Across the United States from East to West and North to South, this is Your Radiation This Week.

When Less is More

I’m sure you have all heard that old saying. Here at Your Radiation This Week, it means that the radiation pronouncements from the people that make up those news releases are insanely Wrong.

The idea promoted is that radiation from a given nuclear event gradually decreases over a period of time. That makes sense to most people and, in fact, it is actually true. The tricky part is that radiation and “Lethality” are separate values and they can move in opposite directions at any given moment.

When calculating just how deadly a radioactive event was, and is now, one of the most important data points is exactly how long the core has been “burning” and at what rate. As in: “Did the nuclear core “burn” for three days, three years, or thirty years, for example?” Yes, it makes a difference, and it relates to what the reactor actually does.

All Uranium reactors make Plutonium, specifically Plutonium 239, from which thermonuclear weapons are made. Oh yea, reactors make prodigious amounts of waste heat, too, as a by-product of Plutonium production. Enterprising industrialists use a small portion [less than 33%] of the heat to boil water, the rest is usually dumped into the air or a convenient nearby ocean, lake or river.

When the reactor blows up and the multi-ton core leaves the building that does not mean it stops making deadly plutonium either. As the plutonium replaces uranium the radioactive fallout grows in Lethality while the overall radiactivity goes down slightly. This deadly process occurs for 35 years after the nuclear event, the already lethal radioactive fallout gets even worse. Then it just continues for millions of years.

Packaged and bundled with hundreds of other old, highly radioactive fuel rods in “casks,” the situation further worsens. Hundreds of the supposed “casks” are scattered across the planet. The casks are usually near populated areas. The killing power of a bunch of old, crumbling fuel rods is quite remarkable. The “casks” of titanium, steel, concrete and other expensive metals, all are ventilated and all are rotting from the inside out.

A Federal judge required a 10 year test on a cask for radioactive old fuel rods in the famed Yucca Mountain proposed federal fuel rod depository. The Yucca Mountain “bugs” and microbes ate through the government and nuker industry’s high dollar cask in a few years; far short of the required 10 year test. The casks had a claimed life span underground of 10,000 years. It’s purpose was to hold the equivalent of smoking old fire logs. So much for that … Epic Fail.

WWI Poison Gas vs Nuclear Radiation Poison Gas

Poison Gas in WWI was a very effective killer of troops; it didn’t much matter whose side they were on. The troops died in droves. Thousands more were injured for life. As were civilians and non-combatants in wide areas. The generals and politicians finally learned one thing – Good idea; but, it cannot be Controlled and goes with the wind.

So profound was this usage of chemical poison gas that an International Treaty banning poison gas in warfare was adopted without delay. The American Arms industry, legislative bodies and big newspapers had to think of something else right away. There was money to be made killing people and everybody wanted in on the Government Gravy Train [GGT].

Radioactive poison gas bombs were the answer to the hope of the rich and the Generals alike! The part about controlling the Rad Poison Gas product was conveniently forgotten. In fact, the Harvard Prez at the time ran the DOD Poison Gas committee and between wars they quietly changed the name of the committee for PR reasons. It eventually became the massive, nation changing Manhattan Project; which built the first Atom Bombs.

The target of the Uranium and Plutonium based radioactive poison gas bombs soon became the Empire of Japan. Japan was a defeated country suing for peace in 1945; but, instead the Americans Zapped them with two of the three existing nuclear poison gas bombs in August of 1945. The kill delighted the Americans and they never looked back.

The American industrial capacity geared up to eventually produce 30,000 nuclear bombs to make lots of radioactive poison gas. In fact, in order to make even bigger quantities of RadGas the small, 6.2 kg, 13.64 lb, Plutonium Core was surrounded by thousands of pounds of radioactive material. It worked very well for the Americans; not so good for the Japanese. Seventy years later Japan is now all but Extinct, unable to reproduce their population entirely each generation.

Instead of being deterred, other warlike nations’ leaders immediately wanted a bunch of the “gadgets” for themselves. A huge new radioactive poison gas industry was born. The world has never been the same since. Normal people everywhere have no clue they are breathing radioactive poison gas daily. Medicine? There is none. No treatment, no cure. Normals are now called the “Shorts” for shortened life spans. Guess what? We are all included.

There is no Statute of Limitations for the crime of Murder, a state charge. A warrant can be issued for the high level Perps at any time. A warrant is issued against them, they are hunted down, apprehended, brought before a state judge and jury, tried and sentenced, imprisoned until executed; or exonerated. Since many are flight risks they must necessarily be incarcerated in a state prison until judgment is carried out.

Are you for state level murder charges for high level nuclear industry perps?

