Libya Coverage: “Hypocrisy of the “Left”

Libya; hypocrisy of the “left”

by Sami Jamil Jadallah

The winds of change are sweeping the Arab world. Thanks to the people of Tunisia and Egypt the Arabs are experiencing a momentous claim for new history, a new renaissance.

We have all watched their calls for democracy, freedom, rights of citizenship, accountability, transparency and limitations on tenures, where governments are servants of the people, not their masters. The winds of freedom will, sooner than later come to Palestine.  Neither Israel nor the US will be able to stop the cries for freedom and liberation. Time for the Jewish Occupation to end.

The American or for that matter the Arab “Left” must not be fooled by killers and murderers the likes of Mouamar Gaddafi and Bashar Assad, just like they were fooled by the likes of Saddam Hussein before.

The claims of being anti-imperialists, anti-colonialist, anti-Americans, anti-Western, anti-Israeli and anti-Zionists and pro-liberation and resistance to the Israeli Occupation must not be an excuse for these dictators to kill, murder, oppress, run police state and squanders hundreds of billions of the people’s wealth.

Also it must not be an excuse for those one the “left” who have stood up for liberation.  That liberation must also apply to the people and citizens of Libya and Syria and Sudan or Yemen to be free to choose their own leaders and to have their own liberations from these oppressive dictatorial regimes.

Reading through Veterans Today and other media, I had to take to the typewriter and address the likes of former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and my colleague Franklin Lamb, a man who I much admire and respect for his many years of advocacy of Palestinian rights in Lebanon. They are, sad to say, are taking up the cause of Mouamar Gaddafi in his fight against his own people. Keeping in mind, the first thing Gaddafi did was enlisting Israel to recruit African mercenaries to shoot and kill his own people.

Mouamar Gaddafi has been in power over Libya for over 41 years, running the country and its people as his own privately owned estate for his benefits and that of his family, associates and those within his own intelligence services.

Libya should be one the wealthiest countries in Africa with a population some 6 million, Libya should be no different from Dubai or for that mater Brunei with a standard of living unmatched any where in the Middle East, let alone the world. But Gaddafi and his family squandered hundreds of billions in Africa and on African corrupt dictators and of course supporting not liberation but terrorist organizations throughout the world from Ireland to Indonesia, Philippines, Italy and Germany.

The issue here is not what happened to the hundreds of billions of the Libyan people’s money, (recently it was announced that the Zionist run banking house of Goldman Sachs lost a mere $1.3 billions of the people’s money on currency speculations). But the issue here is not what happened to the hundreds of billions of the people money but Mouamar Gaddafi and his criminal enterprise he ran under the name of   “The Great Socialist People Libyan Arabs Jamahiriya”.

Mouamar Gaddafi ran a police state no different from Saddam Hussein Ba’athists Party or Bashar Assad Ba’athist Party or for that matter Kim Jong-Il of North Korea.

Gaddafi followed the East German security and informer’s model where:

…10-20 % of the Libyan population worked as spies and informers for the Revolutionary Committees, Qaddafi’s own “Communist Brigade”, where “dissent” is officially illegal and punishable according to law 73 of 1973 and where “political” conversations with foreigner are illegal punishable by 3 years of prison.

While Abu-Ghuraib prison will always remain an indictment of the George Bush occupation of Iraq, and Al-Khyiam Prison will remain forever reminder of the cruel and criminal Israeli occupation of South Lebanon,

Gaddafi was ruthless when dealing with political dissent. In 1996 he executed over 1200 prisoners in Abu Salim Prison in 1996 in less than three hours, compliments of the Gaddafi security services. One of those executed was Fouad Assad ben Omran whose family in an interview with Lindsey Hilsum of Channel 4 (March 1, 2011) reported how:

…they had gone to the prison for over a year and half [after he was killed] on regular basis to thinking he was alive and waiting two or three days to see him. “They told us he was there, but we weren’t allowed to see him”.

Mouamar Gaddafi was especially ruthless in dealing with student dissent. Mohamed al-Abdallah, the deputy secretary general of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya is quoted by Aljazeera:

In the 1970’s he publicly hung students who were marching, demonstrating demanding rights in Benghazi and in Tripoli and other places.” These stories among others are coming out now because the wall of fear and silence in the Arab world has been broken and breached forever.

Gaddafi is not the “revolutionary man” he portrayed to be. He supported the likes of war criminal Slobodan Milosevic as he engaged in the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Bosnia and he supported die hard Orthodox Serbs in their war against Bosnian Muslims.  Gaddafi was also a close friend of right wing Nazi sympathizer anti-Muslim the late Austrian politician Gorge Haider.

Gaddafi not only snuffed local dissent but took his fight against Libyan dissidents all over the world where a Libyan diplomat engaged in assassination and cold blooded murder as they did in April of 1984. I was in London on that day when the Libyan diplomat shot at 11 Libyan dissidents and killed Yvonne Fletcher the British police woman who was guarding the demonstration.

It is also well known that Gaddafi also funded and sponsored some anarchists groups such as the Red Brigade engaged in the bombing attacks on Rome and Vienna airports killing 19 and wounding 140. The bombing of the Pan Am flight over Lockerbie and the French UTA over Niger will always remain the largest mass murder committed by Mouamar Gaddafi and his regime.

The Palestinians were not an exception in Gaddafi’s erratic behavior not withstanding his claims of being a supporter of the Palestinian quest for liberation.

The Journal of Palestine Studies issue 29, winter of 97 carried a full accounting of the cruel abuse and suffering of Palestinians living and working in Libya. In retaliation for Arafat’s signing the Oslo accords Gaddafi announced in his 1st of September 1994 speech his plans to “expel” more than 30,000 Palestinians, mostly skilled and professional workers (unlike most Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan).

