What Do Joe Paterno And Eric Shinseki Have In Common?

Dear Mr. Secretary: You no doubt heard about the disgraceful exit that collegiate football icon Joe Paterno was dealt at Penn State University.

Dear Mr. Secretary: You no doubt heard about the disgraceful exit that collegiate football icon Joe Paterno was dealt at Penn State University.

Our government provides shelter, beds, meals and care for hardened criminals in our local, state and federal prisons and for thug terrorists at Camp Gitmo, while homeless Veterans have been forgotten, exiled and dispossessed in our own country.

Today is the 188th consecutive Sunday Rally of the Veterans Revolution, led by the Old Veterans Guard.

When will Congressman Henry Waxman and Senator Dianne ever get serious about providing shelter for the 20,000 Veterans living homeless and hungry on the dangerous streets of Los Angeles, our nation’s capital for homeless Veterans?

Think about all the crime going on in this nation right now, along with the massive homeless Veteran problem, and where has the Department of Justice and US Attorney’s Office delegated their massive resources? To defend two Defendants, (one who is already a Federal criminal – Donna Beiter), to prevent a responsible solution for ending Veteran homelessness that was already resolved 123 years ago with the Deed and Charitable Trust of 1888.

Over the past few months, politicians and veterans groups have filed lawsuits against the Department of Veterans Affairs to force it to provide needed housing for homeless veterans.

At Sunday’s Veterans Press Conference, Rusty Rustan, a disabled Vietnam War Veteran from Orange County, spoke on behalf of Paralyzed Veterans Association and delivered a powerful message regarding Veterans suffering from PTSD and quoted Major General Smedley Butler, a World War I hero and two-time recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Yesterday, the Old Veterans Guard held our Veterans Press Conference for “Claiming Ownership to Our Land.” We appreciate the loyal support of those who attended and the support this noble cause.

The office staff has not come to the aid of a homeless Female Veteran last weekend who was denied shelter and care at the Los Angels VA.

On March 16, 2010, the ACLU of Southern California filed a lawsuit against Donna Beiter, executive director of the VA Greater Los Angeles healthcare system, along with her chief of police, Ronald Mathis, for Viewpoint Discrimination (censorship) after they ordered the VA police to issue false arrest citations against me, and removed the American Flag during our Sunday Rally protests.

Every day, 18 Veterans commit suicide — that’s more than 6,500 a year, and more than twice the number who were killed during the September 11 attack ten years ago.

This past week a homeless Female Veteran was denied shelter and care at the West Los Angeles VA and forced to live for five days outside the entry gate to the National Veterans Home.

Please attend the Veterans Press Conference this Sunday, “Claiming Ownership to Our Land.”

A homeless Female Veteran has been denied shelter at the Los Angeles VA because she essentially did not answer the “right” questions.

It’s 9-11 weekend and we’re honoring our Troops and Veterans who served over the past decade. BS! What a disgrace our government has become, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Why does a small group of elderly Veterans gather every Sunday outside the largest VA in the nation at one of the busiest intersections in Los Angeles to protest the biggest land-fraud scam in America?

Note: the West LA VA has begun to take responsible action toward returning this sacred land for Veterans use only.

You are invited to attend and support the 180th consecutive Sunday Rally to “Save Our Veterans Land” and to “Bring Our Homeless Veterans HOME.”

Once again, the West Los Angeles VA bureaucrats have suppressed a major crime. This time a Veteran was murdered on Veterans sacred land.

Today is American Independence Day, a time to celebrate.

This Sunday will be our 173rd consecutive Sunday Rally to “Save Our Veterans Land,” and to “Bring Our Homeless Veterans HOME.”

The politicians are throwing out a bone, but only after the ACLU filed a lawsuit.

The real issue is with the Legion itself. It had a choice, it could side with homeless veterans and the ACLU or with the wealthy and powerful homeowner association and developer group that sits in the middle of one of the nation’s most powerful political machines.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) posted the Master Plan for the West Los Angeles (WLA) campus, which includes plans to expand the homeless program by renovating buildings on the historic campus.

There are 10,000 members of the American Legion in Los Angeles County and 20,000 homeless Veterans in Los Angeles County. Outnumbered 2-to-1, the American Legion still chooses to side with VA land policies that keep our homeless and disadvantaged Veterans from living in their rightful and legal “Home.”

For two-and-a-half years, fellow Veterans in Los Angeles and around the country have repeatedly written you and respectfully requested that you make major changes at the Los Angeles National Veterans Home.

I always admired the American Legion while growing up on a farm in central Indiana. Maybe it was just the good old Hoosier upbringing and patriotism of Legionnaires, but they were always admired and considered honorable Veterans and Citizens.
