    Allen this quote was almost clique when I was a child; “If at first you don’t succeed then try, try again”. Never knowing whom to credit this saying to I did find it both inspiring and challenging. The same is true of your work.

      Thanks, Altimometer ~ here’s your quote source for ~ If at first you don’t succeed then try, try again;
      It’s claimed that Robert the Bruce uttered these words after watching a spider try to spin a web on a cave wall. Although the spider repeatedly fell from the wall, it climbed back up the wall over and over again, until finally, it managed to spin its web. Bruce, in hiding after a military defeat, took heart from the spider’s perseverance and the rest is, as they say, history.

    Oh Allen this was simply wonderful. I am still in Beirut with two days of interviews here. I am hoping to find a team of correspondents here.

      Jim, my favorite quote about Beirut ~ “When I arrived in Beirut from Europe, I felt the oppressive, damp heat, saw the unkempt palm trees and smelt the Arabic coffee, the fruit stalls and the over-spiced meat. It was the beginning of the Orient. And when I flew back to Beirut from Iran, I could pick up the British papers, ask for a gin and tonic at any bar, choose a French, Italian, or German restaurant for dinner. It was the beginning of the West. All things to all people, the Lebanese rarely questioned their own identity.”
      ~ Robert Fisk, Pity the Nation: The Abduction of Lebanon