    @Bob Nichols

My apologies. The missing word is ‘down’. The whole sentence should read “Bob, is anything done to bring (down) the upper limit of cesium137 contamination in foods, especially for infants, in America?”

This is because the current 1000bq/kg for radionuclides in food is much too high vs 600 bq/kg in the EU and 100 bq/kg in Japan.

If the US dumps the Codex standard and adopts the same standard as, say, Japan, then Japan has the duty to ensure that food and cars/car parts from Japan meet its own standard before exporting to the United States. Then contaminated foods. from Fukushima will not fall through the cracks.

Btw, Abe of Japan did not succeed with ‘ice wall’ around the damaged Fukushima reactors as water is still leaking into the Pacific Ocean and sea animals are dying in there by the millions..

Cesium137 and Strontium90 are important as they have long half-lives. Are there other 1944 radioactive isotopes out there? It’s scary.

      Hi Matt2,

This was Matt2’s comment below the fold; some may not have seen it. “Cesium137 and Strontium90 are important as they have long half-lives. Are there other 1944 radioactive isotopes out there? It’s scary.”

Hold on, Matt2, no, it is not “scary” it is just physics, this is not rocket science you know!

Yes, there are 1,946 radioactive isotopes total, all made in nuclear reactors and nuclear bombs. Some minor tuning can be done to slant isotope production one way or the other; but, what you see is what you get.

BTW, Oak Ridge Nuke Weapons Lab in Tennessee houses the team that’s executed this search for radioactive bomb & reactor related isotopes for years.

It takes fully 20 half lives to extinguish every molecule. For some really long lived Rad isotopes such Uranium 238 that takes a truly majestic 90 Billion years!

      Now that’s amazing stuff.

    Mr. Nichols
 May God Protect USA from Hilary Clinton & Ted Cruz!
 So far, let them be “Replaced by Professor Elizabeth & Dr. Rand Paul!

Bob, is anything done to bring the upper limit of cesium137 contamination in foods, especially for infants, in America?

The limit for cesium137 at Codex which America adopts is far too high at 1000 bq/kg. In the EU it is 600 bq/kg and Japan it is only 100bq/kg.

This opens the door for Japan to export cesium137-contaminated foods from Fukushima and the surrounding affected prefectures to America.

Hi Matt2,… hey, it looks like you left out an important word here. Do you mean “bring down,” or “bring up?”

Hmmm either way, it is one thing to have a “Standard” It is quite another to enforce it and turn giant 1,003 ft long, 303.7 meter, ships around and tell them to go home.

But, Abe of Japan, has already put the fix in. Hillary kicked that door down good. She promised that America would not test Japanese food products, or cars either, for that matter. No telling what else.

Remember Matt2, Cs137 is only one of 1,946 known radioactive isotopes.

Someone has to inform the World about the Out-Of-Control Abe of Japan, before he kills us with Radiation.
 Abe is addicted to Radiation __he is not only killing his own people; he is killing us too, in the process.
 If not Israel, if there is a 21st Century Unprovoked Pearl Harbor or WW-3, it will be General Abe of Japan.
 Abe the Warmonger is Fighting with China & South Korea & Denying WWII, Might Start WWIII.
 The TTP Deal that the Obama Admin., is pushing, not only it’s a dangerous one on USA Economy, but also on our Lives. Even Taiwan Refused any Food Items, especially “Baby Food” from Japan, due to Radiation.
 Abe of Japan is busy watching the Stock Marketing, to see if Japan’s Market is higher or lower than USA.
 A few weeks ago, Abe’s #1 Expert In-Charge of the Clean-Up of Fukushima told Abe, that he is not sure if he was using the Right Methodology of the Clean-Up. Abe Simply told him, let us meet another time, OK?
 Radiation from Japan’s Fukushima Disaster Newly Detected off Canada & USA’s coasts.
 Two years ago, Radiation from Japan’s Fukushima Disaster 1st Detected off the California coast
Warnings That Fukushima Food Could Enter UK Markets__ have already been exported from Japan under the cover of “false labeling by fraudsters.”

Mr. Nichols is strontium90 from du part of the nasty mix?

    • Bob Nichols  April 24, 2015 at 2:41 pm

      No, it is not.

Strontium 90 only comes from operating reactors and exploding nuclear weapons.

DU or Depleted Uranium is made up into weapons before it is used in active reactors or exploding bombs.

Going even further DU is composed mostly of U238.

      Bob Nichols

    • Bob Nichols  April 24, 2015 at 3:53 pm

No, Altimometer, Sr90 is not part of DU, or “Depleted Uranium.”

Strontium 90 is made in the boiling hearts of nuclear weapons and nuclear reactors. It is a normal product of atomic fission.

      Bob
