GOING ROGUE: NATO’s War Crimes in Libya

by Susan Lindauer,

former US Asset covering Libya at the United Nations

It’s a story CNN won’t report. Late at night there’s a pounding on the door in Misurata. Armed soldiers force young Libyan women out of their beds at gun-point. Hustling the women and teenagers into trucks, the soldiers rush the women to gang bang parties for NATO rebels—or else rape them in front of their husbands or fathers. When NATO rebels finish their rape sport, the soldiers cut the women’s throats.

Rapes are now ongoing acts of war in rebel-held cities, like an organized military strategy, according to refugees. Joanna Moriarty, who’s part of a global fact-finding delegation visiting Tripoli this week, also reports that NATO rebels have gone house to house through Misurata, asking families if they support NATO. If the families say no, they are killed on the spot.  If families say they want to stay out of the fighting, NATO rebels take a different approach to scare other families. The doors of “neutral homes” are welded shut, Moriarty says, trapping families inside. In Libyan homes, windows are typically barred. So when the doors to a family compound get welded shut, Libyans are entombed in their own houses, where NATO forces can be sure large families will slowly starve to death.

These are daily occurrences, not isolated events. And Gadhaffi’s soldiers are not responsible. In fact, pro-Gadhaffi and “neutral” families are targeted as the victims of the attacks. Some of the NATO tactics may have occurred in hopes of laying blame on Gadhaffi’s door. However the attacks are back firing.

Flashback to Serbia

The events are eerily reminiscent of Serbia’s conflict in the Balkans with its notorious rape camps— Except today NATO itself is perpetrating these War Crimes—as if they have learned the worst terror tactics from their enemies.

Their actions would be categorized as War Crimes, just like Serb leader, Slobadon Milosevic—except that NATO won’t allow itself to face prosecution. According to NATO, International Law is for the other guy.

NATO is wrong. So long as NATO governments provide the funding, assault rifles, military training, ground advisers, support vehicles and air power, they are fully responsible for the actions of their soldiers in the war zone. Libya’s rebels are not a rag tag fighting force, either. Thanks to NATO’s largesse, financed by U.S. and British taxpayers, they’re fully decked out in military uniforms, parading through the streets with military vehicles for all the people to see.

And they do see. In Washington, Congress likes to pretend that America has not become involved in the day to day actualities of military planning. However refugees have observed U.S, British, French and Israeli soldiers standing by as rebel soldiers attack civilians.

“Rape parties” are the most graphic examples of NATO’s loss of moral control.  One weeping father told the fact-finding delegation how a couple of weeks ago NATO rebels targeted seven separate households, kidnapping a virgin daughter from each pro-Gadhaffi family. The rebels were paid for each kidnapped girl, just as they are paid for each Libyan soldier they kill— like mercenary soldiers. They hustled the girls into trucks, and took them to a building where the girls were locked in separate rooms.

NATO soldiers proceeded to drink alcohol, until they got very drunk. Then the leader told them to rape the virgin daughters in gang bang style. When they’d finished raping the girls, the NATO leader told them to cut the breasts off the living girls and bring the breasts to him.  They did this while the girls were alive and screaming. All the girls died hideous deaths. Then their severed breasts were taken to a local square and arranged to spell the word “whore.”

The grieving father spoke to a convention of workers, attended by the global fact-finding delegation.  He was openly weeping, as all of us should. NATO’s offenses in Libya are as terrible and unforgivable as Syria’s castration and mutilation of the 13 year old boy that shocked the world. Yet so long as NATO’s the guilty party, the western media has looked the other way in distaste.

Some of us are paying attention— We can see that NATO has gone rogue in Libya. And the Libyan people themselves consider it unforgivable. Last week, 2000 Tribal Leaders gathered in Tripoli to draft a Constitution for the country, as demanded by the British government. Notoriously, British warships and U.S. drones pounded the streets of Tripoli with bunker bombs and missiles for days and nights close to where the Tribal Leaders were meeting. From Tripoli, it felt awfully like the British were trying to stop the Libyan people from bringing this Constitution to life.

Tribal Leaders Condemn British Aggression

Here’s what those 2,000 Tribal Leaders had to say about British aggression, in a statement approved unanimously on June 3. Sheikh Ali, head of the Tribal Leaders, delivered it to Joanna Moriarty and other members of the global fact finding mission:

“The Libyan people have the right to govern themselves.  Constant attacks from the skies, at all hours of the day have completely disrupted the lives of the families of Libya. There has never been any fighting in Tripoli, yet we are bombed every day. We are civilians and we are being killed by the British and NATO. Civilians are people without guns, yet the British and NATO protect only the armed crusaders from the East by acting as their attack army. We have read the UN resolutions and there is no mention of bombing innocent civilians. There is no mention of assassinating the legitimate authorities in all of Libya.”

“The Libyan People have the right to select their own leaders. We have suffered occupation by foreign countries for thousands of years. Only in the last 41 years have we Libyans enjoyed property ownership. Only in the last 41 years have we seen our country develop. Only in the last 41 years have we seen all of the Libyans enjoy a better life, and know that our children will have a better life then we have had. But now with the British and NATO bombings of our country, we see the destruction of our new and developed infrastructure.”

“We leaders see the destruction of our culture. We leaders see tears in the eyes of our children because of the constant fear from the “rain of terror” in the skies of Libya from the British and NATO bombings. Our old people suffer from heart problems, increased diabetes and loss of vigor. Our young mothers are losing their babies every day because of the stress of the British and NATO bombings. These lost babies are the future of Libya. They can never be replaced. Our armies have been destroyed by the British and NATO bombings. We cannot defend ourselves from attacks from anyone.”

