Real Reason Trump Jr. Met Russian lawyer

[Editor’s note: Everyone seems a bit confused about why Trump Jr met with that Russian lawyer, I think I know why.

As VT has established, Donald Trump has been laundering vast sums of money for the Russian mafia, money stolen from the Russian economy. This began in 1991, when Trump was bankrupt and the Soviet Union had just imploded; it is this flow of Russian mafia money that allowed Trump to rebuild his status from bankruptcy to billionaire in short order.

The flow of money was from the Alfa Bank in Russia to the Trump organisation in NYC. Later, in the 2000s, the key figure in handling this money laundering operation for the Russian mafia was Felix Sater, the man who Trump refuses to talk about:

Sater’s father Mikhail has been proven to be be a member of the Russian mafia lead by Semion Mogilevich, therefore Sater is the link between Trump and the Russian Mafia; no wonder Donald doesn’t want to talk about Sater….

When Putin introduced legislation to stop the Russian mafia oligarchs taking their ill-gotten gains out of Russia, it must have made the Trump-Mogilevich money laundering operation much more difficult, it may even have brought it to a halt.

This legislation came as a response to the Magnitsky Act, the same Magnitsky Act that Trump Jr discussed when he met the Russian lawyer.

Obviously, the Trumps, having acquired almost all of their current wealth from money laundering for the Russian Mafia, would love nothing more than to remove any and all obstacles that might get in the way of that money laundering operation.

That is why Trump Jr met the Russian lawyer, it was a meeting between a representative of the Trump organisation and representatives of the Russian mafia oligarchs.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how to get rid of obstacles in the way of their money laundering operation, in particular the US sanctions, prime among which is the Magnitsky Act.

As Joseph Cannon writes below:

These sanctions are murder on the Russian oligarchs for one simple reason: The oligarchs don’t want to keep their stolen money in Russia. It’s not safe there. They need to transport their loot to western nations where dirty money can be laundered via real estate and other schemes.

Of course, it is Trump and his organisation that has enabled the oligarchs to get their stolen money out of Russia, it is Trump’s real estate schemes that have been used to launder that money.

That’s why Trump Jr met the Russian lawyer – to discuss how to get their money laundering operation up and running again, now that his daddy is in the White House, he is able to do something about those damn sanctions… Ian]

The Trump/Russia connection: Let’s go deep

by Joseph Cannon

We’ve been hearing a lot of talk on TV about the Magnitsky Act. Are you confused? Check out one or both of the embedded talks (above and below) by William Browder. He’s an American businessman — with a surprising family background — who made untold millions during Russia’s corrupted transition to capitalism, until he ran afoul of Vladimir Putin.

Browder is a gripping speaker, and he tells one of the most important stories of our time. I promise that you’ll be transfixed — and you’ll also have a much better understanding of the history which underlays the Trump scandal.

In this NPR interview, Browder reveals the truth about Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Trump Tower is the world’s tallest laundromat. Earlier today, a reader sent me a link to an important article by Craig Unger which looks into an issue that has popped into these very cyber-pages over the past month. Unger’s subtitle summarizes the story: “How to use Trump Tower and other luxury high-rises to clean dirty money, run an international crime syndicate, and propel a failed real estate developer into the White House.”

We know that the FBI “tapped” Trump Tower in order to listen in on that gambling ring and on other mob-related activities. In many previous posts, we’ve noted the parade of Russian mobsters who keep choosing that building as a home and base of operations. Unger goes even deeper into this history…

But even without an investigation by Congress or a special prosecutor, there is much we already know about the president’s debt to Russia. A review of the public record reveals a clear and disturbing pattern: Trump owes much of his business success, and by extension his presidency, to a flow of highly suspicious money from Russia. Over the past three decades, at least 13 people with known or alleged links to Russian mobsters or oligarchs have owned, lived in, and even run criminal activities out of Trump Tower and other Trump properties. Many used his apartments and casinos to launder untold millions in dirty money. Some ran a worldwide high-stakes gambling ring out of Trump Tower—in a unit directly below one owned by Trump. Others provided Trump with lucrative branding deals that required no investment on his part. Taken together, the flow of money from Russia provided Trump with a crucial infusion of financing that helped rescue his empire from ruin, burnish his image, and launch his career in television and politics. “They saved his bacon,” says Kenneth McCallion, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Reagan administration who investigated ties between organized crime and Trump’s developments in the 1980s.

