Thank you for describing the situation the Republicans continue to create so accurately, artfully and articulately. In the last 2 l/2 – 3 years I have lost my savings, my IRA and my home. I tried to save my home by using my IRA and savings…you know the American way…being patriotic, taking responsibility and all that crap. Now they want to deconstruct Social Security and I’m about to retire on a pittance. We are all being held hostage and if we stand up for the democratic way we go to jail! I am hoping the American people listen to the voices of our veterans and begin to turn this insanity around.
Thank you, Barbara.
It’s my pleasure. I’m so sorry to hear about your hardship, but maybe we can get that turned around. The corporatists are going so over the top that people are beginning to wake up.
I’ve been waiting for my good friend, Tom to chime in. I’m surprised that I haven’t heard a word from him.
where are you, Tom?
Very well written article. I think you hit the nail on the head. I don’t think Obama has much choice to compromise, though, if he wants to make any progress at all. If he can take a baby step to get a little closer to a goal rather than wait for the American people to elect representatives for the people who will do what is best for all of America rather than their own self interests, then nothing ever would have gotten done. At least now, with the Affordable Health Care framework set up, improvements can be made. At least the unemployed weren’t left to starve and freeze int he winter. You know? Not that I agree with Obama on everything but I think he’s just being pragmatic.
I just wanted to add that this is where I think we, as Americans, need to focus our main efforts: http://www.truth-out.org/unequal-protection-early-role-corporations-america/1303765294
“On the eve of his becoming chief justice of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, Edward G. Ryan said ominously in his 1873 address to the graduating class of the University of Wisconsin Law School:
[There] is looming up a new and dark power…the enterprises of the country are aggregating vast corporate combinations of unexampled capital, boldly marching, not for economical conquests only, but for political power….The question will arise and arise in your day, though perhaps not fully in mine, which shall rule—wealth or man [sic]; which shall lead—money or intellect; who shall fill public stations—educated and patriotic freemen, or the feudal serfs of corporate capital….”
Godwin’s Law, not Goodwin’s.
You should read The Shock Doctrine if you already haven’t. In it, Naomi Klein recounts the many countries shocked into rightwing “free market” economies with the resultant high unemployment, massive wage suppression, and huge increases in poverty. It’s easy to see the strategy of massive, unnecessary, governmental debt leading to the excuse to cut the social safety net and drive down wages to benefit the few real capitalists in a society. You can believe in “capitalism” but you can’t be one unless you have enough money to protect yourself. The distinction is best summarized by a urologist I know-”I have money but I cannot control money” when he said he was rich but not wealthy. I agree with the feeling that the Dems are complicit with this-they’ve sold out to the highest bidder as well. As for the GOP, I tell people I have decided to NOT discuss politics with Repub voting dupes anymore, not because I don’t want to hear “the other side” but because the GOP represents a authoritarian style of governance now. Discussing democracy (or even a federal republic) with someone who’d rather live in a low cost police state is a pointless exercise. And, interestingly enough, according to Klein, that’s part of the plan….
For the very life of me, at this point in time I cannot locate a distinction between the two major political parties in america in terms of what they actually do once in office. The rhetoric with which they market themselves to a dumbed down, distracted, slovenly apathetic electorate is indeed divergent, so what. George Carlin was right. Vote, stay home and masturbate, same impact. Sans a well-heeled lobby effort you have no voice, period. Four hundred of america’s elites hold more wealth, power, and assets than that of a combined 50% of the rest of us. That didn’t happen on one party’s watch. There has been a subversive redistribution of wealth occurring over the past 5 decades, but not in the direction the maniacal screeching heads on your television and radio are always blathering on about. The staunchest “conservative” free marketeers recently eagerly engaged in socialism to bail out their Wall Street banker buds and then the “liberals” came in and carried right on. They’re all on the same team, and you’re not. It is not that any of them have any compunction about socialism; they just don’t think the little people should get in on the action.
And is it really a surprise to anyone? Unshackle yourself from your state sponsored institutionalized American creation myth and your secondary educational socialization and all becomes clearer. All the much lauded freedom and equality envisioned by the founding fodders was for white titled propertied males alone. THAT was the deal. Furthermore in the prevailing view, it was ordained by god to be so; including the enslavement/murder/rape of blacks and the functional genocide of the indigenous peoples inhabiting the land mass previous to its “discovery”, the latter to avoid paying fair market value for the land the “savages” occupied. We still operate concentration camps we refer to as reservations.
America is still a colonial enterprise and we’re all sharecroppers. It is as american as violence and apple pie. It is our past, and our present. And so long as americans continue to be distracted by trinkets, gadgetry, and Dancing With The Stars, it is our future.
Great piece Eric. Its absolutely spot on. Though I don’t share your fondness for the democrats I believe like Chris Hedges that both parties do the bidding of the corporate oligarchs. I authored a Risk Rap blog after the passage of the health care bill entitled Kristallnacht in America. How the GOP uses the Big Lie to frame public debate and shape political consciousness. I fully agree with your assessment on how they use tactics and methods devised by Goebbels in the Third Reich.