Gaddafi  ordered the Ministry of Labor not to renew any work permits for Palestinians, or issue new permits, or allow the return of any Palestinians with families to Libya. Thousands of Palestinians were forced to march toward the Egyptian borders where Mubarak would not allow them passage. Thousands were stranded in camps in the hot and cold Libyan Desert.

Gaddafi is quoted as saying, “All I will be doing is for their best interests, no matter how they suffer, even if they remain in the camps for years to come”.

Israel was never too far in the minds and actions of Mouamar Gaddafi were he engaged in the cultivations of relations with “Libyan” Jews as a way of opening the gate to Washington for Gaddafi and his family.

According to the Israeli publication  (Israel Today Magazine of March 4, 2011), the Gaddafi regime initiated as far back as 2007 a relationship with Libyan Jews offering large sums of money for the formalization of a “Libyan political party” to run in the 1997 national Israeli elections.

According to the Israeli publication, Meir Kahlon head of the World Organizations of Libyan Jews” told the Jerusalem Post that between 2005 and 2007 he (Kahlon) traveled to Jordan on a number of occasions to meet with Libyan officials. However these repeated meetings stopped later on.

Gaddafi uses his connections with Israel and with world Zionist groups to seek a foot hold for him in official Washington announced in 2003 his plans to abandon his programs of  “weapons of mass destruction”. This of course gave a great relief to Israel and its allies in Washington (not that Gaddafi was a serious threat to Israel) and George Bush formally ended the US trade embargo against Libya.

Tony Blair, was the first one to visit Mouamar Gaddafi in 2004 when many Western leaders all of sudden discovered the Gaddafi the statesman. The leaders of Africa, the presiding head of the Arab League heads of states and were soon invited to Rome, Paris, Spain among other nations and the UN. Gaddagi was feted as conquering a general, forgetting he was the criminal who killed Italian, French, Americans and British.

All were too keen in getting piece of the action worth tens of billions of contracts worth of weapons and industrial projects.  Sarkosy, Berlusconi, Tony Blair, George Bush, even Barack Obama all forgot the tens of thousands of Libyan executed over 41 years of his reign and forgetting the tens of thousands of people killed in his many wars in Africa and the hundreds killed in Northern Ireland.

Hillary Clinton feted Moatasem Al-Gaddafi at the State Department as late as December 21, 2009.  Of course millions of dollars to both NeoCons and Democratic public relationship shops did the trick in polishing the picture of Gaddafi’s regime, just like he is doing now with activist journalists on the Left and the Right. When it comes to money and recognition, principals always go out of the window.

Let no one be fooled, Gaddafi was a megamaniac who loved money, much of it, with tens of billions deposited in Austria, Switzerland, France, England and the US. The fact that he always appeared in public receiving officials in his modest “tents” should not hide the fact that Gaddafi and members of his family looted the country.

His children are well known to live the high and wild life style of the rich and famous, throwing wild parties in the Caribbean, in Rome, in Vienna, and in Marrakech, spending millions of dollars on artists such as Maria Carey, pop star Beyonce. The behavior of Gaddafi children was no different from the behavior of the children of Saddam Hussein’s Uday and Quasi.

Gaddafi’s contempt for his people is well know, and it goes back some 41 years and it include his “Green Book” and his “Green Revolution” and his “Jamahiriya” or people governing committee where no one is ever held accountable or in charge. Even Gaddafi himself announced on public television that he is only a “leader” and does not have an official role in government, yet he, his family and his intelligence services run every thing.  The Libyan people are not cockroaches and rats as he claimed they are.

With the first public dissent and public demonstration Gaddafi and his family members rather than opening a dialogue decided to send his army against his own people. Musrata and other towns are only a testament to the crimes he committed against his own people. Musrtata according to Kelly Moore former UN spoke person in Bosnian is quoted in the Christian Science Monitor after seeing pictures of Musrata to “ Musrata no different from Sarajevo ”

Public relations campaigns, no matter how expensive or polished, should never cover crimes committed by any leaders anywhere in the world.

  1. It’s very simple. Obama serves the jew, Obama attacks Gaddafi.

Any issues over Gaddafi is the business of only the Libyans. He is no threat to us, and I will not support the minions of Satan in their quest for establishing hell on earth.

  2. //No nation or people accept or invite foreign nation specially the US to come and destroy countries ..//
Thank you for the tip. But here we are talking about ‘globalist contractors’ (not “nations”or “people”) whose job is to soften up the public’s perceptions of ‘sovereignty’ that it is not carved in the stone and can be destroyed as long as there is one bad guy out there that we can blame it on. The same way that we cannot institutionalize dictatorship without destroying individual and civic rights, we cannot materialize one world government without destroying the notion of sovereignty of nations.
//.. some Iraqis.. conspired with Iran and the US to come and take over from Saddam ruining the country forever ..//
So it was Chalabi’s wrong address that we went to Mars instead of Moon?
//.. let the people work out their own differences ..//
It might be true then that if you press the sophists hard enough, they will complete a circle and come back to shoot themselves in the foot.

  3. Is the left good?

There are just as may so called left dictatorships as there are right ones and they are usually much bloodier.

The jews invented the communism, Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotzki, Luxemburg, Berija, etc. were all jewish, so were 80% of the first soviet government in Russia.
Battalions of jews raped the land, killed millions during the following 60 years. After WWII they invaded other east european lands, took over the government, the secret police and the killing.
Huge camps were created where millions were interned without any charges.
They brought us the Cold War, costing us billions to keep them from invading the rest of Europe.