“As Tribal Leaders of Libya, we must ask why have the British and NATO decided to wage this war against the Libyan people? There are a small percentage of dissidents in the east of Libya that started an armed insurrection against our legitimate authority. Every country has the right to defend itself against armed insurrection. So why cannot Libya defend itself?”

“The Tribal Leaders of Libya demand that all acts of aggression, by the British and NATO, against the Libyan People stop immediately. June 3, 2011″

Does that sound like NATO’s got a winning strategy? If so, they should think again. Even if Gadhaffi falls, NATO has no hope of eliminating the entire tribal structure of the Libya, which embraces all families and clans. Instead NATO is losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the people with every missile that smashes into another building.

Tribal Backlash

The Libyan people are fighting back. This report arrived from Tripoli today. It is not edited, and describes a backlash in tribal warfare from the City of Darna in the East, where the rebellion is supposed to be strongest:

“People found the body of Martyr Hamdi Jumaa Al-Shalwi in Darna  city eastern Libya. His head was cut off and then placed in front of the headquarters of the Internal Security Dernah. That was after being kidnapped from a checkpoint complex Herich. In response to this Al-Shalwi family erected a funeral tent to receive condolences in which the green flag [of Libya] was raised. After the funeral the whole city of Darna rose up with all its tribes which include:- the Abu Jazia family, Al-Shalwi family, The Quba families, Ain Marra families. After that, Al-Shalwi family and Bojazia tribe attacked the headquarters of the Transitional Council and shot all the rats (rebels) and green flags were raised. Furthermore, the son of Sofian Qamom was killed, also two members of Al- Qaeda got killed by residents of the city of Darna. The flag of the Libyan Jamahiriya was raised above Darna after the clashes.”

CNN has reported none of this. The corporate media continues to lull Americans into false confidence in the progress of the Libyan War. Americans are way out of the loop as to the failures of the War effort. As a result, Libyans are losing trust in the potential for friendships with the West. An unlikely champion might restore that faith. Right now a team of international attorneys is preparing an emergency grievance on behalf of the Tribal Leaders and the Libyan people. The International Peace Community could contribute substantially to restoring Libya’s faith in the West by supporting this human rights action. Indeed, the Libyan people and Tribal Leaders deserve our support. Together we must demand that NATO face prosecution for War Crimes, citing these examples and others.

NATO governments must be required to pay financial damages to Libyan families, on par with what the U.S. and Britain would demand for their own citizens under identical circumstances. The world cannot tolerate double standards, whereby powerful nations abuse helpless citizens. The International Geneva Conventions of War must be enforced, and equal force of the law must be applied.

The Fight for Misurata

Though attacks are widespread, some of the worst abuses are occurring in Misurata. The City has the only mega port in Libya, and handles transportation for the country, including the largest oil and gas depots. NATO will stop at nothing to take the City.

Refugees report that the Israeli Star of David flag was draped over the largest Mosque in Misurata on the second day of fighting, actions guaranteed to humiliate and antagonize the local population.

NATO forces have cut off food and medical supplies throughout Libya. But the seas are plentiful with fish in Mediterranean waters. Brave fishermen have taken their boats out of port, trying to harvest fish for the hungry population. To break their perseverance, American drones and British war planes steadily fire missiles on the fishing boats, deliberately targeting non-military vessels to chase them out of the waters.

Yet for all of its superior fire power and tactical advantages, NATO still appears to be losing. According to the fact-finding delegation, reporting today, many rebels have left Misurata and have taken boats back to Benghazi.  The big central part of Misurata is now free and under central military control.  The Libyan people shot down two helicopter gunships near the town of Zlitan. And although Al Jazeera played a grand story about a major uprising against Ghadafi in Tripoli, one of the Tribal leaders’ wives lives on the street that claims to be the center of the demonstration, and declared that she saw no crowds out of her window. Buses pictured in Al Jazeera video do not run in Tripoli.

One has to ask: What kind of society does NATO think it’s creating, if in fact Gadhaffi can be deposed—which looks very unlikely? Have Washington and London learned nothing from their failure in Iraq? The cruelty and debasement of NATO’s forces is already fueling profound hatreds that will continue for the next generation.

Who could be proud of such “allies?” Not the Libyan people, surely.

NATO soldiers are no better than thugs. Anyone else would be labeled terrorists. Most worrisome, NATO’s actions are guaranteed to have serious consequences for long term political stability in Libya. Vendettas are forming between tribes and family clans that will carry over for decades. It is extremely short-sighted and self destructive.

NATO should take this warning to heart: Its soldiers are not legal-proof. The International Peace Community is already taking action to uphold Libya’s natural rights at the United Nations. Many of us in the International Peace Community shall defend Libya’s women. And we shall demand War Crimes prosecution and major financial damages against NATO governments, on behalf of the people.

Nobody’s fooled by NATO’s story that Gadhaffi’s the guilty party. We know that Washington, Britain, France, Italy— and Israel are the real culprits.

The murdered women of Misurata shall have justice. NATO can count on it.

  1. Thank you VT and Susan Lindauer and all the other speakers of truth. The truth must be told to everyone who will listen. It’s atrocious what’s being done in the name of greed and simply because they can.
But what’s much worse is these glorified lying media outlets who care nothing of the truth and perpetuate lies and propaganda like the stupid puppets that they are. That’s what’s truly sickening … selling their souls to the highest bidder, profits and ratings are their only guide.

I thought the following snippet from Coast-to-Coast AM says it best, referring to the small group of elite greedy filthy rich … . Some refer to them as “Globalist’s, Elite, Collectivist’s, but they all refer to this group of super powerful. Author and researcher G. Edward Griffin has written a Who’s Who book about this which can be found on his website RealityZone / UnfilteredNews. Interesting, shocking, yet true.
He’s even started a group called “Freedom Founders International?”

