The pro-Israel neoconservatives in the United States are determined to continue their “war of deception” against Muslim nations and the American people, a scholar and journalist in Wisconsin says.”
Zionist neoconservatives have “bought up” the US Congress by paying “bribes” to lawmakers in the form of vast political contributions, said Dr. Kevin Barrett, a founding member of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance.
Neocons “are dedicated to trying to continue their war of deception not only against the Islamic world, but also against the American people,” Barrett told Press TV on Tuesday.
“These neoconservatives now have a death grip on the Republican Party…and they’re trying to sabotage the nuclear deal with Iran; calling it a nuclear deal of course is not entirely accurate because Iran doesn’t have any nuclear weapons program,” he added.
Right-wing elements in the Republican Party along with Israel and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its civilian nuclear program.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Iran and the P5+1 group of countries — the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany — reached a landmark framework agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program on April 2 in Switzerland.
The two sides are set to start drafting a final accord, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which is expected to come until the end of June.
“I do hope that the American people will punish the neoconservative, Zionist-owned senators and representatives who are trying to torpedo [Iran] deal,” Barrett said. “And those people should be punished not only by being voted out of office, but ultimately they’re traitors to the United States and they should be tried and sentenced for treason.”