Then the same russian jews immigrated to Israel, taking with them the so useful method of interning, suppressing and killing. Those people now run Israel, keeping tens of thousands of palestinians locked up without trials, invading neighbors to enlarge their territory and sending kill teams to eliminate political opponents.
Again, we are paying billions every year to keep them in power, menawhile americans are out of jobs, lost their homes and go hungry in bed!!

Ask your jewish neighbor or friend, do they support this kind of spending our tax dollars, are they americans with jewish religion or are they israeli agents?
Well over 50% of spies, who stole our secrets for the soviets and for Israel were and are jews with american citizernship. They are traitors, yet have special privileges.
Remember the Rosenbergs, Klaus Fuch, David Greengrass, Morris Cohen, Lona Cohen, Jacob Golos, Jakob Albam, Harry Gold, Morton Sobell and lately the many israeli spies?
Would you call someone a friend who steals you blind?
Call your congressmen and demand to stop supporting Israel.

  4. No nation or people accept or invite foreign nation specially the US to come and destroy countries.. with the exception of some Iraqis who conspired with Iran and the US to come and take over from Saddam ruining the country forever… The only thing the people of the Middle East ever ask for, for the US to stop supporting criminal dictatorship like it did in Tunis, in Egypt, in Iraq’s Saddam, in Iran of the Shah, in Yemen and in Libya..and Syria, and many others… and of course stop giving Israel the green light to invade, to shoot and kill, to blockade, to occupy.. and let the people work out their own differences..Not much to ask

  5. no one can claim the United States stood up with the people and supported democracy, certainly not in the Middle East, not in Latin or Central America. Even when it supported democracy in E. Europe it did to fight Communism. The people who are standing up to Gaddafi are not stooges of the West or imperial power… they want the help they can get to get rid of the long time serving Gaddafi… if we do not want any president no matter how good they are to serve more than 2 terms why do we expect the Libyans to accept someone who ruled them for 41 years…. it is all about the people choice, and yes tenure limits for dictators… all of them, the good, the bad and the ugly.

    • When are you going to retire this grotesque argument that Osama Ben Laden is a bad person, lets destroy Afghanistan; Saddam is a bad person, lets destroy Iraq; Taleban are bad people, lets destroy Pakistan; Assad is a bad person, lets destroy Syria; Gaddafi is a bad person, lets destroy Libya; Ahmadinejad (or the next president) is a bad person, lets destroy Iran ..? When the destruction of the whole concept of nationhood and sovereignty becomes mundane and accepted fact of life? Is that not what they call one world government? What do they call the employees of this one world government in the cyberspace department?

  6. freedom and democracy (whatever this means and is worth – see u.s.a.) do not come from the west and its created “rebels”.

god bless qadhdhafi against the stooge “rebels” and the raping, stealing, thug west.

  7. Every one wants a piece of the OIL in the Middle East. America and IS—RA—HELL the most…….criminals and corruption.

  8. VT has had two correspondents in Libya. One is with Gaddafi, staying in a Tripoli hotel. The other was murdered by Gaddafi.
One is a hero, and it sure as hell isn’t the one eating the lobster and drinking French wine.

    • Well, as with any crime attributed to Muammar Gaddafi, I’d be glad if you would point to some compelling evidence that Gaddafi is complicit in the crime.

For most accusations against Gaddafi there is not even evidence that the alleged crime took place.

To this date, I’ve heard about thousands of deaths of dissidents in the 70s and the 90s. We’ve all heard of thousands killed in or around Benghazi in February this year. Why hasn’t the NTC shown the evidence for either?

Until that happens, the condemnations are based on hearsay and prejudice. A poor show as it is, it’s even worse given our great power to find and disseminate information and our self-image as sophisticated and honest people.

  9. Daffy
Your entire premise is based on the belief that Obama, NATO, Al Qaeda and the CIA are plotting with the oil companies against Gaddafi, Israel, Bush, Blair and Haliburton and British Petroleum.
Good luck with this kind of logic.

  10. This argument that Gaddafi is bad for Libya, lets destroy Libya, is the moral, legal, and intelligent equivalent of a pretending friend smashing a fly on someone’s forehead with a huge rock.

  11. I quote mr. Jadallah:

‘My only issue is with Gaddafi as long time leader and his and his family use and abuse of Libya as his own private domain.’

Now this argument is weak, I would say, because the USA ‘use and abuse’ the Arab world, as their ‘own private domain.’ That’s why they support zionist terrorism against the Palestinian population, that’s why they illegally invaded Iraq, which ended in the killing of more than a million Iraqi citizens, the cutting up of the country into ethnically cleansed territories, and the creating of more than 2 million Iraqi refugees, that’s why they pick out gadaffi and support the saudi and bahreini regimes. Mr. Jadallah, who do you think you will convince with your article?

  12. The pathetic picture on top shows ans says it all. Emma Lazarus’ poem with these words:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

And with these words the Indian genocide seemed to be legitimized, as well as the occupation of Hawaii, Guam, and the killing of hundreds of thousands of citizens in the Phillipines, when they opposed this modern form of colonialism. About the motives behind the American expansionism the eminent American historian, by no means a radical at all, William Appleman Williams, pointed out a series of important facts which mister Jadallah conveniently seems to overlook. These facts should be the background of any discussion about violent intervention. Concerning the American population just before World War I Williams wrote:

‘They grew ever more aware that… economic power exercised disproportionate political influence – directly by organized pressure on elected representatives and indirectly by the broad political and social consequences of economic decisions. As one American of the time expressed it, “The dollar votes more times than the man.” […] The frontier interpretation of American history, having been modernized to fit an industrial society, was once again becoming an article of faith… American increasingly considered themselves once more on the move to “extend the area of freedom.” […] An increasing number of foreigners was aware for example, that political and social democracy in the United States were largely limited to white Anglo-Saxons. When transferred to the world scene, those color and ethnic restrictions became even more apparent. Democracy tended in practice to be replaced by an outlook summarized in the familiar phrase about the white man’s burden. That approach was based on the quite different thesis that colored people were somehow never ready for democracy and self-government. It was possible, of course, to defend various limitations on demcracy and representative government on logical as well as historical and practical grounds. Indeed, a very great deal of intellectual and emotional energy was invested in that effort by Americans, as well as by Europeans with colonial empires to defend. Such arguments were not very strong, however, because political democracy had begun, even in the white Western countries, as a process in which only a small segment of the adult population participated. Colored peoples pointed out, quite plausibly, that their societies were already structured for such a form of democracy. And when, as was the case with American liberalism, it was further implied, if not vehemently asserted, that democracy really worked only for white, Angelo-Saxon, Protestant Christians, the appeal of democracy suffered even more. For this argument led rather rapidly to the conclusion that even at best democracy meant little more than the modification of colonialism in the direction of less harsh protectorates or open-door imperialism… Colonial societies began to realize that American anticolonialism neither implied nor offered freedom from extensive and intensive foreign influence… At best, Wilson’s actions were in keeping with the principles of a moralistic and paternalistic open-door imperialism. At worst, he intervened with force in the affairs of other nations… And even though some improvements did result from the mandate system where it was applied, that approach was characterized by minimum changes in the existing pattern of colonialism. Taken seriously, a commitment to the principle of self-determination means a policy of standing aside for peoples to make their own choices, economic as well as political and cultural. It is based on a willingness to live and let live – a broad tolerance for other peoples’ preferences and a willingness, if the opportunity is offered, to help them achieve their own goals in their own fashion. It is the philosophy of an integrated personality, and it might be defined as the foreign policy of a mature society. Though it avowed this principle, the actions of America in the realm of foreign affairs did not follow this pattern. Hence it was not surprising, as Wilson’s actions became apparent, that many peoples in the world felt misled by Wilson’s slogans about self-determination. It was one thing to shape one’s own culture, but quite another to be pushed aside while others haggled over ethnic statistics and then drew lines on a map… Wilson’s liberal practice was not in keeping with his liberal principles. This became even more apparent as he began to reveal his ideals about a Laegue of Nations. That program amounted to a direct an almost literal application of the principles of America’s domestic liberalism to the world at large. The League of Nations became the state, and its function was to maintain order and enforce the rules of the game at the international level. Given such security, the national pursuit of self-interest would, according to the doctrine of a harmony of interests, produce peace and prosperity throughout the world… by establishing an oligopoly of power, and formalizing it in an unconditional guarantee of “the territorial integrity and existing political independence” of the nations admitted to the League (on criteria prescribed by the oligolpoly itself), Wilson’s proposal destroyed the possibility of free competition. And it was precisely on this point that the League of Nations was attacked by some American liberals themselves, as well as by radicals and conservatives in the United States and throughout the world… Left-wing liberalism developed from the same philosophy of natural law which classical liberalism cited as the sanction for its own program… they argued that certain institutions, particularly that of private property in its large, concentrated, and consolidated forms, prevented the natural harmony from emerging from the free interplay of individuals pursuing their self-interst. That analysis led the heretics to the conclusion that it was necessary to make structural changes in the existing society before the working of natural law could produce the general welfare. In sharp contrast, Wilson (and the conservatives) would support nothing more than a “slow process of reform” in which they saw no need, and most certainly had no intention, of shaking the foundations of the status quo… For their part, the radicals started from a fundamentally different premise. They denied the existence – save perhaps in some mythical past – of a natural harmony of interests. They held that conflict was the essence of life and that it would never end short of death… The radicals… denied the validity of the liberals’ market economy. They judged it neither fair nor truly efficient. They advocated instead the idea of planned production for use and welfare. To accomplish this, they proposed that the government should take title to resources and direct the production of goods and services for all the society on an equitable basis. Such economic decisions would not only facilitate development in other areas of life, they would also become the stuff of politics, and in that fashion politics would once again relevant and meaningful to the individual and the group, but would end the struggle for raw existence and hence free men for personal and cultural development… As for color or ethnic origens, they denied the validity of such criteria as the basis of any decision, an attitude that enabled them to avoid Wilson’s contradiction between self-determination and nationality and the exclusiveness of his Protestant Christianity and Anglo-Saxonism. In this way, radicals appealed to all men across all existing – or proposed – boundaries. Their approach to self-determination gave the radicals a double-edged weapon against colonialism and the less overt forms of imperial expansion such as the Open Door Policy. For by asserting the right to self-determination, they identified themselves with anticolonialism… Thus they offered leadership to those who wished to end formal colonialism, as well as to others who sought to assert their full sovereignity against sphered of influence and similar restrictions established under the Open Door Policy… it offers considerable insight into the reasons why American leasders persistently interpreted political and social unrest throughout the world as a consequence of the Bolshevik Revolution, and why they steadily expanded the nation’s overseas commitments beyond any rational calculation (even by the axioms of their expansionist Weltanschauung) of the country’s resources… Fundamentally, and from the outset, American leaders were for many, many years more afraid of the implicit and indirect challenge of the revolution than they were of the actual power of the Sovjet Union… they were so uneasy about what President Wilson called the “general feeling of revolt” against the existing order, and about the increasing intensity of that dissatisfaction. The Bolshevik Revolution became in their minds the symbol of all the revolutions that grew out ot that discontent. And that is perhaps the crucial insight into the tragedy of American diplomacy. Those other specific and general revolutions would havfe continued and reached their climaxes even if the Bolsheviks had never seized power in Russia. They were revolutions that had been fed and sustained by the policies of the West itself for more than a century. American policy was fundamentally no more than a sophisticated version of those same policies… Wilson’s… expansionist philosophy of history, his crusading zeal and his nationalism – which also were integral parts of his liberalism – prompted him to oppose the revolutions as barricades on America’s road to domestic well-being and world leadership. The tragedy was defined by his attempt to sesove the dilemma by preserving and extending democracy through a policy of open-door expansion.’