    “Tonight’s Show, Wednesday, June 29th:
William Engdahl has written on issues of energy, politics and economics for more than 30 years, beginning with the first oil shock in the early 1970′s. He’ll discuss how a tiny group of global elite are gaining control over the world’s oil, agriculture, and currencies.

  2. Why would not you write about Gaddafi’s crimes? At least, there are more evidence and you would look more reliable and professional. I would double what Gaddafi is offering to you? I would help you with facts and research as well.

  3. A Message from VT Reader who wishes to remain anonymous

A very good description if there were not the name of Serbia. I am very disappointed about the facts you are writing about Serbia. You should say Bosnia, and bosnian serbs. There were no violation camps in Serbia at all but possibly in Bosnia – and don’t forget every side – croatian, serbian and muslims commited crimes against each other and against women. Please stop finally the diabolization of Serbia ! What is done in Lybia is what has been done against Serbia, but you talk about Serbia as if it would be the monster of the Balkans – you should be better informed. Unfortunately your words about Serbia are the same as in the mainstream media.

    • Mr. X, I apologize for singling out Serbia. I really do. You make a tragic observation that in war all sides face tremendous moral challenges. All of the Balkans suffered terribly. Poor Sarajevo, the City of Peace in the Olympics brought to experience such pain. It’s truly heart-breaking.

      • Susan, media manipulation and the old good guy versus bad guy scenarios were evident even in the tragic balkan wars. Here are some similarities and untold truths about the Kosovo war in 1999 and the current war in Libya

        http://www.iacenter.org/nafricamideast/libya_kosovo030811/

The question is will any journalist or media organization face any justice for inciting wars, defaming countries and it’s leaders by utterly lying to the general public? Very unlikely, however, it’s the mainstream media that carry a heavy burden for these wars. Let’s hope that by your actions alone bring about some change. Great work you are doing.

“Joanna Moriarty, who’s part of a global fact-finding delegation”

Who is ‘fact-finder’ Moriarty working for? I apologize if it was in your article and I missed it.

Why should we believe anything Moriarty says? Remember that real tears rolled down the cheeks of daughter of the Kuaiti ambassador as she told a complete lie to congress that Iraqi soldiers were throwing Kuaiti babies out of incubators? Sadam’s rape rooms? And all the other bs? Why should we believe this latest war horror story.isn’t just more propaganda for the gullible goyem? Maybe you fully trust your source Moriarty but we don’t know who she is, who she’s working for (the communist UN perhaps?) or what’s her agenda.

    • killerklownsfromouterspace

Global Friendship this information was supplied by SL further up this thread.
globalfriendship.us/boardofdirect.htm shows a listing of the directors, the names of which would seem to indicate that their ethnic origins are not Hebraic…rare indeed for a ‘foundation’ these days. that is probably why you might choose to believe that the information supplied here is not “more propaganda for the gullible goyem” for a change….or not…if your questions were sincere, I believe they have been answered. If it’s zionist propaganda that you are looking for however, just dial up Debbie Menon on this very site and you’ll get your fix.

  5. Why isn’t the President of the USA being bombarded with this info? Who can we contact to stop this all out disgusting war on innocent women, families, etals?

    • Yes, what’s the answer to why isn’t the President being informed of these crimes? Or, is he part of it with full knowledge? And I thought he was a conscientious leader … guess I was wrong about that too. I’m not proud of our government and haven’t been for a very long time; at least since I started waking up about 15 years ago.
Damn, can’t anything be done? I’m working with you all here on the collective consciousness of those who intend good resolution to this monumental world problem.

  10. Ken Rechtstein

Thank you Susan for your courage to speak up the truth.

    1) The PNAC rationale was the prelude for the 9/11 False Flag-Inside Job that lead to the invasion aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. Just look at the shape Iraq and Afghanistan are in by NATO’s own hand, acting as an Expeditionary Corps for Israel,

    2) All the turmoil stirred up in the Arab countries has been carefully planned to take place simultaneously, in order to create the necessary chaos that will make it possible to overthrow the old but experienced guard there and put in place puppet regimes. It has nothing to do with “bringing democracy-freedom-prosperity” to the Arab World. Just look at Bahrain and there it is the twisted hypocrisy and double talk, which show all too well that, those operations have been engineered to bring about regime change in the targeted countries, and put Israel friendly neo-liberal stooges in government not antagonistic to the NWO,

    3) Gaddafi was too independent for the taste of the Zios and the de facto coalition USA-FRANCE-GB, all 3 countries hijacked by the Zion Talmudic Mafia Dons. He challenged the NWO, he challenged the established Monetary System, that’s the main reason why they want to get rid of him and plunder Libya for themselves: OIl and Gas, Water and other unrevealed minerals in abundance, including Gold and rare metals, necessary for the new technologies.

    4) They want Tripoli to be the GHQ of AFRICOM. Libya has the perfect geographical location and plenty of water for the bases, IL-USA-GB want to have there. France is considered by said Triumvirat as an outsider that can be done with anytime soon, once Libya is conquered if the French UMP is kicked out of the Elysée Palace. They had DSK as spare for Sarkozy, but the guy could not steer his primitive impulses, same way as former Israel’s president Katsav. So he blew it all and Sarkozy tried from the start to play the lead man and make himself indispensable, but that also can change.

As Gen. Smedley Butler said “war is a racket”, and he has been proved right. We are dealing with Mafiosi en charge of International Policy.

