Goldberg vs. Mearsheimer

Professor John Mearsheimer is subject to a Zionist-trans-Atlantic-attack for supporting my latest book The Wandering Who.
Earlier this year John Mearsheimer, the highly respected international relations theorist and Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, wrote the following preliminary front matter for my book:
‘Gilad Atzmon has written a fascinating and provocative book on Jewish identity in the modern world. He shows how assimilation and liberalism are making it increasingly difficult for Jews in the Diaspora to maintain a powerful sense of their ‘Jewishness.’ Panicked Jewish leaders, he argues, have turned to Zionism (blind loyalty to Israel) and scaremongering (the threat of another Holocaust) to keep the tribe united and distinct from the surrounding goyim. As Atzmon’s own case demonstrates, this strategy is not working and is causing many Jews great anguish. The Wandering Who? should be widely read by Jews and non-Jews alike.’
It seems as if the Zio-cons on both sides of the pond are now in a state of panic — In an obviously orchestrated attack, the Zionist mouthpiece The Jewish Chronicle of London, the Islamophobic Award winning ‘Harry’s Place’ and the ex-Israeli concentration camp guard Jeffrey Goldberg* , all launched a typical Hasbara smear & intimidation campaign, in which they labeled both Professor Mearsheimer and myself anti Semites. I was also called a ‘neo Nazi’, a ‘Hitler apologist,’ a ‘Holocaust denier’ and a ‘hatemonger’.
To be honest, it is somewhat amusing that an ex concentration camp guard like Goldberg should label me a ‘Hitler apologist’ or a ‘Holocaust denier’: after all, since Goldberg is an ardent pro-war Zionist who openly and enthusiastically supports a Jews-only, racist, expansionist state, it is clear that he is actually the one who is an advocate of a distinctly Nazi-like ideology and practice.
In addition, I learned from Goldberg that Adam Holland (yet another notorious Zionist zealot), also cannot quite believe that Professor’ Mearsheimer would endorse my book.
Adam Holland wrote: “I had trouble believing that a distinguished professor at one of the world’s greatest universities would link himself to a hatemonger like Atzmon. So I sent Professor Mearsheimer an email quoting the blurb and asking him to verify its accuracy. I also gave him an opportunity to amend it or add to it. Here’s what he ( Mearsheimer) wrote back:
“The blurb below is the one I wrote for ‘The Wandering who’ and I have no reason to amend it or embellish it, as it accurately reflects my view of the book.” John J. Mearsheimer
What is clear to the rest of us is that our Zionist detractors are fighting a lost battle. I really wonder what they hope to achieve: after all, those who have taken the time to actually read my work know very well that there is no hatred, no anti Semitism, and no racism in my entire body of work. Instead, I believe that truth is a dynamic process – I believe in the power of reason and in free debate.
If Jeffrey Goldberg has any dignity left at all, then he should start again — He should apologise to Professor Mearsheimer, myself, the Palestinians, and to humanity. He would do better to also try to present an argument, and if he actually has anything to say, he would be best advised to then learn how to argue and encounter in debate.

In the light of Goldberg’s smears on both myself and Professor Mearsheimer, it is worth bearing in mind that Jeffrey Goldberg decided to make Aliya when he was eighteen: he left America for Israel, joined the IDF and served as a prison guard in an Israeli concentration camp during the First Intifada.

Indeed, i hope they never stop. we have so much materials but we do not spread it cos the Zios and the Crypto are doing the work for us ..
Goldberg just secured both Atzmon and Mearsheimer many more followers and many more books sold. You couldn’t buy better publicity than these Zionists produce by their hysteria and smears — they are behind the loop — twenty years ago, the anti semite /denier smear was effective, but now it indicates the absolute opposite to the reader. The Zionists have cried wolf for so long now,that, post the whole Finkelstein affair, and with the spread of REAL news via the internet, people read the exact opposite into their words now.
Indeed, until now, it was just the Jewish anti Zionists who fell into this trap but I have managed to pull in the real sharks…

There’s no such thing as bad publicity, they say, and the latest attacks on Atzmon demonstrate it. Numerous commentators have criticized his new book before reading it. I first heard of the book by a piece in the London Guardian by lefty Zio hack Andy Newman. It’s almost perfect – he argues we shouldn’t talk about ‘Jewish lobbies and Jewish power’ because its anti-semitic and this is not good for Palestine solidarity. Since its blindingly obvious that Jewish lobbies and Jewish power are precisely what we should be exposing and confronting if we want to succeed in helping Palestinians attain their rights, his argument amounts to saying the Palestine solidarity movement should continue to fail. But the tide is beginning to turn, and Atzmon is an important guy in this process.