Now mr. Jadallah, try to answer the question why all American administrations since 1967 have supported the violations of international law by the zionist regimes. Try to answer this with the above in mind. Remember, if you invite a foreigner into your house to clean up the mess, be sure you know what his history is.

  13. I simply do not believe the mission of NATO in Libya as humanitarian designed to protect the people from Gaddafi. NATO and NATO powers have more important business and interests than the people of Libya. Why intervene now when Gaddafi been in business and doing same thing for 41 years. NATO wants to fleece the Libyan national funds, wants to secure its foothold as a military power on the “south”. One need to question why NATO did not intervene in Gaza when Israel with the support of the US was bounding the hell out of Gaza using all the new and most advanced technology to kill and destroy the most? Why NATO does not intervene now and force open the Sea Port of Gaza under international supervision. No one buy the “humanitarian” nature of NATO action in Libya… not even the people themselves… My only issue is with Gaddafi as long time leader and his and his family use and abuse of Libya as his own private domain.

  14. “I thank all those who expressed opinions on this posting and what we need more than any thing else, is to have a forum where ideas and opinions are discussed, shared and argued for an against… something that we lack in main stream media…”
heh he heh…cute Sami, cut…now can we cut to the chase? Which way to the forum?

“Today Turkey announced it is on the side of the people… Turkey and Turkish leadership have lots of respect among Arabs…”
Today, Sami, Turkey, as directed by the newly reelected AKP, has just announced it’s final abandonment of neutrality in the struggle of middle eastern peoples to find and protect an identity outside of that alloted them by the zionist power bloc. Seduced by NATO, bullied by the frankist\sabbatean establishment which hijacked the postOttoman period, bribed by the Eurocrat lackeys which dance to tel avivs tunes, Turkey and Greece together, old enemies bound now inextricably by their allegiance to evil, have retarded the new GAZA FLOTILLA’s progress upon the instructions of their Mossad masters….
Gaddaffi, in contrast, has refused to bend. This remarkable defiance of the colossus we can simply term ZOG is stunning and admirable….Sryia too has chosen to stay to course against the bullyboy GOLEM. Long after your cheap sellout is forgotten, the sacrifices of these middle eastern states in the cause of freedom for US ALL from servitude wil be indelibly etched in the annals of human history as the turning of the tide.
You respect diversity of opinion sir? That is what we all fight for? Then I dare you to publish this posting uncensored, and show more courage and honesty than your colleagues here. THE WHOLE WORLDS WATCHING.

    sami,

did it ever occur to you that after more than 5 centuries of christian, western colonialism/imperialism which made us white folks rich and the coloured peoples poor and powerless that educated individuals like me, a journalist of 63 years old who has travelled extensively thorugh the world to see the results of our power, does not believe in the socalled humanitarian interventions of my own people?

please, young man, don’t be so naief. grow up, otherwise you will spill still more blood, and in the first place of your own people, the most powerless. the west is the best and has been the perpetrators of auschwitz and hiroshima. don’t forget that, the white christians, we, are able to do anything. the winds of change? you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, so start using your eyes and your brains.

You state that: ‘The winds of change are sweeping the Arab world. Thanks to the people of Tunisia and Egypt the Arabs are experiencing a momentous claim for new history, a new renaissance.’

This is propaganda. You and I don’t know where the winds of change will take the arab people. one thing is sure: the chance of a massacre is huge. what will happen afterwards we don’t know, the french revolution ended in napoleonic wars, the russian revolution ended in the gulag, the american revolution ended in vietnam and iraq. so please lower your voice and your expectations. the real revolution in the arab world did not even begin.

Sam….the diversity of opinion thing? We still waiting!

  17. It is not because Gaddafi is an ass that we should be bombing Libya. There is no such thing as an imperialist liberator. This tribal mess is not our concern. Those opposed to Gaddafi are the same scum.

  19. I thank all those who expressed opinions on this posting and what we need more than any thing else, is to have a forum where ideas and opinions are discussed, shared and argued for an against… something that we lack in main stream media… Also let us not blame Israel or the Zionists for every thing… it is not right and not fair… we must look at Arab leadership independent of their claims of Israeli resistance… they never won wars and their armies are only used to keep them in power and allow them to loot the country. Gaddafi sent his hundreds of billions of dollars and deposited these in the corrupt financial systems of Wall Street. Keep in mind that Gaddafi was received by many world leaders in their own capitals only few months ago. People have an absolute right to chose… at least we try to defend the people’s right to speak up… something we in the US have complained about… the internet gave this forum, which was denied to all of us by the likes of NY Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, etc… yes, let us celebrate the freedom to speak and to write…thanks for all those who responded negatively or positive to this posting… at least we are generating debate.. the truth will always comes out… sooner than later..

  21. dear admin

    please take last (corrected)version:
in th the first version the not was missing

Nevertheless, and I appreciate your last remarks concerning your position that Nato or any country
should NOT get a mandat to bomb Libya, I think Gaddafi is targeted because he’s an obstacle for the leaders
because he refused to be a part of their system(IWF, worldbank, Africom…).

