US Embassy in London insists on interviewing three month old terror suspect for visa

Tiny Baby’s Terrorism Interview Makes US Embassy Laughing Stock of the Internet

“You just can’t make stuff like this up” – Jim W. Dean

… from Sputnik, Moscow

[ Editor’s Note: This boggles the mind in its stupidity; that no one in the US Embassy system wanted to draw attention to themselves by interfering in standard procedures. So a 3-month-old baby had to be brought down to London to be “interviewed” about poor grandpa mistakenly checking ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’ on the baby’s travel visa form about engaging in terrorism.

Sometimes our hunting down bad government is a long drawn out process of digging into dirty laundry to find what has been hidden there. But I chose this for publication for its wonderful simplicity.

We live in the age of computer processing and accountability of mid-level administration people being monitored by software for efficiency and the proper following of procedures. But what this case shows you is how easily the human common sense part of good admin work can totally disappear from the process.

And, if a simple situation like this got handled so badly, we have to ask ourselves, how many others that we don’t know about have been also, but over much more important issuesJim W. Dean ]

US Embassy in London

–  First published … April 17, 2017

The US embassy in London has become the butt of internet jokes after staff there interviewed a three-month-old baby on suspicion of terrorism. Young Harvey Kenyon-Cairns had been due to fly to Orlando, Florida with his parents and grandparents. His grandfather Paul Kenyon filled out his ESTA visa waiver application form, but made a mistake.

When he got the question of the form which asks, “Do you seek to engage in or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities, espionage, sabotage, or genocide?” Kenyon ticked yes instead of no.

As a result, Harvey, his mother Kaye and his grandfather Paul traveled with him on a ten-hour round trip from their home in Poynton, Cheshire, to the embassy in London’s Grosvenor Square.

Harvey, who isn’t talking yet, passed the interview and was eventually given permission to travel to the US. However, he wasn’t given the all-clear in time to travel with the rest of the family and Kenyon ended up having to pay an extra £3,000 ($3,767) to re-book tickets for Harvey and his parents.

Hearing about Harvey’s story, users of social networks were astonished that the embassy required him to visit in person for the interview, despite being aware that he is just three months old and obviously incapable of terrorism.

His grandfather joked that Harvey “has sabotaged quite a few nappies in his time.”

”Baby Harvey was good as gold for the interview and never cried once. I thought about taking him along in an orange jumpsuit, but thought better of it,” Kenyon told the Guardian.

Others agreed with a point made by the child’s grandfather Paul Kenyon and criticized the inclusion of a question asking whether the visitor had ever engaged in terrorism.

“If you were a terrorist, I suspect you’d not be ticking yes on the ESTA form anyway,” the baby’s grandfather added.

That infant will be 2-years old in no time. I think “yes” was the appropriate response, expect for the “genocide” part.
[And REALLY?!?!?!?!? Those questions are on the application? Now that’s really going to root them out, I’m sure, rolling eyes]

Imagine the barber’s astonishment when they burst into his shop FREEZE, *** ! ! ! ! (pathologically offensive American expletive), the barber perhaps already prostrate on the floor, after a stun grenade had been thrown in. I can’t imagine the efffect onf the customer in the chair.

The poetic licence I permitted myself in this addendum, would scarcely be out of place, would it ?

If anything, it’s more surreally zany than the SWOT team in the US who raided a barber’s shop, all tooled up, ready for any kind of terrorist outrage, because the barber had allowed his licence to expire.

Inteligencia não é uma qualidade constante dos norte-americanos… vai ver esse bebê é um “Terrorista” disfarçado…

I wonder what George Carlin or Bill Hicks would have to say about this?
Really now. Just how far does stupidity reach down in to the governmental domain. Apparently all the way down to the basement or is that debasement?
Yup! looks like a real threat to democracy doesn’t he? They should have water boarded the little camel jockey! That’s what Dick Chaney would have wanted.
Our tax dollars at work doing what it takes to protect Amurcans from terrorism. At least he wasn’t flown in on United Airlines, he could have been beaten up by cops. Now he’ll be on the DHS watch list as a domestic terrorist threat…..maybe even arrested for pre-crime. Now that it’s been establish that three month old infants are threats to freedom loving people everywhere, the gooberment needs to come up with a plan to defend us from these terrible toddlers.

This time I got ya…..FAKE NEWS! Like we have anyone at our embassy on the level of a 3 month old…..nice try though!

    What’s happening is exactly what happened to nazi Germany : a completely obedient mass of administrative workers without any kind of critical thinking and human responsibility;

Anyone who has changed diapers knows just how these tiny terrorists can effortlessly infiltrate even the coldest heart, only to drop a diaper discharge or launch a silent gas attack, all the while appearing to be totally innocent…..even smiling happily as they do.

Idiotic question. It’s meant to trip up ordinary people and give bureaucrats more useless work to do.

But there is better stuff out there to laugh about. Like for example to get a 3 year old into the Bundeswehr by draft.

Trakkath: Unlike times past, the German army might be better with three year olds… ;-).

All seriousness aside, similar to Japan, Germany is a turn-the-screw nuclear power.

Do not underestimate Germany. A Germany-Russia alliance is anathema to many.

The big sleepers for Germany are updated Nazi/Vril/Thule sciences & technologies.

Syria too might ask for an in-person visa interview with Ivanka — with much better reason to do so.

As per her brother, Ivanka was the deciding factor on President Twit committing terrorist acts in Syria.

‘Shoot first, ask questions later,’ said Ivanka. So, President Twit only talked about “beautiful babies” that terrorists & their supporters murdered with their Idlib gas attack. ‘First the verdict, then the evidence…’

Proving ‘Who done it’ doesn’t matter to Trump & daughter/wife Ivanka (or to second hubby Jared).

But G7 foreign ministers in Italy would take no action until they knew for sure. Strange (to put it mildly).

BABY hero of the year, clear blue eyes, a look comedians will imitate for years. And the Brits have ready senses of humour. Don Rickles just missed this one.

I’m sure that was just a stock photo and not actual.
