Passionateattachment – Writing on Sheldon Adelson’s munificent sponsorship of Newt Gingrich’s campaign, Alexander Cockburn recalls an earlier Vegas mogul’s investment in a presidential candidate:
Some things don’t change in American politics, and rich people sitting in Las Vegas with pots of cash is one of them. Joel McCleary, a friend, remembers fund-raising in Las Vegas when he was working for the Jimmy Carter campaign in 1976. The crucial Pennsylvania primary was coming up and the Carter people (their chief fundraiser was Morris Dees) needed a big wad of cash for the final push against Henry “Scoop” Jackson of Washington, known as “the senator from Boeing,” also running for the Democratic nomination and favored by powerful labor chieftains in Pennsylvania.
Joel was told the go-to guy for untraceable campaign cash was Hank Greenspun, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun. Greenspun was a notoriously tough egg, former gun-runner for the Haganah, the man who, in the midst of the Cold War witch hunts, outed Senator Joe McCarthy in the Sun as a homosexual. Joel was told to act manly. Greenspun duly received him in his office. “Why the hell should I get money for Jimmy Carter?” he asked.
“Because Jimmy Carter is going to be president,” Joel answered boldly, “and if you don’t support his campaign he’ll fuck you.”
Greenspun told Joel to come back in two hours. He returned to find Greenspan sitting at a table surrounded by other toughs. In the middle of the table was a paper bag. “So the Baptist fuck wants money,” Greenspun growled, as he pushed the bag over to Joel. “Remember, this comes from the state of Israel. Don’t you ever forget it.”
Greenspun was no doubt also sluicing money to Jackson, a particularly slavish errand boy for Israel. With Carter he was hedging his bets. Wisely, as it turned out. They called the odds right in Las Vegas. Carter won the Pennslyvania primary, beating Jackson 36 per cent to 27 per cent. Jackson pretty much gave up after that, saying frankly, “We’re out of money.” At least Greenspun, who died in 1989, didn’t live to know that he invested $100,000 in a man later to denounce Israel as an apartheid state.

As bad as the zio stooge Obama is I am hoping he wins a second term because he is the lesser of the 2 evils.
Lesser of two evils? Shitcanning the Constitution with NDAA? Initializing martial law? Stepped up usage of torture? Failure to make good on vast majority of promises?

Great stuff. I hadn’t realized that Morris Dees–whose hatred for everything American and Christian rivals that of Abe Foxman–was Carter’s chief fundraiser. The lights really are going out in America. The crypytocracy’s going to shut down a large segment of the Internet as a trial run to gauge public reaction to a total shutdown, suggesting there may be another false flag brewing or they anticipate the dollar’s collapse is immanent.
Fox News is showing its true colors by axing Judge Napolitano, while CNBC has just axed Pat Buchannan. Abe Foxman calls Buchannan a racist for indirectly pointing out Foxman’s and his ilk’s outrageous racism. Par for the course, crying out in pain as they beat their neighbor with a stick. Accuse your victims, smother the truth in invective and irrelevance.
As for Fox News, there’s a video series on PPlanet with journalist Greg Palast talking about a BBC series he did after he taped Murdoch operatives offering what was essentially protection for toeing the line. Interesting point, that the MSM also functions as a protection racket by threatening to destroy any politician who calls for investigations. Jon Corzine just stole at least $1.5 billion from everyday Americans, which is being held for him by Jamie Dimon at JPMorgan Chase, and Congress and this admin do nothing. In fact, Corzine is out raising money for Obama with impunity, or is it immunity. These criminals casting themselves as perennial victims are above the law now.
When I think of a genuine “axis of evil” threatening America with extinction, what comes to mind isn’t nonsense about al Qaeda, but the cabal of Wall St, AIPAC, and their complicit MSM. Naming others fitting the bill would obscure the point with too much detail. It’s a daunting task educating the American people that they’re government has been usurped by this axis of evil, yet Congress’ worse than 90% disapproval rating implies Americans understand that 90% of Congress are this axis of evil’s bought-and-paid-for stooges.
Come on, Dan. ricohands say’s he’s the lesser of two evils. Just imagine what those nasty Republicans and/or Ron Paul would do….boy, are they bad.
That is my humble opinion. of course. Even Ron Paul seems to distance himself from helping out the 50 million Americans living below the poverty line.