  22. Dear Sami Jadallah,
it’s a hard job you’ve done writing this article and it takes a lot to point out the wrongs in Gaddafi’s leadership when most of the left lefties (as me) look in the other direction.

I read a lot about the so called freedom fighters and cruel stories about their barabarism, and about the kabale going in in Libya since decades and so i’ve got still some excuses for the tight regime that needs to be protected against foreign undercover operations with support from hired libyans that may not
see how they are used for foreign goals.

But I must admit that, after reading the article, it changed a little and I guess Gaddafi did much more than necessary to fight against this foreign influence.
(his role in holding back immigrants is one of my concerns. When I read about the negotiations
with EU-members, he played a keyrole in their planning, FRONTEX was mostly built on
his support and he was payed some hundred million dollars, to keep the subsaharean people from
    the fortress Europe).

Thanks for your courage to put some things on the table, it doesn’t make the things easier,
but I guess in the long run it’s better to destroy some myths than to walk in the fog.

  24. First, I do not accept the idea that every thing that has to do with the Middle East or Arab dictators is a conspiracy, let alone an Israeli-Zionist conspiracy at that. I do no support the role of NATO or for that matter, I do not believe there is a right for any country whether the US or NATO to invade any Arab country under any pretext. Of course NATO is not doing it for the good of the people.. they are doing it for their own selfish reasons. The issue I have here is with Mouamar Gaddafi, his rule of 41 years over Libya, the role of his family in running Libya. I for one do not watch any of the American news channels, not CNN, or NBC or CBS. However my source of information are mostly European and of course Arabic news channel. For the Gaddafi to use his army to quash peaceful protests shows his contempt for the people. Gaddafi is a façade of something very evil. He like Saddam, Assad, Mubarak, Bin Ali all have used their “intelligence services” to stay in power. The people of the Middle East wants to have a democracy and accountable government even if they make mistakes in selecting their leaders, but no leader should stay for ever. When hundred of thousands risk their lives to go to the street to call for regime change, it speaks something of the people. Any one who supports Gaddafi must go and ask the tens of thousands of families who lost loved ones. Just listening to Gaddafi and his son and how they describe the people is more than enough for them to leave and have no rights to live in a country like Libya.
As for the different point of view on VT, this is what every one expects and we all should keep and fight for… having different point of views even if we disagree with. There are very few publications these days that has varying views on key issues. No reason to label any one we disagree with as committing treason…the focuses should be Gaddafi and his rule over Libya… and the rights of the people to liberty and freedom…Today Turkey announced it is on the side of the people… Turkey and Turkish leadership have lots of respect among Arabs…

    • I agree with you on the US and NATO. I’m not so sure the Arab Spring is about Democracy. It seems to be more about Justice and hope. Thanks for the post. It is important to remember that the enemy of your enemy is not automatically your friend.

    • just the things that are. no one says “every thing”.

  25. Sami takes shillin for da Man to new heights here. The more vemonously this zio-disinfo outfit disses anybody & everybody who does not toe the AIPAC\PNAC line, the more their desperation show…smells to me like a funding cut off threat has emerged. No more Mosselle wine country trips?

  26. All Government’s are CRIMINAL. we have one right here in the good old USA. all governments represent themselves for what they are barbarians. take advantgage of their people, steal money and people blind. look at the World Economies. all in shambles. we in the world have the bastard Jew Bankers to thank for stealing the world blind. ( THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT. GREED SCUM FOR MONEY.) The Banking System is full of corrupt ASS-HOLE’S.

  27. The murder of Yvonne Fletcher was an israeli false flag. Much of your article is zio-propaganda-crap, and the sources you cite remind me of the garbage reported by that infamous Kuwaiti ambassador’s daughter. Suggest you crawl under the same rock as Brendon Peck, Tasbeeh Herwees, and GD himself.

  28. Gaddafi is no Angle for sure but who is? The US? NATO? This invasion of Libya has nothing to do with the Libyan people and if anyone thinks it does I have some water front property to sell them on Mars. This report is nothing but a hit piece in support of everything wrong in the world today and that is the attitude you are with us (the dollar-petro-dollar)or your with the terrorist. It’s just down right pathetic. As far as Muammar Gaddafi goes he has done more for his people and country than any F-n politician has ever thought about doing for ours here in the U.S. Talk about hypocrisy and double think as we pursue an empire that will never be and at a rate of 90% civilians as collateral damage and destroying the world with DU (depleted uranium) with no end in sight to war and misery and a track record of murder and mayhem since the day of the Indians and we are talking about how bad Gaddafi is? We better start talking about what the hell we are going to do when the whole world turns on us (the US-Israel) because this is the future we are creating. Does anyone have their feet on the ground out there? I have taken a look in the mirror has anyone else? I am sad to say that I agree with Gaddafi when he said the US is the new Nazis, just take a hard look and what do you see? Any future for your children or theirs here on the path we are on? This is what we should be thinking about. Sad state of affairs indeed…

  29. true, safety and security are important to citizens and state, but let us not confuse the need for safety and the needs for freedom and liberty. Gaddafi ran Libya as an absolute dictator with above any accountability for many of his actions and misdeeds that caused Libyans dearly… hundreds of billions simply wasted and unaccounted for, family that lives the life style of pop start with tens of millions at its disposal, this people’s money. No term limit for tenure for these political dictators… that is the issue I have.. All government officials including heads of states must be accountable to the people, who have the absolute rights to vote them in and vote them out… let the people make mistakes with their choice like we did with George Bush, but he is not around any more…

    • Is that kool-aid good Jadallah? I have to laugh at anyone who uses the “vote ‘em out” line. Ever hear of electronic voting machines? I do believe the next president has been selected and I put the chance of even having elections in 2012 at less than fifty-fifty. Many elections around the US for two-hundred years have been rigged. Chicago being one particularly notorious example. This country is just as corrupt as anywhere in the world. It’s just that we have a reputation to uphold.