It’s entirely possible that Trump was never more than a convenient patsy for Russian oligarchs and mobsters, with his casinos and condos providing easy pass-throughs for their illicit riches. At the very least, with his constant need for new infusions of cash and his well-documented troubles with creditors, Trump made an easy “mark” for anyone looking to launder money. But whatever his knowledge about the source of his wealth, the public record makes clear that Trump built his business empire in no small part with a lot of dirty money from a lot of dirty Russians—including the dirtiest and most feared of them all.

That would be Semion Mogilevich, the guy who sold weapons (including, it is said, WMDs) to Al Qaeda. Before being murdered, Litvinenko revealed Mogilevich’s connections to Putin.

Among Mogilevich’s many other activities is a keen interest in prostitution, including underaged prostitution. These girls are used in “sting” operations designed to entrap businessmen and government officials. Tevfik Arif, a Mogilevich associate, was arrested after one such sting escapade involving underaged girls on a yacht.

On a completely unrelated note: Trump’s pal Jeffrey Epstein has often been seen in the company of very young women from Eastern Europe. According to Virginia Roberts, these girls are used to acquire kompromat on VIPs. Epstein is allegedly a money-manager for billionaires, though nobody knows who those clients are, and nobody can pinpoint the precise nature of the services he provides. Epstein and Trump were close.

I’ve written about Mogilevich before. Here’s a remarkable fact you may have forgotten:

For more, you may want to check out an online book called Deep Capture. The chapter at the other end of the link includes the eye-opening revelation that Mogilevich was represented by former FBI Director William Sessions, even though the FBI had the Russian on its “Ten Most Wanted” list!

Dancing with Russians. Let us return to Unger’s piece:

In 1998, Russia defaulted on $40 billion in debt, causing the ruble to plummet and Russian banks to close. The ensuing financial panic sent the country’s oligarchs and mobsters scrambling to find a safe place to put their money. That October, just two months after the Russian economy went into a tailspin, Trump broke ground on his biggest project yet. Rising to 72 stories in midtown Manhattan, Trump World Tower would be the tallest residential building on the planet. Construction got underway in 1999—just as Trump was preparing his first run for the presidency on the Reform Party ticket— and concluded in 2001. As Bloomberg Businessweek reported earlier this year, it wasn’t long before one-third of the units on the tower’s priciest floors had been snatched up—either by individual buyers from the former Soviet Union, or by limited liability companies connected to Russia. “We had big buyers from Russia and Ukraine and Kazakhstan,” sales agent Debra Stotts told Bloomberg.

Trump had found his market. After Trump World Tower opened, Sotheby’s International Realty teamed up with a Russian real estate company to make a big sales push for the property in Russia. The “tower full of oligarchs,” as Bloomberg called it, became a model for Trump’s projects going forward. All he needed to do, it seemed, was slap the Trump name on a big building, and high-dollar customers from Russia and the former Soviet republics were guaranteed to come rushing in.

According to a Reuters investigation in March, at least 63 buyers with Russian addresses or passports spent $98 million on Trump’s properties in south Florida. What’s more, another one-third of the units—more than 700 in all—were bought by shadowy shell companies that concealed the true owners.

Trump claims to have nothing to do with Russians. That’s a lie. Without Russia, Donald Trump probably would not be rich — certainly not as rich as he is.

Among his close business associates is Russian underworld figure Felix Sater…

Sater apparently remains close to Trump’s inner circle. Earlier this year, one week before National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was fired for failing to report meetings with Russian officials, Trump’s personal attorney reportedly hand-delivered to Flynn’s office a “back-channel plan” for lifting sanctions on Russia. The co-author of the plan, according to the Times: Felix Sater.

“Sanctions” means, first and foremost, the Magnitsky Act.

Do you really think that Natalia Veselnitskaya and company came all that way just to discuss Russian orphans? Puh-leeaze. This meeting was all about the Magnitsky Act.

Putin suspended American adoptions of Russian orphans in retaliation for the sanctions imposed by the Magnitsky Act. Such adoptions were always unpopular in Russia for reasons of national pride. Trump himself obviously couldn’t care less about Russian orphans. Thus, references to the “orphan” issue should probably be interpreted as a code term for lifting the Magnitsky Act sanctions.