  11. Susan Lindauer

Here’s a response from Tripoli today:

Outside the hotel (this is the place all the foreign journalists are kept) a group oof 50 to 70 young women with their children held up home-made signs and banners asking that the reporters report the truth. JoAnne stepped out of the car, she was immediately approached by a mother with several small children. The woman asked if we were journalists, JoAnne said that we were only citizens. The woman pleaded that we please tell the truth about Libya. All she asked was for us to tell the truth. She said her young son would fight like an adult in this war before the Libyans would fall under the control of a foreign leader/group/government.

  12. Sent To my MP with your article attached.

I write in the hope that unlike Messrs Cameron, Hague and Fox that you have a conscience. If you read the following article from a source I regard as impeccable you will get the gist of things. I wonder does the British government now condone the use of rape as a tactic ?
With regard to the British involvement in the NATO so called humanitarian intervention in Libya. It is abundantly clear that this intentionally murderous campaign was incepted in falsehood and was pre-planned long before the dates we were officially given by the deceitful, sycophantic mainstream media and your highly esteemed and most honourable colleagues in the cabinet.
Parliament has a duty to represent the interests of the electorate, anything but that is a breech of contract. I would be most surprised if becoming an international pariah state guilty of multiple war crimes is in the national interest. Cameron, Hague and Fox all appear hell bent on pursuing policies which suit Israeli and US foreign policy to the detriment of the British people and of course our servicemen, the rest of parliament seem perfectly happy to just go along with things. Why is that ?
Another pertinent question I pose is. Which special interest or lobby group or foreign power is determining so called British foreign policy ?
Who will gain from this military adventure ? Well not the civilians whose lives are being ended or destroyed in a humanitarian manner on the orders of Mr Cameron. Nor the taxpayer who will be as usual picking up the expanding bill. Nor will our overstretched and under equipped troops who will inevitably need to be deployed there.
Many of your colleagues espouse the need for victory in the “war on terror”. According to the Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms. US Department of Defense 2005 the definition of Terrorism is:
“The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.”

I put it to you that NATO is clearly exceeding the terms of the UN resolution 1973 which FYI can be found here.

    http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2011/sc10200.doc.htm#Resolution

We are mindful too that January 17 marks the 50th anniversary of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell speech. We recall his indictment:

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every missile fired signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense.”

In the words of General Smedley Butler who is reported as preventing a fascist takeover of the USA “war is a racket”. I would recommend you appraise yourself of those events and the parallels in the modern context.
One last related observation I have prior to the article. Are you aware of the USA Patriot act and the implications for democracy in the USA, it has just been extended by the US Govt for another four years. entire sections of the Patriot Act are verbatim and identical to two of the most frightening laws in World History:

The 1929 Bolshevik Communist Criminal Act established Communist control in the age of Joseph Stalin. It created a security apparatchik unparallelled in its intrusion into the lives of ordinary, non-political families. For enforcement, it created the Gulags, which quickly filled with intellectuals and dissidents, poets and hard luck Russian people who got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was enough for a neighbour to point a finger secretly for that individual to disappear to the Siberian work camps for life. Secret charges, secret evidence, secret accusations figured prominently— identical to the Patriot Act.
It’s hard to say if that’s worse than Germany’s Enabling Act in 1933. Such comforting words, “the Enabling Act” established the legal framework for Nazi Fascism. The Enabling Law lay the parameters for the Third Reich of Adolph Hitler.

You should find Googling the phrase “FEMA camps” enlightening. With regard to the above. I fear history is repeating itself.
Additionally the Conservative government has failed to rescind the one sided extradition agreement with the USA that the treacherous Labour government enacted. Are you aware that any British subject (presumably including MPs) can be extradited at the whim of the US Govt with no evidence at all. Do you approve of that ? Does this encroach on British sovereignty ?
    sincerely

  13. I agree with all the above comments, but i have two further comments of my own.
1] NATO was set up to defend the west. as far as i know Libya as not directly theatened the west. Propaganda maybe, Money maybe. But the major powers are all guilty of the same charges.
2] No stop the NATO rallies? at least i haave not heard any reports. Or is this proof that our rent-a-mob, are paid for by our government to create the illusion of a free democratic UK?

    • How do you know that NATO was set up to “defend the West”? Please don’t lose sight of the fact that nothing our Masters say can be taken at face value.

    • Gadaffi threatened to “turn Europe black” That is a quote Gadaffi has stated on more than one occasion and anyone can google it to find the articles.

Before the fighting started in Libya Gadaffi was being paid
billions every year by just one European country, Italy, to hold back the flood of African migrants he was and still is allowing to transit Libya to enter the west disguised as “refugees.” .

Note that the pictures and videos of “Libyan refugees” disprove the lie propagated by the zionist-owned MSM that they are harmless refugees because the vast majority are young adult males (they are NOT Libyans and they are NOT refugees.)

All these so-called “Libyan refugees” need are weapons supplied by the EU/UN commissars and they’re an invading army.

  14. Where can you find this news? I have never heard this. I cannot picture the Libyan rebels raping their own kind, that is unbelievable. The rebels are longing for a dignified existence from their ruthless dictator

    • ammar,

I researched this when this fiasco broke out, and this is from memory.
The “rebels” were basically the local “mafia” who’s main business was shipping poor black sub saharan Africans to Europe. This annoyed Italy – cos they were being overwhelmed with incredibly poor desperate black human beings and Italy is mainly white – and doesn’t want Venice to become totally black. So they came to an agreement with the Libyan Government. and the Libyans told the sub saharans to go back home instead of trying to travel to the promised land. Then one of the banksters realised “what was really going on” – you need a good degree in economics to understand it – properly – and ordered Cameron and Sarkozy to release all the desperate very black human beings to come to Europe – by bombing them to shit and spreading false propaganda such that they would try and kill each other before they drowned in the Med.