For each evil attack on Atzmon, for each evil page written against him, the Zionists are, in truth, winning him and Mearsheimer countless new readers. It is astonising they don’t realise they are actually working for him; they are his publicity agents.
How many people who had never heard of Atzmon before now, are going to think to themselves, “Well since there is so much reactionary opposition to that Atzmon guy, maybe I will just see for myself what he has to say…”
I mean, Atzmon’s enemies are such a deeply devious, unpleasant, unappealing and un-attractive bunch of people…they are hardly a glowing advertisment for righteousness, decency, fairness and honesty are they?
The savage, obviously united , orchestrated attack on Atzmon really gives form to his proposition that there really isn’t much difference at all between the Jewish left, Jewish right, Jewish Marxists,Jeiwsh conservatives, Jewish liberals, and the Jewish settlers…
Hi Gilad, you rascal, already you’ve got me laughing this morning at all the long faces.
I think both Zionists and anti-Zionists who debate Atzmon tend to get it wrong. Atzmon is a literary trickster whose gig is identity, identity loss and identity theft…everything he writes is, in some way, about identity, and he is essentially a satirist who aims to explode the ordinary categories of political debate about The Subject–that is, Israel/Palestine, Jews, Palestinians, the Holocaust, the Naqba, the whole goddamn thing. He is to serious political discussion what Andy Kaufman was to stand-up comedy…he takes the whole thing to a whole new level before you even see it coming.
Trying to see Atzmon as an ordinary essayist is like trying to see Lenny Bruce as the Archbishop of Caterbury. You just can’t get your knickers in a twist about anything he says, because a great deal of it is satiric comment translated into a kind of performance art…with an undercurrent of sadness, of course, because we’re talking about major human tragedy, but for my money satire is the only way to deal with that kind of thing.
For those of you who haven’t read it, I recommend Atzmon’s novel My One and Only Love. Here’s the premise: Israel is losing support round the world, and the Germans have stopped coughing up money, the Israeli political class figures, because the world is starting not to feel as guilty as it once did about the Holocaust. So Mossad hatches this operational plan to restore Holocaust guilt. They recruit this beautiful German chick to seduce this jazz musician, see, and together they will tour Germany and…of well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out what happens next.

Is there anything more tedious than a Jew who does not want to be a Jew?
Yes, a Christian who is so intent on proving he’s not anti-Semitic that he supports Israeli apartheid. And not only is such a Christian tedious, he’s also dangerous. The Christians that support Israeli apartheid are just finishing the job they began in Europe. Not being able to physically destroy all Jews, they now want to destroy them spiritually.
Seriously, if Gilad wants to convert from Judaism or Jewishness to something else, he has a perfect right to do so. We Americans have done a lot of uncool things, including genocide in Vietnam and near-genocide in Iraq, but one thing we understand is the process of re-inventing oneself. What will Gilad transform himself into? God alone knows–maybe into a bird of paradise. But his identity is his own, and he can massage it, he can wrestle with it, he can be his own identity thief if he wants to. But it’s his gig, because it’s his identity.
If that makes things a lot more complicated for some people, I think that’s just something they’ll have to deal with. We can’t all be subtracted into neat little categories so that irrelevant little Trotskyist groups can get Exactly The Right Position on Everything.
There’s no way you can “dismantle” Israel today. I believe given the current conditions, we would settle for creation of two states living quietly with each other and without the crude oppression and aggressiveness being shown by one right now. A lot of region would have to be given back to the Palestinians, but once more, you cannot “undo” what has by now been executed Imho.