  30. I spent 3 years of my life in Libya. Libya was very save country. I made about 300000km driving my car and I didn’t face any problems.

  31. I have always deemed myself, a leftist, a liberal and stood by this view and very proud of it. However I always have a problem with the left when it comes to taking up issues with so called leaders of the “left” such as Saddam, Assad, Castro, Chevez, Arafat, Ortega, If we are to be consistent with and live up to our ideal, then we must speak up against the wrongs these leaders commit. The fact they claim to be anti-imperialists does not give cart blanch to do what they want in suppressing liberties, freedoms of speech and associations, being held accountable to the people and certainly it does not give them a life time tenure….

    • It’s not for *you* to decide whether Chavez should rule Venezuela or Castro Cuba. What standing do you have to judge their fitness for the job? Where does your moral authority come from? The same place the Jews get their superior “moral authority” from, apparently.

You say: “The fact they claim to be anti-imperialists does not give cart blanch to do what they want in suppressing liberties, freedoms of speech and associations, being held accountable to the people and certainly it does not give them a life time tenure….”

Do you go around involving yourself in your neighbors’ affairs, too? “Well, Sally shouldn’t be married to Bob because he’s a complete moron?” Why not let Sally decide if she should stay with Bob? How did it get to be your business?

Although it’s not my place to judge any foreigh rulers and pronounce them “good” or “bad” as I arbitrarily decide, being that you insist, I will say this: How can you blame any ruler of any country anywhere who’s trying to remain independent, for “suppressing liberty”, for example, when the USraeli Empire is out to get them and smash their country and take away their independence? Take Castro for example. They’ve tried to kill him how many times now? They’ve tried an an invasion, they’ve tried economic war, they’ve sponsored terrorism against Cuba, they’ve done everything under the sun to roll back the Cuban revolution. In light of all this, you’re going to sit there and blame Castro for reacting to it?

Look what happened in the U.S. We had one major “terrorist attack” (9/11), and as a result of that one attack, all of our rights are gone, our country is bankrupt and imploding politically, morally and economically. Does Castro give himself the authority to arbitrarily start wars and kil millions of people? Does Castro put Jews ahead of his own people? Maybe you should shut your mouth and open your eyes and stop talkin’ Jew nonsense.

    • “Saddam, Assad, Castro, Chevez, Arafat, Ortega” and i add qadafi

leaders of the left? only castro and chavez and ortega fit there.

saddam, asad, were/are attacked by vicious dogs. arafat, faults, was fighting for his people.

jadallah, get a job and stop working for the zionist-imperialists.

all above have done more to help better the lives of all their people unlike the usa which helps the bloodsucking 1%.

  32. Sami Jamil Jadallah

You lost your credibility when you refer to Milosovic as a war criminal. He was murdered because there was no possible way he was going to be found guilty on the evidence. Former Canadian Ambassador to Yugoslavia, James Bisset, testified on behalf of Milosovic.
    http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=591

All leaders of countries are tyrants in their own way, some more obvious than others. Gaddafi is no saint, but what he has accomplished in raising the living standards in Libya puts him well ahead of any of the leaders of the NATO countries which have dragged the living standards of their populations downwards during the past 40 years.

    • Very good points.

    • “Gaddafi is no saint but…”

I’ve talked with Libyans who refer to him as a saint. Should I tell them that Gaddafi isn’t a saint “actually”? Nonsense – there are no objective criteria for sainthood. Whether somebody is a saint or not completely depends on one’s viewpoint.

Albert Schweitzer said “You don’t have to be an angel in order to be a saint.” In other words, you don’t have to be perfect to attain what is needed for ‘sainthood’. Check some saints’ biographies and you’ll see a mass of evidence for it. The quote also says: Don’t be falsely modest about your spiritual ambitions.

Google search reveals hundreds of instances of people saying “Gaddafi is no saint.” It shows how otherwise sensible people can become blind to logic, culturally intolerant, and patronizing while in complete ignorance of the subject.

  33. Whether or not Gaddafi should rule Libya or is a matter for the Libyan people to decide, not for you or Gordon Duff or NATO. How is it *you* have standing to judge Gaddafi? Once you become judge, jury and executioner, where do you stop? NATO is now in a bind. It’s become just like Vietnam and Yugoslavia. Uninhibited by law, reason or moral compunction, how many people will now have to die for the sake of the “credibility” of the aggressors?

Having made the wrong “moral” decision for the wrong reason (obviously), NATO will now have to keep escalating, killing more and more people indiscriminately. Who appointed NATO the general arbiter of the value of human life? You fool you, don’t you see that you cannot achieve “good” by doing evil?

  34. Always remember that nothing is ever what it seems. We see what we are supposed to see so as to allow the parasites enough room to keep implementing their rotten plans. And after all the destruction and havoc these psychotics create it will all fall apart anyway.

I am very surprised that after all this time you would fall for the idea that the “left” represents freedom. It does not. It feeds into ego and pride, and is a willing or unwitting tool of the very same degenerates who are making this planet uninhabitable. It promotes a false positive, an illusion of freedom, when all the left really does is destroy authority and social structures leaving a vacuum for the parasites.

Every leftist society started out with the freedom and equality bunk only to end up in shakles and poverty, and tormented by domestic and foreign sadists. Violent upheavals don’t just occur, they are set and triggered by mentally ill pupeteers who spend long stretches of time planning for a bursts of violence goading the target populace to do their dirty work for them.