What more do you want to know?

      Tony

      • I sent Susan’s article to my contact in Libya for comment. He is a journalist.

        His response:

I have just returned from Misrata, Benghazi and
other eastern Libyan towns myself after a two week trip – my first visit to
Libya since 1998 – where I have helped with the delivery of urgent medical
        aid to Misrata.

There are numerous – and consistent – stories of gang rape by Gaddafi
troops, many of whom have been issued with Viagra just for that purpose. I
even met one Gaddafi rapist who described to me in detail what he and his
officers did. There were other media people there, from the BBC,
Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya, Russia’s RT TV channel and the UK Guardian. I have
wondered about the town, much of which has been turned into ruins by
Gaddafi’s Grad rockets, and spoke to people at will. I was not accompanied
by any minders – my only companion was an Arab doctor friend who came with
me from the UK also to help establish aid lines.

Throughout our trip to Misrata, Ajdabiya, Benghazi, Tobruk and Derna we
encountered NOT ONE complaint about the behaviour of the rebels or even the
NATO attacks. The only complaint I heard was that NATO was treating Gaddafi
with kid gloves and was not bombing Gaddafi’s thugs hard enough.

We left Misrata on a fishing boat and went on to Adjabia, where we heard
similar stories of gang rape by Gaddafi officers and men. On the way back
from Ajdabya to Benghazi, our car was fired on by Gaddafi snipers in an
area where we were not expecting Gaddafi thugs. The car overturned and was
subjected to continuous machine-gun fire until the petrol tank blew up.
Luckily, we had jumped out of the car as soon as it overturned and hid
behind mounds of rubble overnight. In the meantime, our assailants,
thinking we had been burnt to death in the car, drove off. We suffered
only minor injuries – my friend a broken leg and a fractured neck bone, and
        me just bruises.)

Please don’t believe the crap that’s being peddled by Gaddafi’s naive,
amoral and ignorant fans (Westerners and others). There are some problems
with law and order in Benghazi (not Misrata, Ajdabiya, Tobruk or Derna),
mostly with some people taking the law into their own hands with regard to
former Gaddafi secret policemen, torturers and executioners. But the only
rape taking place is that by Gaddafi’s goons.

        • Susan Lindauer

There’s a significant problem with this report. It’s totally inconsistent with what a govt trying to keep order would do. They want to keep order, not stir up troubles. It is however consistent with what rebels would want the Libyan people to think, because they’re trying to create a justification for overturning the govt. The govt, however, doesn’t want to be overthrown. So it would not want to play these games.

        • Hey guys! This response is from Joanna Moriarty herself. She asked me to post it for her.

          Joanna says:

“We have so much documentation that it make your head spin. We spoke with 250 rebels who were released by the Tribal Leaders with the blessings of Ghadafi, the stories they tell of the atrocities that they did are horrifying we have them on tape. We also have many rebels that are documented admitting all the atrocities that they themselves committed. But, here is one truth that is irrefutable – the 2000 tribes of Libya are the actual government here, if anyone does not know this then they do not know Libya. These tribal leaders released 150 rebel prisoners 3 weeks ago, 10 days later another 250 were released. There were about 20 foreigners that witnessed this magnificent show of forgiveness, we have this on tape. There is another release of 200 prisoners in these coming days.

Go to Benghazi and you will not find one single prisoner because they have all been killed. This is a hard fact. Anyone that says they interviewed prisoners in Misurata is a liar. The Misurata prisoners that were released said that they were paid 2500 dinar for every soldier they killed and another 1000 dinar for burning the bodies. This is why there are no prisoners, so who is believable 250 prisoners on tape or someone who will not even give his name and makes statements that are unbelievable and unverifiable.

Here in Tripoli, the people say, please tell them to come to Tripoli and speak to us but they will not come because they don’t want the truth. They would like to ask these liars to PROVE what they say, they say none of their lies can be proved. Yesterday was Ghadafi’s birthday, they bombed the H*** out of this place yesterday, many many people crying and big damage, but they are not breaking the back of these people. They had parties and shot off fireworks for 3 hours, we were invited to a wedding because they wanted to show us how life continues here and they celebrate life every day.

This man says no complaints about NATO in the East , what kind of idiot is he? NATO is not bombing the rebels, NATO is working for the rebels- this is complete and utter bullsh***. People don’t dare complain about the rebels, they are scared for their lives and their family lives, we have met many people who have escaped these place with their lives, but most don’t want their names out because they have family left there and if they show their face or publically speak about the rebel atrocities then the members of their families that are left will be killed. We know this from first hand, one of our group had this exact problem and could not be filmed, his father called him and said the rebels saw him on TV and if he spoke out one more time against them they would kill his brother one by one and then begin with his other family members.

Today we went to the Roxis hotel to meet with some very important officials, on our way out, there was a large group of women and children holding signs up that said “tell the TRUTH”, “thank you Qatar for killing our people”, “thank you NATO for destroying our country”. WE love the leader of our revolution, M. Ghadafi. I stopped and took photos and the women came up to me instantly, they thought I was a reporter as all the reporters stay in the Roxis Hotel. They were quite angry and said, TELL THE TRUTH, we want to see the TRUTH outside of Libya we are sick of the lies. One lady had a very small boy with her (maybe 3 years old) he was dressed in a military outfit, he was black, she said you see my son, even our children will fight against this terror, we will never accept NATO or the rebel RATs.

This is literally everywhere in Tripoli, tonight thousands were on First of September street in support of their revolutionary leader.