These sanctions are murder on the Russian oligarchs for one simple reason: The oligarchs don’t want to keep their stolen money in Russia. It’s not safe there. They need to transport their loot to western nations where dirty money can be laundered via real estate and other schemes.

The rulers of Russia maintain homes in the west and send their kids to western schools. The whole point of being a Russian oligarch is to get out of Russia.

Again: The embedded talks by William Browder offer much of the necessary background. From Browder’s NPR interview

And so what has happened is that this woman, Natalia Veselnitskaya, via various people in the Russian government has become the proxy for Putin’s interests in repealing the Magnitsky Act. And she has hired huge numbers of lobbyists and spent millions of dollars on lawyers, on public relations professionals, on smear campaigners with the objective of repealing the Magnitsky Act.

And obviously when Donald Trump was starting to rise and when he started to rise post-Republican nomination, I’m sure that they had a strategy meeting at headquarters and they said, we need to get to this guy to repeal the Magnitsky Act because this is their single most important foreign policy priority. And so they probably had embarked using all of their paid advisers to figure out how to get to Trump. And they finally found this odd in through this music promoter. And they went there with the sole objective of getting the Magnitsky Act repealed.

One final word about Russian orphans. Let’s return to a matter which has received notice only in these humble pages. Above, I note that many consider “Russian orphans” a code phrase for getting rid of the Magnitsky Act. There is, however, a possibility that all of this talk about orphans goes to something even more ominous.

The American adoptions of Russian orphans were being run through a religious cult run by a disturbing fellow named Bill Gothard. His “Christian” cult established a presence in Russia during the waning days of the USSR. Gothard is linked to the Duggars and to Mike Huckabee — and perhaps to Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Gothard has been accused of abusing and brainwashing the American kids placed in the care of his religious institutions. One can only imagine the fate of Russian orphans — kids without families, transported thousands of miles away from their home country. Those orphans were kept in an “orphanage” in either Indiana or Illinois, according to a report from someone who survived Gothard’s cult.

I still don’t know the exact role played by that cult. But I know this: Everyone involved with that meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya keeps referring to American adoptions of Russian orphans — and most of those adoptions went through Bill Gothard.

As the scientist says in Close Encounters: “This is important. This means something.”

Russian Lawyer: Magnitsky Act Lobbyist Browder behind Trump Jr. Scandal

The scandal concerning the meeting between US President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr, and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was orchestrated by Magnitsky Act lobbyist William Browder, the lawyer said.

“I´m ready to clarify the situation behind this mass hysteria, but only through lawyers or testifying in the Senate,” Veselnitskaya said, RT reported.

“I can only assume that the current situation that has been heated up for ten days or so by now is a a very well-orchestrated story concocted by one particular manipulator., Mr. Browder. He is one of the greatest experts in the field of manipulating mass media,” Veselnitskaya said.

She went on to say that Browder, who is the founder and CEO of the Hermitage Capital investment company, orchestrated this whole disinformation campaign as revenge for the defeat he suffered in a US court in 2013 from a team of lawyers that included Veselnitskaya.

“I have absolutely no doubt that this whole information campaign is being spun, encouraged and organized by that very man as revenge for the defeat he suffered in court of the Southern State of New York in the ‘Prevezon’ company case,” she said.

“He wasn’t able to convince the court with his lousy human tragedy that actually never happened, about the fate of a dead man – who he only learnt about after his death.”

In 2013, Veselnitskaya was one of the lawyers who represented a Cyprus-based holding company Prevezon, owned by Russian businessman Denis Katsyv, in its defense against allegations of money laundering in a court of the Southern State of New York.

The case was settled with no admission of guilt by Prevezon.

The lawyer insisted her meeting with Trump Jr. was aimed at countering Browder’s lobbying in America and had nothing to do with the US presidential election.

“I am already tired of talking about it, but apparently nobody wants to hear. This was the story that I brought to Donald Trump Jr. I wanted him to know that Browder, a person who gave up his US citizenship, is trying to manipulate people in Congress,” she said.

“If the Senate wishes to hear the real story, I will be happy to speak up and share everything I wanted to tell Mr. Trump,” she added, referring to the alleged economic crimes that Browder is suspected of in Russia. “I will share everything I know about this situation when millions came into my country and billions left it – and nobody paid taxes.”

Veselnitskaya also said she is now concerned for the safety of her family as it’s been revealed that Browder’s team spied on her family’s activities even before her meeting with Trump Jr.

