Government Needs to Focus on Domestic Interests

by Debrah McFarlane

The United States has finally decided to withhold aid from Pakistan. This is a decision that should have been made years ago. I have already argued that it is utterly ludicrous for the US to be providing military aid to a country that evidently had no interests in working with the US government. It is time the United States realize that throwing money at countries in the form of aid will not deter them from having coexisting monetary relationships with terrorists.

The fact that Osama Bin Laden was living next to a military installation in Pakistan without the country alerting the US should be proof enough that the only relationship that existed between the US and Pakistan was monetary. How many other countries are the US government giving milions of dollars in aid to based on an unproven working relationship? How many other countries should not be getting monetary aid? The government needs to tackle these issues and withdraw unnecessary monetary aid and utilize in the US economy instead of fighting over budget, and threatening to cut medicare, medicaid, veterans benefits, social security, and educational budgets.

However, I am currently convince that we do not have too “smart” of a government at the moment. The United States educational rating is almost at the bottom of the 183 countries worldwide and it may be due to the fact that we are so concerned with rescuing other countries, we fail to notice the problems that are threatening the continuation of the US as a superpower. It is time that the US implement a program to reassess its relationship with countries that are receiving aid on an annual basis. The countries that fail to live up to contractual agreements and expectations should not receive aid until they comply with whatever agreements are intially made. Relationships have to be assessed to determine whether they are indeed still viable for the purposes they were created. Money should never be the main reason for establishing a working relationship with a country.

Just as there are people who will do anything for money, there are countries that will form faux alliances in order to recieve aid to strengthen their economy, while depleting the resources in the United States. The United States infrastructure is rather fragile at this point and focusing on overseas interests instead of strengthening the US economy will result in continued lack of jobs and struggling families. Any foucus on overseas interests should be on what aid to cut from which country. We need to bring back some of the US dollar to the US and rescue the enconomy and the people who are awaiting the return of a properous enconomy with abundant job opportunities.

In case the government has not been paying any attention to the struggles of the people, there have been countless numbers of families who have been unemployed since 2007. It is time that foreign interests become second priority to domestic interests, at least until the economy is back on track. If the government fail to acknowledge the domestic interests as priority, over the next couple of years, we will have only succeeded in creating a higher percentage of working poor. In essence, Congress needs to stop the childish skirmishes and name calling and place the American people ahead of their own interests. We have too many millionaires in Congress with self-serving interests, and too many poor Americans at their mercies.

  1. This is how scary it is in Florida. The only investigators in the entire state that were actually doing something to protect Florida homeowners are now gone…

We have been waiting for this story to break in the press before we discussed it. Now that it is out we will be providing more details on what went down here.

These women worked on these investigations intensely for over a year but shortly after Bondi came into office, they were fired…

More to come, but for now, from the Palm Beach Post…
Foreclosure fraud investigators forced out at attorney general’s office

    By Kimberly Miller

A lead foreclosure fraud investigator for the state said she and a colleague were forced to resign from the Florida attorney general’s office, unexpectedly ending their nearly yearlong pursuit to hold law firms and banks accountable.

Former Assistant Attorney General Theresa Edwards and colleague June Clarkson had been investigating the state’s so-called “foreclosure mills,” uncovering evidence of legal malpractice that also implicated banks and loan servicers.

Despite positive performance evaluations, Edwards said the two were told during a meeting with their supervisor in late May to give up their jobs voluntarily or be let go. Edwards said no reason was given for the move.

“It all happened very abruptly,” said Edwards, who had worked in the attorney general’s office for about three years.

The foreclosure investigations were launched under former Attorney General Bill McCollum, but Edwards said she sensed changes were coming under Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“I think they wanted to put people in there that were more in line with their thinking,” Edwards said.

Bondi’s press secretary said Tuesday that foreclosure investigations are still open and are being personally led or supervised by Division Director Richard Lawson.

“The division has made these investigations a top priority and will continue to actively pursue all of our investigations into foreclosure law firms,” said Jennifer Krell Davis.

    • To tell you the truth, I currently reside in Florida and would not recommend anyone to move to this State unless absolutely necessary. Foreclosures are just ridiculous, jobs are nonexistent, and Governor Rick Scott has already cut 75% of the education budget, among other things. Additionally, if you file unemployment, you cannot receive it without volunteering your time to a volunteer organization. Many Floridians are in Florida because they do not possess the economic means to move elsewhere. The State will not become any better after Governor Rick Scott leaves office. Then again, this was to be expected because Florida was not the shinning beacon of opportunity before the recession.

      • Debrah, I know you’re a bit down on Florida but just think how cool it is that you and your fellow Floridians and Americans provide $ 10 billion per year in aid and contracts to Israel. The un-invited euro-settlers in the West Bank and the oppression of the Gaza concentration camp is such a lovely way to honor your taxpayer contribution a country halfway around the world that is NOT part of the USA (a geographical reference for those readers who have no clue what constitutes the USA)

I mean really, screw your Floridian children’s education or your people’s jobs. Who cares about your tribe! L’Chaim!

Come on! The collective support of foreigners who laugh behind your back all the way to zionist bank while your own tribe at home suffers the indignity of loss of social services, eduction, and quality employment is so outstanding!

        So be proud!

I am sure some euro-zionist in a kibbutz halfway round the world appreciates the insanity and stupidity of the Floridians who flush their future away on some BS about salvation in the some future after death experience. What a great sales dirty pitch! I love it! Buy!

Stupid is as Stupid Does! Florida deserves it’s own failure because Floridians ergo, Americans, do NOT care for their own tribe! Screw America! Send your money to Israel, morons! Failure is earned!