In all the time (5.5 years) we have come here we have never heard of oppression by Ghadafi, the people have great respect and love for him. They all wear green and wear photos of him around their necks, believe me the Western news is so far from the truth they are on another planet. We have never seen anybody beaten, harassed, in prison, in fact we have been days and never even seen a policeman unlike our trips to Cairo where armed guards are on every corner, with tanks around Mosques on Fridays. Believe us, before this mess, it was safer in Tripoli than in Houston.

I don’t believe that this man was even in Libya, I dare him to bring forward this soldier who claimed all this terrible things – he cannot do it. This is not the Libyan way, they don’t pass out Viagra, this is from the Western mind – I may explode before long, cannot suffer fools lightly and these people have mouths that are not connected to souls.

The final two verifiable truths about the atrocities committed by NATO and the Rebels and the US and UK are:

          1. The leader of a tribe of 1 million Libyans living in Benghazi was brutally murdered in his home by the rebels after a kangaroo court which was broadcast in the news on TV here in Libya by Dr. Shakeer. The million people tribe wanted to retaliate against all the rebels, the other tribal leaders and Ghadafi told them please do not kill all these people as there has already been too much bloodshed in Libya. Does this sound like a tyrant?

          2. Two days later another pro Ghadafi person was murdered, his head was cut off and placed at the door step of the security office in Dharna (he was a tribal leader) the outrage by most of the population in Dharna was expressed in demonstrations of disgust against the rebels and at the end of the day, the green flag of the legitimate government of Libya was flying. The three major tribes in Dharna proclaimed that they had had enough of the death at the hands of these rats and the Council of Shame as they call the revolution council in Benghazi.

All of these facts are true and verifiable by video and by affidavit of those present, this liar cannot prove one thing that he is saying.

The word of some paid CIA mercenary is not worth ****.

Susan believe us when we say, we have huge amounts of documentation, we are collecting it every day. We must file war crime charges against Obama, Sarkozy, Cameron, and NATO.

Question the Libyans constantly ask is: “Who are these countries to dictate who our leader should or should not be, we will pick our own leader, we ask for a vote, let us vote and then you will see who should be our leader.” NATO will never dictate to us, if they impose their puppet leader upon us, we will have another revolution and throw him out, he will not last one week.

The biggest population is Libya as you know, is in the west, the more NATO rains down destruction upon them the more they back Ghadafi. These are a strong and resilient people, they have an ancient culture and they are an endangered species. Misinformation is the tool of the West not Libya. We have nothing to gain by helping these people (except our souls). One cannot stand by and witness this type of tyranny without doing everything possible to stop it.

God Bless them, I pray they will survive this siege that is upon them.

          JoAnne

          • Hear Hear wee have nothing to gain by writing to support the people of Libya and Gaddafi but the soothing it gives to our consciences because we are troubled by what is happening and in my case, I feel responsible being in UK. We haveresearched and now I ask you? Have there been 4000 NATO aristrikes? Where they in the middle of the desert and ocean or in Tripoli? mainly.
Canyo imagine so many strikes in a city injuring less that 4000 civis and murdering less than 800 civis? , not counting the military. These strikes cause nearby buildings to fall and to fall on civis like the university of Tripoli with 5 dead and three times hurt by rockets whatever bombs warheads missiles. Glass breaks injuring especilly children and shrapnell ie bit os concrete attack childrens faces.
Do you enjoy being woken up at night, well some 100 nights of repeated bombings in an area with plenty of children is civillian torture and nothing less. It is child abuse and child murder.
Tyres are burned on Benghazi waterfront and bodies are burned so they are burned together and the stench of burning flesh is mixed with the stench of burning rubber and I wonder if you can smell peope burning over the rubber?
If pensioners have 50$ less a week to live on because we are paying compensation for our govts vile evil actions, you have yourselves to blame for doing nothing so research on my facebook if you like but use ushi rather than Ursula as it is the short form.

        • A journalist who uses phrases like “Gaddafi’s goons”, “Gaddafi thugs”, and “Gaddafi’s naive, amoral, and ignorant fans” in writing to you, Debbie Menon, is hardly objective and interested in just presenting the facts no matter whether they suit the so-called journalist’s agenda.

        • How absolutely perfect that it’s Ms Menon herself who steps in to deliver the whitewash as truth breaks out all over! S Lindauer’s piece on Lockerbie and Libya’s zionist imposed fall guy role was the first crack in the wall here after Mr Gordon Duff was hijacked by the catbird gang and we loyalists were partitioned behind their Gaza-like terror putsch. Susans’ continued presence on these pages is welcome evidence that we may yet win out over the vile CFR-PNAC shills who tried to impose their neo-stalinist techniques here.

Deb: you’ve given the game away with that faux pas.. Your desperation is showing, and it’s time to retire as gracefully as you can. The winds have shifted and are blowing your depleted uranium bs back where it belongs now…things are hotting up on the catbird’s seat/ be a good “weatherman” and figure out which way the wind blows for progdolytes like yourself.

  15. Susan,

Yesterday, I posted a link to your report on the UK’s Daily Telegraph website. It seems probable that it was read by the UK Government – because this has just appeared on the Telegraph’s website.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8564079/Libya-rebels-warned-that-Nato-will-use-force-to-stop-revenge-attacks.html

“Libya rebels warned that Nato will use force to stop revenge attacks”

“Britain has warned Libya’s rebels that Nato is prepared to used military force against the opposition if it wages armed attacks on civilians loyal to Col Muammar Gaddafi, officials said yesterday”.

    One Step at a Time.

    Thank You So Much.

    Tony

  16. Sorry about the spelling and grammar errors today. I was having a little sob.
Corrections are as follows – “the people of Libya and for Gaddafi.
“I and only a handful of readers ‘here’, originally saw through…”
Apologies for my poor self control.