“It’s been revealed that Mr. Browder and his team have been gathering information about my family,” she told RT, adding, that Browder’s team “found photos of my house and sent them to Kyle Parker… a famous man in the House of Representatives, who worked for Mr Browder for many years – and not for any congressmen or congress as a whole.”

People working for Browder also shared all her personal details with representatives of the State Department, Veselnitskaya said.

Earlier, an email containing an alleged photo of the Veselnitskaya’s house was discovered in a trove of emailspublished online by an unidentified party. It was allegedly obtained from the account of a US State Department intelligence official tasked with monitoring Russia. The email was presumably sent by Browder to Parker on June 6, 2016.

Veselnitskaya also complained about the media attention she now endures over her meeting with Trump Jr., saying the story has been blown out of proportion. Critics of President Donald Trump see the meeting as evidence of his campaign’s collusion with the Russian government meant to undermine his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. The Russian lawyer firmly denied speculation that the meeting was coordinated by the Russian Prosecutor General’s office.

Browder has a long history of hostility against Russia. In 2013, he was sentenced in absentia to nine years in prison for tax evasion. He was also the boss of the late Russian auditor Sergey Magnitsky.

According to the 2013 court verdict, Browder together with Magnitsky failed to pay over 552 million rubles in taxes (about US$16 million). The businessman was also found guilty of illegally buying shares in the country’s natural gas monopoly, Gazprom, costing Russia at least 3 billion rubles (US$100 million).

Magnitsky died in pre-trial custody in 2009. His death led to a strain in Russian-American relations. US authorities eventually imposed sanctions against Russian officials they deemed responsible for the auditor’s death by issuing the so-called Magnitsky list in 2012. Browder also lobbied European states to follow Washington’s lead.

The Magnitsky Act is a 2012 law that allows the United States to seize assets from a number of alleged Russian human rights abusers, as well as barring them from entering the country. Russia retaliated by prohibiting American families from adopting Russian children.

This is an interesting article about how Trump is asking lawyers to look into his pardoning powers, especially for close relatives and even the option of pardoning himself which has never been tested. He is reportedly very upset that the special prosecutor may look at his tax returns and former business dealings decades ago.

    • wjabbe  July 20, 2017 at 7:11 pm

As a corollary to the above post, this means enormous amounts of government money are being paid to lawyers to find ways to keep Trump and his family out of the pokey possibly for earlier crimes.

There is black smoke coming from the right side of the clown bus cockpit. Watch for parachutes and hopefully the pilot will eject. Jobs are being created, as the demand for copy machine repair persons, and stenographers is still high. Anyone who can carry boxes up to fifty pounds are being directed to the east coast area. Lot’s of jobs. The best jobs in the world. More jobs than any president ever. Shredder manufacturing is up in the second quarter and coal fired incinerators have sold well also. The more bizarre financial news from the meat industry is that T-bones are staying on the shelves as folks suddenly turn to Rump roast as the 2017 favorite for the barbecue.

Again, excellent analysis offered by Ian which the MSM won’t dare consider nor publish.

VT may want to make sure their server’s security is tightened up. We recall what happened the last time a Trump/Russkie Mob reveal hit the web.

    • Dr. Abu-Bakr Susta  July 20, 2017 at 11:54 am

MHL: So far, VT servers haven’t been hit when VT publishes complex stories about Trump getting election help from Russian, Israeli & U.S. ‘Kosher Nostra’ oligarchs & gangsters. Why? MSM & Congress are terminally clueless. But Trump did order McMaster & Co. to take down VT servers when VT published details of the recent false-flag gas attack on Idlib province Syrian civilians (as per Congressional intel committee sources).

‘Special Prosecutor’ Robert Mueller’s servers might not be so lucky. Trump ‘warned’ Mueller against expanding the Russian email hacking & obstruction of justice probe to cover Trump’s Russian & other foreign Biz dealings. See “Mueller Expands Probe to Trump Business Transactions” at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-20/mueller-is-said-to-expand-probe-to-trump-business-transactions (“Special counsel examines dealings of Kushner, Manafort, Trump; Trump warned Mueller against going beyond Russia in probe”).

      Watch your back, Bobby! 😉

    • MileHighLife  July 20, 2017 at 8:48 pm

      Dr Susta,
I stand corrected. For whatever reason I recalled that last VT server attack happening right after the Intel Bomb from Gordon & Ian exposing Trump as the mobs bitch, and, in that same expose’, Soros being a “good guy” battling the Zionists (which I’m still trying to sort out).