  2. Using American Middle Class working people’s money to fund Foreign aid to buy Corporate access to other countries resources is a plan that has never worked. Not even for the Corporations that want access. Foreign Aid only continues a cycle of poverty in the nation applied rather than the so called “lifting up” that it is prescribed to relieve.

What burns me up though is why Americans are still willingly paying for the US Military to continue to occupy (and provide defense forces for) Germany, Japan, Korea, Philllipines and several other nations. This is in addition to 783 Military Bases worldwide. This is not a sustainable plan and does not make the Continental USA any safer. It’s only in place to influence foreign governments. The thought is that it allows for a more rapid deployment should said nations turn against the American Corporations that have stomped their boots in to the dirt of that nation.

  3. Unfortunately, we continue to elect individuals who fills us with hopes of empty promises. What makes the situation worse is the fact that we have short memories and we do not learn from our mistakes. I am not lobbying for humanitarian aid to be taken away. Just all other aids that have to do with boosting the military strength and economy of another country while American struggles without offers of help to the American people. Of course, it is imperative to keep in mind that aid provided for humanitarian reasons might be in fact be utilized for reasons besides humanitarian needs. As for the the amount of military posts in other countries, I still do not get it. There are just some countries that we do not need to occupy because our occupation worldwide had resulted in our current predicament when going through airports, etc. Some countries just do not want us in their territories and it is my belief that as long as human suffering is not the case in those countries, occupy elsewhere. You are right. The US is not safer because of what we are currently doing. Instead, we are more fearful of our safety than ever before, which will continue to result in TSA practically strip searching infants and the elderly. My friend, we are just at the commencement of our demise unless our government chooses to see the direction we are heading and do something about it besides bickering.

    (TSA)(BDSM)(Tavistock Societal Alterations)
A 41-year-old Clarksville woman was arrested after Nashville airport authorities say she was belligerent and verbally abusive to security officers, refusing for her daughter to be patted down at a security checkpoint.

Andrea Fornella Abbott yelled and swore at Transportation Security Administration agents Saturday afternoon at Nashville International Airport, saying she did not want her daughter to be “touched inappropriately or have her “crotch grabbed,” a police report states.

After the woman refused to calm down, airport police said, she was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to jail. She has been released on bond.

Attempts to reach Abbott on Tuesday were unsuccessful. The report does not list her daughter’s age. The mother and daughter were traveling from Nashville to Baltimore on Southwest Airlines.

“(She) told me in a very stern voice with quite a bit of attitude that they were not going through that X-ray,” Sabrina Birge, an airport security officer, told police.
    INCORRECT
“No, it’s not an X-ray,” she told Abbott. “It is 10,000 times safer than your cell phone and uses the same type of radio waves as a sonogram.”
    INCORRECT
“I still don’t want someone to see our bodies naked,” Abbott said, according to the police report.
At one point, Abbott tried unsuccessfully to take a video with her cellphone.

      (TSA) , you will submit.
you are asked to surrender your rights and
refusal to do so proves you are the threat.
Well, if someone is innocent why should they object to being humiliated/asssaulted/harrassed.
TSA is “”suspicious”" & on the “alert” for people who are uncomfortable or appear nervous at the airport ??

Andrea Fornella Abbott an American with “Attitude”, :)

    • This is rather unfortunate. I have a daughter who is almost 4 months old (my only child), and there is nothing innocent about the way TSA is now conducting business. Honestly, I am really nervous at the airport screening because of being touched. It is rather uncomfortable and with my past military history, not the most pleasant situation. Let us hope that they can figure out some other way to screen besides shaking down our children and adults alike. Can you imagine what that conversation is like when the child asks mom or dad why he or she is being searched? You cannot tell them that TSA is searching for a toy bear or gummy bears. It is sickening to me and I can tell you that I have flown less since the implementation of all these procedures.

  6. Find another means of travel, or don’t travel. Unless Americans take to the streets in mass, nothing will change for the better. Like the Borg says,” resistance is futile.

Excellent article Debrah. By the way, our government still has not found two trillion dollars that is still unaccounted for. ( Source: whereisthemoney.org )

In addition, in 2010 our government gave 39.4 biliion dollars to 149 countries. Some of these countries included Russia,Mexico,Venezuela, Cuba and China. Russia received 72 million dollars, Venezuela 6 million and 27.2 million was doled out to China. ( Source: Foxnews.com, ” Time to Cut Foreign Aid ” March 9, 2011 )

The Defense Department was unable to properly account for $ 8.7 billion out of $ 9.1 billion in Iraqi oil revenues. ( Source; Pentagon can’t account for billions in oil money ” by Liz Sly, Tribune Newspapers, printed in the Morning Call, July 27, 2010, page NEWS 10 )

As if this was not enough, the Government Accountability Office has done numerous studies amounting to many hundreds of pages documenting much waste and duplicity. ( Source: http://www.gao.gov )

Before I forget, a bipartisan group of Senators are questioning whether the Pentagon can meet a a 2017 deadline for the first complete audit of its finances. They are calling for a Government Accountability Office investigation. ( Source: POLITICO| Senators: GAO should investigate DOD, article by Charles Hoskinson, May 16, 2011 )

Lets keep up the pressure and bring the darkness in to the light. Those who cater to the darkness hate the light.

  8. the day before 9/11/2001 rumsfield came on tv to report the gao could not find 9.2 trillion and the next day the pentgon was hit right at the exact location where all the people and documents and computers that showed that the 9.2 trillon was unaccounted for or losts then after 9/11/2001 there was no more info about the missing 9.2 trillion missing dollars.