  17. I have nothing but admiration for Susan, The people of Libya and of Gaddafi. I am so sad and sickened by the actions of NATO and ultimately the US, Israel and Britain. I and only a handful hear originally saw through the whole charade. Thank you to Gordon D for running this when I know he is dubious about what is happening in Libya.
I for one am sending this article to a number of politicians. NATO must answer for its crimes.

  18. Susan,

If it wasn’t because of you writing this article I would have never known what was going on in Libya – I am so shocked and saddened by all this specifically learning that the real crimes are being done by supposedly the GOOD GUYS!

How can the so called civilized western leaders allow all this to happen never stops to puzzle me.

I really do not think there is a minute chance of us human beings ever live together in peace and happiness with one another and it saddens me enormously. But at the same time I become very proud of the fact that there are caring and courageous individuals like “Susan Lindauer” who endangers her own life in order to bring the truth onto the surface so we get to know who the real bad guys are.

Keep going Susan and please keep safe, since the world needs individuals like you real badly.

    Wishing you the best.

A caring Citizen of this wild world!

  19. Joanna Moriarty is one of the only Americans left in Tripoli. And she’s highly observant sources, quick to pick up nuances. She says that tonight, after Gadhaffi’s brief promise never to surrender the Libyan people shot colorful fireworks into the skies above Tripoli. She said people are driving in their cars, honking their horns— telling NATO they will not be broken. This follows a day of near constant cluster bombing and bunker bombing.

NATO and the U.S. should sit up and take notice: These bombing campaigns are backfiring. They’re driving Libyan people away from the West. They don’t understand why NATO’s attacking them. They’re calling NATO a “terrorist organization.” NATO is losing the hearts and minds of the common people with every building that gets smashed up. We’re losing allies over there.

    • That NATO is ramping up the bombing and increasingly (and indiscriminately) punishing the civilian population suggests to me an increasing level of desperation on behalf of the NATO psychopaths.

If the display of senseless Western brutality is backfiring on the aggressors, that is a very good thing. If the majority support Gaddafi, then, as I see it, NATO at some point will have to either: 1) explicitly or implicitly admit defeat; 2) Ramp up the slaughter-from-the-air to a genocidal level; 3) Put troops on the ground and involve itself in another costly, interminable occupation/counterinsurgency.

You’d think this senseless NATO brutality would spark some dissension in NATO at some point, wouldn’t you? I wonder, aren’t there any human beings left in any of these NATO countries? If just one government of one NATO country would grow a pair and tell the perverse NATO plutocrats to go f*** themselves, we may be able to stop this beast before it starts WW3.

What the hell’s wrong with Turkey? What’s wrong with Germany? Must we endure one international “Kitty Genovese case” after another, after another? Will the bloodlust of these NATO butchers ever be satisfied?
Will the apathy and the immorality of the enablers and the bystanders ever be answered?

    • Who is ‘we’? Does NATO need allies, or disbanding?

      Salutations from Europe

  20. WE KNOW THE TRUTH!!! TICK TOCK WAR PIGS!!!

  21. Susan Lindauer,

Thanks for the report. I think the Nato bombing of Libya is completely outrageous and is a war crime in itself. Have you any information on what organisation Joanna Moriarty works for, because I have drawn a blank on a Google search. I would also be interested in any independent verfication of the human rights abuses. I am not suggesting that they are not true and am well aware of the desperate attempts particularly of Black Africans to escape the War Zones. At some point in the future, I expect the War Criminals in Western Governments will stand trial and it is important to collect and document as much information as possible.

    Tony

    • Joanna’s got video of interviews that she’s bringing back from Tripoli. It’s Arabic w/a translator, and it will be posted on youtube and by other media. It’s very powerful stuff. She’s with a Global Friendship Delegation. She’s got the same idea about documentation! And she’s happy to share. She’s just in country for the next week or so.

      • Susan,

        Thanks,

Your courage and hers put us mere men to shame.

        Tony

      • “Back” from Tripoli? She apparently lives in Tripoli.

        http://coto2.wordpress.com/2011/06/08/moriarty-nato-is-destroying-libya/

“This is an email from Tripoli resident, Joanne Moriarty, sent to Susan Lindauer earlier today, June 8, 2011, which Susan provided to COTO Report and which we are leaving unedited. ”

Joanne herself: “NATO will never dictate to us, if they impose their puppet leader upon us, we will have another revolution and throw him out, he will not last one week.”

Just in country for the next week or so, lol

    • Good question Tony. It will be great if Susan could provide more information about the source: global fact-finding delegation visiting Tripoli.

  22. Bless you Susan – its terrible news really and the disgusting violence against the women must surely be wider presented to the european countries for the people to see and hopefully create a revulsion for their governments involvement.

One is almost left speechless by the utter cynicism of the whole issue being nothing more than blatant inmorality and visciousness of psychopaths…as if it isnt enough with Palestine, Iraq & Afghan!

  23. It’s a replay of NATO’s brutal attack on Yugoslavia. When the murderous NATO cowards’ cowardly “air campaign” wasn’t defeating Milosevic’s Army (in fact was hardly touching it), the murderous NATO cowards started attacking civilians and the civilian infrastructure.

BTW I hold Russia and China and the other Arab governments as being significantly morally responsible for this senseless slaughter as well.

    • Susan Lindauer

I agree wholeheartedly! In Tripoli today NATO’s pounding civilian buildings, offices & homes & hotels. I’ve got sources on the ground who are phoning me (Hi N.S.A.) There’s no military presence in Tripoli, and yet 4,000 to 5,000 pounds are dropping all over the city. They could never get away with this, if the Arab countries spoke up.

  24. Arab countries are obsessed with women’s virtues and virginity. So to destroy the ego and morale of your enemies you attack their women. It’s that simple.