No worries, I’ll schedule an MRI scan tomorrow…if I remember 😉

    • Ian Greenhalgh, Managing Editor  July 20, 2017 at 9:29 pm

I dunno if Soros is a good guy or not, but he definitely isn’t a Zionist, he hates them and they hate him, he has spent a lot of his personal fortune fighting them. However, Soros may well have his own nefarious agenda.

  4. Garry Compton  July 20, 2017 at 12:19 am

Another eye opening Article. If the facts show Trump being part of the ” Russian Connection” 10 to 25 years ago how would the US judicial system charge him with anything. The US was in charge of taking out the USSR and Trump could say he was in ca hoots with the USG and was helping to ” take them out”. Browder = So. side Chicago businessman – ya he sounds good but you can bet he is not in an American jail because he rolled over on Putin. I’m from Chicago and my dad worked for old man Daley – I understand a few things in the ” Windy City”. Trump looks guilty as Hell, but if you take this article and install United States in place of Russia – show me any difference in corruption. I love the article – it opens up the can of worms and chronologically puts everything in place in order to show the Trump/Russia/US money laundering scam. Alfa bank, Sberbank in Russia but what banks in America have been sanctioned ? None. Putin cleaned house OK – It’s called – pay back. But if you didn’t grow up in a city where the Mayor played both sides of the street, you will have a hard time seeing how the best politician/leader in the World — Has to play ! One rule – save the city/country.

  5. Khalid Talaat  July 19, 2017 at 5:16 pm

Thanks Ian, the article as Dr. ABS said “nails it”. I am just hoping we can get a Trump supporter that can tell us some of Trumps accomplishments, defend him with facts instead of the morons with the ” would you rather have Hillary.” It is hard sharing a country with such morons.

  6. Dr. Abu-Bakr Susta  July 19, 2017 at 4:12 pm

Ian: Based on my preliminary reading (with some research into Gordon’s & your prior articles & reports), you have probably nailed it! Congratulations.

Having had some personal but legal experiences with Nugan Hand Bank & BCCI, Trump & others appear to be serving some of the same purposes for the ‘Kosher Nostra’ oligarchs/gangsters — providing a semi-legal veneer for parking and/or laundering illicitly-gained foreign money.

For parking and/or laundering foreign money, the Peter Principle worked well for Trump. For running a campaign to be president, the Peter Principle also worked well, because many voters bought Trump’s B.S. & “Lie/Promises” (a Farsi word or phrase, meaning ‘promises that you never intended to keep’).

However, as U.S. president, the Peter-Principle-personified President Tweet cannot cope, because Trump is DAILY shown to be a person who has risen to the highest level of his own incompetence.

NO MSM & NO Alt.Media have researched & explained Trump’s ‘Kosher Nostra’ oligarch/gangster ties as well as Veterans Today has done. With the right questions, ‘Special Prosecutor’ Robert Mueller will probably find this trail of Trump breadcrumbs easy to follow. If or Since true, Trump Is Toast.

Regardless, Trump’s sons & daughters can easily make & market the new product — “Trump Toast.” 😉

    • Dr. Abu-Bakr Susta  July 20, 2017 at 12:09 am

McCain diagnosed with aggressive, cancerous brain tumor… Since McCain has been a cancerous tumor on America for many years, turnaround is fair play???

Ian, ‘Since Litvinenko revealed Mogilevich’s connections to Putin (and if Mogilevich murdered Litvinenko – with-w/o Putin help), could ‘your’ Russian boys be trying to do Trump a favor with McCain?

Trump also blasted AG Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia thing. Citing recusal, Trump says that he wouldn’t have hired Sessions… Could Sessions be next? 😉 .

If Trump voters knew Trump was/is a clueless Russian gangster ‘tool,’ would they still vote for Trump?

      Inquiring minds want to know…

P.S. As per another VT writer, “If, according to the video, Putin keeps 50% of profits from oligarchs after Khordokovsky was arrested, there is a hole that seems to be a disconnect from oligarchs themselves, or maybe that 50% portion is what remains in Russia? … Trump makes Putin money personally, probably.” Damn! Now, you & I may suffer the same fate as Litvinenko & McCain (and Ian)… 😉
