As the world celebrates Women Day, I too have many reasons and many women in my life that I want to celebrate. The women in my life are not limited to family members but include so many women in America and around the world.
This observer lost count more than a year ago of the sheer number of predictions by analysts and lobbyists that the “tipping point” signaling the Assad government’s collapse was a sure thing and would happen any time now.
Admittedly, it is not hard to imagine how someone can predict a vision of hell in a country like Syria which has become a hornet’s nest of terrorism and that which is tumbling into further chaos and bloodshed.
Terrorism is terrorism and it cannot be defined otherwise unless the interests of one party tilt the scale in disfavor of another and the dichotomization of the terrorists in Syria into good and bad by the West casts doubt on its claim on democracy.
In a rare interview with Russia Today TV, President Bashar Assad vigorously clarified his stance on the current Syrian crisis created by the West and some regional states including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar and warned them of the apocalyptic consequences of any foreign intervention in Syria.
At issue is hyping fear and advancing the ball for war. DF claims Western “intelligence channels” gave Assad a “last warning.” Leave these alleged weapons in storage or they’ll “be destroyed from the air.”