Look up this name — Maurice Gomberg — and study the map published in early 1942, and see if the carnage and its aftermath was not carefully planned. All the street rats who planned that war and snuffed out millions of lives in a matter of a few years were leftists, although the leftists we see ( street theater protests, academics, media, arts, etc., ) generally think of themselves as pacifists. They are not. They are pawns whose job it is to erode structure.

    They are so stupid.

    • Anonymous Smith

Thank you, Ann, for speaking the truth.

Let’s not forget that the Christians are also intimately involved in the atrocities that are now unfolding all over the globe, as well as the destruction of the US…up to their eyeballs in it!

      • I do not understand your response.

I was surprised that the writer would see leftists as anything other than destructive. But perhaps he is more generous than I, for I no longer even give them the benefit of the doubt.

I made no mention of any ethnicity or creed, for beautiful leftist lies are open and welcoming to all. Until they get what they want and the mask drops to reveal them for the criminally depraved sociopaths they are.

But you fit in very well with leftists for you condemn an entire demographic without sifting through the complex facts. You know who else took great delight in destroying Christians? The French Revolutionaries–remember them? They promised liberty/ equality/ brotherhood and all sorts of freebies if people would only help them get rid of the big, bad Monarchs and that dour no-fun Church.

So they did and got a slaughter house instead. Surprise, surprise. In addition to the regular public murder ceremony, they defiled Notre Dame in the most depraved way, for it represented what they feared most and still do. Would you have been one of those assisting them?

Religion is a direct threat to leftists, marxists, and their ilk for it contradicts everything they promote. When you degrade and entire group on the basis of creed you only assist the vermin who are roaming the world seeking an opening to insert trouble.

You have taken leftist bait. Spit it out before it rots your mind.

        • Anonymous Smith

Christians, in general, are the most worthless group of do-nothings on the planet…Not once, in over 2,000 years, have Christian leaders ever said to themselves: “Maybe we should use some of the Trillions of $$$ we have collected from the ignorant peasantry to investigate into these Satanic forces and keep ourselves abreast of their evil activities!” Instead they have passively (willfully?) watched as each and every “Christian” Nation has been systematically ruined by the Jews – always playing the innocent victim of the “legions of Satan.”

Ahh, but there are many 10′s of millions of Christians who have been/are actively, consciously, and eagerly participating with their Jewish masters in an effort to create “Hell on Earth” because they ignorantly believe that they can trigger the ‘Second Coming’ by their own hand. They must/will be held accountable for their actions.

We will sift through the facts, all right…oh, you better believe we will do that!

          • And you are one of the most ignorant, ill-read, venomous posters ever to address me. Henceforth expect no reply from me, for you are in dire need of a rabies shot and a mountain of reading.

And as for that “we” part, you and your “we” friends would be well advised to begin cleaning up your own bad manners.

          • Just because someone says they’re a “Christian” doesn’t mean that they are. A “Christian” is defined by what he personally does (or doesn’t) do, not by just the words he speaks.

We live in a society where EVERYTHING is a fraud. Everything from our politics to our History to our money to all of our institutions…and our religious institutions are no exception.

If most of us really were “Christians” we wouldn’t be taking orders from Satan’s little helpers, and we wouldn’t be in this mess.

    • To Jadallah – and Gordon Duff, who should do a FURTHER “update”… Like Palin and Bachmann, Jewish-American “writer” Ann (Markowitz) Marlowe, LOVES Israel. Her HUDSON INSITUTUTE has long been one of the most radid neoconseravative (mostly Jewish run) pro-Israel outfits defending and advancing Israel’s agendas. Do an extensive Google search as I did. Both of you SHOULD examine the background and biases of this Markowitz “source” whose “news” you both appear to “lustfully” swallow, before flippantly smearing the motives of Lamb, McKinney, Lendman and others not “in love” with the so-called “freedom fighting rebels.” Markowitz is one of biggest liars for the neoconservatives – and Israel.
I ask again, WHAT MAJOR AMERICAN “NEWS” PRINT-MEDIA and TV NETWORKS are LYING FOR Gaddafi? I don’t any. Please don’t say: in Russia (and a few in Israe!).

  35. if you wanna make an oppressed civilian run to protect the oppressor just bomb his/her country. Bombing Lybia is the worst possible thing NATO could have done. It has driven Gaddaffi to new hights and those who have suffered under him will not embrace defending him. Attacking Gaddaffi is the same as attacking Lybia itself to these people.

if NATO really wanted to help the people there are far better ways of doing it.

  37. Watching this it would seem that the Libyan people whom Gaddafi care nothing about, care a great deal about him – helped by NATO’s bombs of democracy, to re-image him into a latter day Omar Mukhtar. (The Lion Of The Desert).

    http://alturl.com/gg9s8

Some oppose NATO and imperialism no matter who it assaults

    • Have we found out when America’s Africom is moving its base to Libya? Gaddafi was against America setting up a base on African soil, this could be why he is being taken out.

Also, apparently the mint where the Libya’s currency is made has been bombed into the ground.

  38. That Gaddafi was set up and supported by the zionists is no surprise, but remember, so too is NATO. This is the standard zionist modus operendi. Manufacture a conflict with terrorism or false flag “incidents”, then finance and support BOTH sides of that conflict in order to inflict as much carnage as possible. I read Mr. Lamb’s piece and this one as well. You are BOTH right. Libyans ARE fighting for their freedom from the NATO bombings, as Mr. Lamb says, but they are also fed up with the zionist tool named Gaddafi.

In short, the zionists have won. Much like here in America. The zionists run the financial system, the justice system, the government, Congress and both political parties. Their goal is to keep us fighting each other while we ignore the REAL criminals, murderers, thieves and thugs who pull the strings backstage.