I suspect NATO may be stepping up its bombing attacks on Libya (today 4,000 – 5,000 pound bombs are dropping all over the city since 5 a.m.–not reported on CNN) , because they know they’ve got to end this war as fast as possible. The rebels uncontrollable a–holes. Their war strategy is deeply antagonizing the ordinary people, who mostly have no part in the conflict. They just want to live their lives without trouble. And the rebels are acting like thugs. They’re not showing promising leadership skills. The fact that 2,000 tribal leaders came together through the bombings, and unitedly condemned the rebels and the war shows that they are not being seduced into cooperation. They’ve made their decisions, and they’ve decided against the rebels. NATO would have to destroy the entire Tribal leadership structure to have any chance of
stopping the vendetttas that are forming right now.

    • Susan, if you need a break from the horrors in Libya, Vigilant Citizen has a video posted of some of CNN’s phony, “live” coverage during the first Gulf war, staged entirely in their studios, with their “correspondent” on the spot buffoonishly donning a gas mask, and then going to the break, still on film, where they’re horsing around and complaining about food delivery to the studio. Sort of like a Geraldo type paying cash for what we called a “turkey shoot” in Vietnam, where the bunker line would open up in a demonstration of machine guns blasting away, rifle fire on full auto, mortars going off in the background, etc., for a minute or two and all into the empty brush, so correspondents, cameramen, but mostly basecamp brass, depending on the circumstances, could have themselves filmed in the midst of a vicious “firefight.” I’m guessing the reporting from Libya and every war zone is as phony today as it’s always been.

      • Dan, you pegged that one right. What a shame about those SOBs in Viet Nam. But that’s what the cameras demand. War as entertainment. Sick. Everybody else gets killed and maimed and damaged. But the media gets to put on a show. It’s gross.

        • Today’s video is horrific beyond imagining. It proves in the most grotesque ways imaginable that we have glorified a rebel force that has behaved in the most offensive conceivable ways from day one. We are training a New Taliban to intimidate the Libyan people into submission, while the West plunders Libya’s wealth. You will never forget what you’re going to see.

Just remember that good Intelligence Assets are supposed to give you brutal honesty. We’re not supposed to hide ugly truths from decision makers. We’re supposed to make sure that you get the information that you urgently need to make the most informed decisions and choices. This truth happens to be very, very ugly. I’m sorry for it, but it would be wrong for me to spare you.

The United States needs to break ties with these Libyan rebels immediately.

    • Mrs Lindauer,

Thank you for your article. Sorry in advance for my english.

Have all the NATO’s crime reports been presented to the Office of the Prosecutor in the International Criminal Court (ICC) ? If not, it MUST be presented directly and publically in The Hague in a news or press conference to announce the publication of an accusation dossier. We know that Mr Moreno-Ocampo is politically influenced and want to only judge Al-Khadafi supposed crimes. But, within the framework of Libian case in ICC (temporal and material : “systematic and generalized crimes, commited after 15th February 2011, against civilian population”) , the crimes that you and others denounce can be investigated by the ICC judges anyway.

Two lawyers in France, Mr Vergés and Mr Dumas, want to pursue french president Sarkozy for crimes against humanity in the frame of violation of international law.

As you say, these crimes mustn’t go umpunished. Public denunciation in the ICC, now !

      Thank you again.

      • Thank you for this advice! I have forwarded your suggestion to individuals who are gathering documentation for the NATO grievance. They may be in touch with Mr. Veges and Mr. Dumas already. If not, they will be soon!

    • I take no satisfaction in saying this, but I called Gordon Duff on this at the very beggining when he cheer leaded for this war..This was no benevolent campaign by nato to get rid of a new ‘Hitler’ while protecting a mass swell of innocent civilians. The ‘rebels’ were always a tiny minority of armed religious extremists and western trainee nutters, burning down banks, police stations and government buildings.Rebel areas have regressed a thousand years, beheading innocent blacks and beating women not covered head to foot in burkas.Gaddafi’s major crime was that he had a national bank, shared oil wealth to the people, developed national infrastructure and stopped western corporate raping of his country and was uncorruptably independant.I’m really dismayed my country is giving aircover to these al queda rebel terrorist psychos.

      • However, well done VT for publishing this article,I respect that you allow all sides to be heard.

    • In Susan’s article here, her lone source Joanne Moriarty is “part of a global fact-finding delegation visiting Tripoli this week.”

…But in an earlier Susan article, she’s a resident of Tripoli.

      http://coto2.wordpress.com/2011/06/08/moriarty-nato-is-destroying-libya/

…”This is an email from Tripoli resident, Joanne Moriarty, sent to Susan Lindauer earlier today, June 8, 2011, which Susan provided to COTO Report and which we are leaving unedited. ”

      ..Reprehensible fakery.

      • That’s COTO’s mistake. Not mine or Joanne’s. She’s been in country for two or three weeks, and she’s visited Libya several times. However I believe she lives in Houston. She’s passionately opposed to the war effort. When activists embrace a cause, it often becomes “ours”, “we,” And she’s over there getting bombed, so she takes it more personally because she’s running for cover from the NATO attack.

  25. Ok but you get my point, don’t you? Absolutely NOTHING our Masters say can be taken at face value. Just because they SAY that’s what NATO’s all about, doesn’t mean that it actually is or ever was, for that matter, right?

If NATO was what they SAY it was, it would’ve gone away, just like the Warsaw pact went away. Instead of going away, it got bigger. So I think we can safely say that NATO, an instrument of the fraudulent “cold war” is itself a fraud, just like the “war on drugs” is a fraud, just like the “war on terror” is a fraud, just like everything else in our perverse Jew-controlled dictatorship is a fraud.