The question begging for an answer is “are we living under fascism?” Though I must answer that question with a qualified no, we are fast approaching a corporate police state where the illusion of participatory democracy is showcased in a theater of the absurd. All citizens are issued complimentary ducats financed with the filthy lucre of 527 llc’s. Other popular posts on Risk Rap is “Il Duce’s Ghost” and “American Evita”. Seems the subject of fascism is becoming a most prescient subject.
Thanks again for a great piece.
peace and prayers, riskrapper
This is a great piece! Usually Hitler comparisons are unhelpful and distasteful but here you’ve applied it fairly and backed it up. My only constructive critique would be, if you can edit, that “marshal” law should really be “martial” law. Thanks for a great article, I’m sharing it on Facebook now.
Just a point of clarification. Godwin’s Law does not state ” that whenever you bring up Hitler or the Nazis as a metaphor to define others you automatically render your argument meaningless.”
In fact the rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that the likelihood of such a reference or comparison arising increases as the discussion progresses. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact.
So go right ahead and use the Nazi comparison, as it appears quite appropriate.
I wholeheartedly agree with you Eric. This article embodies exactly what I have been saying…thank you.
The wild card in this is the NRA. I don’t know why, but the Democrats have been shooting themselves in the foot for twenty years on the subject of the Second Amendment. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard someone say “I have to vote Republican, to keep my Second Amendment freedom”, I could go buy the little fishing pontoon boat I’ve been admiring.
Most NRA members vote that single issue. Each NRA member has on average two friends who vote the same way. That’s a lot of votes out there that the Democrats are rejecting by being wishy-washy or worse on the Second Amendment.
After all the NRA gatherings and functions I’ve been at, my gut feeling is that if the Democrats took a firm stance good enough to earn an A rating from the NRA, a million votes would move from the Republican column to the Democrats. If the DNC and leading Democrats made clear that there would be no new gun control measures entertained from now on, while measures to affirm and clearly implement the recent pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court decisions would be welcomed, the Democrats could take back the House.
I say this as a Libertarian fed up with the lies of GOP members who claim to be libertarian: Democratic Party leadership, embrace the Second Amendment — and kick GOP ass.

Good take.
FYI, it’s Godwin’s Law, not Goodwin, and it doesn’t quite mean what you describe it as meaning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law
Hammer, meet head of nail. This is it in a nutshell. I’ve actually written a few pieces accusing them of treason. The systemic dismantling of America’s manufacturing base, the continuing attacks on the middle class, and the shackling of our military to two separate quagmires. If one planned a way to disable what is arguably the most powerful nation on Earth, they couldn’t have done a better job of it.
This article is the equivalent of political racism and is basically a load of horse poop. Comparing state politics to the country is such a manipulative scare tactic that I wouldn’t address it except if left ignored can become like a festering wound. I’m sorry your president is such a failure, but there’s no other word that aptly describes Obama. He campaigned on transparency but has been anything but. Since you like the Hitler reference let’s talk about it. Obama has gone on a spending spree that not even Paris Hilton and the Kardashian’s could rival. He is so out of control that S&P last week took a shot over the bow stating that if you continue on this path America, you’re going to be in trouble.
Obama is either an idiot or Hitler reincarnate. He either has no concept on the ramifications from his actions or is pushing ahead in an attempt to destroy this country. Either scenario is scary but both are reminiscent of hyperinflation that Germany suffered after world war I. It was because of this that Hitler was able to rise to power, but is Obama trying to break the system ? It sure looks like it. Commodity prices skyrocketed this week as the world started selling the dollar heavily. Oddly enough some of Obama’s biggest supporters have been selling the dollar short (betting that it will go down). Is it in America’s best interest ? You bet your ass it isn’t. $8 gas ? 15% unemployment ? How much can we handle ? Luckily the people aren’t going to stick around to find out. I don’t think anyone in the GOP even considers any politician in Michigan for a national role. The state is totally messed up. Your suggestion that it could happen on a national level is not only ludicrous it’s insane. This country is ready for the next guy to take over, Obama you’re fired.
Has anyone noticed how 10 or so years ago everything was made in Japan, and now everything is made in China? Is it possible we are being used as guinea pigs(consumers) so big money can buy up cheap foreign stocks, direct trade from country X, then when the stocks flat-line, sell, sell, sell? Meanwhile American jobs are eliminated due to overpriced goods, in comparison to a foreign slave-labor commodities market.
The Corporations and by extension the Republicans need a cheaper source of labor. They are tired of only being able to exploit third world countries overseas and across the border. It would be even cheaper for them to turn America into a third world Banana Republic with millions of out of work, unhealthy, uneducated drones that will accept anything the Corporate Overlords deign to give them. It makes sense then that Republicans are gutting any program that keeps people healthy, gutting education and creating voter suppression laws all across the land. We must wake up and join Wisconsin,Michigan,Ohio,Florida and soon to come to your hometown and fight!
Eric, while reading your column, I realized that I have found the true truth in your writing! Keep it up – don’t slow down! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, Butterfly.
AWESOME ARTICLE! You are a genius!
Very long week or I would elaborate…but I got the important part out anyway
Thank you for your article. I’m sending to all my freinds. Nail-on-the-head!
Thank you, Nicole.
We must all come together to bring the GOP threat to an end.
Dissenting opinions aren’t welcome here. And You’re a veteran writing this ? So much for fighting for freedoms. I guess the book burnings will happen next. Group think from Orwell comes to mind. You can pretend all you want but this president hasn’t achieved anything and wasn’t the best candidate even his party had to offer. People voted in 2008 to prove that they weren’t racist, in 2012 they’re going to have to vote for someone else to prove they aren’t idiots.
Oh please. People voted for Obama because he is young, bright, well educated, adept, and many other positive things that are welcome in a President. Fighting the powers that be is an uphill battle and he hasn’t been too successful at it but saying that people voted for him to prove they aren’t racist? Get over it already. I would have voted for the ice cream man before I voted Republican again and I appreciate that at least he appeared to be politically savvy and intelligent, which I still think he is.
That’s not true, Karl.
You’ve been given an opportunity to dissent and you’ve squandered by just spewing emotion instead of challenging my position with any facts – and there’s a very good reason for that – all the facts support my position.
Goodwin has pointed out that the “law” which takes his name is not meant to apply when discussing real-world history or politics. Otherwise you couldn’t discuss 20th-century history at all.
6 million jews died in the holocaust and not only is it insensitive to demean the event by comparing it to an American political party, your references are racist and antisemitic. Your GOP friends are right. You are not only lessening your argument you’re showing that it’s possible for a black man to be a racist. Here’s a video about the holocaust which should help you understand where I’m coming from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWwl-lr9wNc&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fresults%3Fsearch_query%3Djewish%2Bconcentration%2Bcamp%26aq%3Df&has_verified=1
Fred Toben told me all about the holocaust.
Ask the Palestinians about holocaust.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find a holocaust-denier among a crowd of racists. Luckily the US men and women who free’d the Jews from concentration camps were good people.
The Jewish population is just about back to where it was pre WWII. You’re in good company with other racists and terrorist like the President of Iran. I don’t need to pay any more attention to this site. Peace be with you.
Where did he compare anything to the Holocaust? Did I miss something? He compared the tactics the GOP is using to those that the Nazis used to compel the populace to follow them. Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it and when put in the proper context such as this article it is important to take the message to heart otherwise it may happen again. These people running the GOP of today are dangerous and there are far too many Democrats that are complicit in the corporate takeover of America. If this doesn’t stop we are in for some very rough times.
The Jewish people have a holiday which remembers the holocaust which happens to occur this week. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_HaShoah
Eric, way to go.
The Republicans first tried to throw retired Americans to the wolves in 1964.
Barry Goldwater said he wanted to make Social Security payments voluntary, which he and all his pals knew would destroy it. In a landslide, the US polulation told him to go to hell.
But after catching up a bit of ground with the likes of Nixon and Reagan, the Republicans are committed to destroying SS again. I mean totally. The Koch brothers and the whole RNC. We only KNOW of idiots like Sarah Palin because they pick the morons to do the scutwork…
Ah, sorry. I’m making it even more negative. Anyway keep up the good work.
i agree with the fact the gop is playing the american people. by this they are creating all this made up propagander, to confuse and treat the poor and middle class like they are stupid.if its one thing i want to see its that democrats or independants take back full control.look what led us to todays situation in our country.it was george bush who left this country in a mess when obama took over . and now they try to stall and play every game to make obama look bad. as the other writer wrote its a page out of hitlers books to control and manipulate the poor and middles class well filling the poctets of the most wealthy. please think and do research america to avoid the doom of 2012 that could start the downfall of america if we allow the gop to reign in 2012.spoken from a middleclass disabled vietnam veteran who knows what itt is to suffer and go with out well proudly defending this beautiful country. i just hope some thing will happen to stop the gop from making us a prisoner in this free land many of us fought and sacrafised for well the wealthy didn’t even serve for the most part.i love you america and i will pray all heres this and don’t let the gop fool you with their propogander .
Karl,
You said nothing with a lot of words. What spending spree has Obama gone on? A baseless accusation since the President doesn’t appropriate funds of any kind. You accuse him of being dumb or Hitler incarnate but give no reason for that accusation. This is exactly what everyone else who thought the article spot on, my being one of them, is saying. Your rhetoric doesn’t match up, or at least you have no factual basis or just haven’t stated any, assuming everyone would know what you are talking about, which we don’t. Explain, if you can, what you mean.
This article is painfully accurate. The right wing loons can’t dispute its accuracy because there is nothing to dispute. The GOP is out to destroy America and replace it with a plutocracy – it’s obvious and transparent, and disgusting as well. This country is headed for dissolution or a second Civil War if the people don’t wake up, shake the FUX Noose induced cobwebs out of their heads and put the right wing garbage on the trash heap of history where it belongs. I give the USA until roughly 2020-2025 before Civil War 2.0.
